Nice video! To my knowledge Rivian had two primary objectives the G2 R1 program: 1) Increase gross margin per unit 2) provision the trucks with the hardware required to support more advanced driver plus features that Rivian is going to sell as a monthly subscription. Rivian is trying to accomplish 1 by simplifying different components some of which are apparent such as no physical door handles on the inside and no light around the charging port for examples. Others we can’t see like reducing amount of wiring harnesses etc. In addition they are effectively increasing the prices by making standard features on G1 options i.e. Premium Audio. For 2 they have moved the camera to the mirror and changed out the computer systems. What this all means is the G1 is effectively a legacy product at this point and R1s will be more expensive going forward. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out against the back drop of this election and possible recession. What is the market for the new R1s at the increased price, current Rivian customers?
It has a glovebox now😂. I got an r1t a few months ago, i wish i could have bought the iron based battery and the heat pump version. I knew an update was coming so i am very happy though even after seeing the gen 2
I think you’re right about the wheel size appearing bigger on the silver one. If you pause the video at 7:36 it appears the silver one has a wider tire. It could be the angle though.
Good video. One of the things we love most about our R1T is the fact we got almost $20k as early reservation holders, as well as the $7.5k incentive using the transition rule. So while I appreciate Rivian’s Gen2 advancements, I have zero interest in upgrading.

Yeah I canceled my R2 reservation,😊 orders R1S kept building it so I just went for it

Not enough for me to "trade up". Love my 1st gen. But I like where Rivian is headed. Very exciting.
