how do you feel about xii? I only remembered playing it a bit but looking at the zodiac age system, wondering between this, 10 and 7 what would be a good next pick?
Usually you only see a fraction of the summon spell (Like the Tsunami with leviathan or Mega Flare coming from the sky with Bahamut) and they take no longer than your average spells. Only sometimes (or all times with a certain ability equipped) they show fully. They actually do better damage like that, and in the last bosses summoning Ark with (Auto-)regen on saves lives.
I remember loving Eiko's Eidolons the best for some reason... And the Phoenix was beautiful/cool (I remember it saved my life during the bossfight at Oeilvert back in the days where I had just discover the game and the world of RPGs... I didn't understand what happened ah ah... ahhhh that was sort of nice to not know anything about fandom or the internet... games seemed much more mysterious that way).
that was quite possibly the best 8:00 of compiled video game footage in the history of forever. man those summons were epic....I remember when I got Ark for the first time and used him I was just like DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD: insanity.
+Ray Brownman where was bahamut ever the strongest? o_O in every final fantasy, there were more powerfull summons like knights of the round, eden, magus trio etc and in ff9, you actually have bahamut since cd1 from the very start and get him for free as a gift later in the game again
+IVA ART : I agree...in FF9, max damge limit (limits, summons,etc) is 9999 (unlike previous versions (FF7( Cloud's Meteorain, Omnislash, Barret Ungarmax, Tifa's Final Heaven, Knights of Round or Bahamut Zero+Quadra Magic) and FF8 (Squall's Renzokouken, GF Eden,etc)...Off.: Lucky, FFX to XV-max dmg is 999999 (maybe)
@K1llerSpades the long animation will always be up the first time you used the summons.....after that you only get to see the full animation only if the summons hit for a critical hit.
Does anyone know of the trailer that was on a PS1 demo disc that ends with Zidane on the elevator of Alexandria in game footage it was truly the best trailer I have ever seen for a game now I can't find it.
Last one is like destruction of the earth mode...only 9999 damage...i know it's the limit and i'm glad they changed that in recent ff even though they suck ass.

Actually If you go to maiden sari's summon chamber thing you can actually see ark there and there's a wall tablet on the side. I think you need all pumices pieces too or something.

FF9 had some of the best looking Eidolons/Summons. Bahamut and Leviathan were especially sexy. ;3 Fenrir's first attack had me laughing so hard when I first saw it. I think Fenrir was my most used Eidolon. XD Ark got on my nerves. It was as if Square wanted an excuse to add a transforming mecha in Final Fantasy. =/ I wish we could've gotten Alexander in FF9. I think it would've kicked more ass than Ark.

Wow. For a ps1 game the summons looked pretty nice. I guess i gave up on this game too early back then to see these summons.
They should have had the summons do multiple attacks to make them more viable.

Where's Millennial Decay? If Eiko is equipped with Maiden's Prayer, Fenrir will use it instead of Terrestrial Rage.
