I saw him in concert in the late 70's,his voice is right up there with the best of them!

My sister used to clean up after big venues at the cia in wales, i lent her a hand for a night when tom was there, i watched him talking to his after party guests while i swept around and picked up so many pairs of ladies underwear of every size shape and colour that you could imagine, almost filled the bin liner i was dumping them in, and that was the late 90's 😱. Women my mothers age and above were still throwing them at the man thirty odd years after he first seduced them with his voice, all i could think to myself as i binned them and watched him hold court in the vip area was "fair play, that old feller over there, is a pure fckin legend"!! 👏👏😉❤

This song is about a prisoner on death row. The 4 walls are his prison cell and the padre is walking with him to his execution and is then buried by the oak tree

I believe that so many people did not realize this. THAT is what makes the song.

No one gets it the first time - the guard and the sad old padre (priest) walking to get executed at daybreak..

Beautiful song from Tom Jones. Elvis and Tom became good friends back in the late 60s. Tom spent alot of time at Elvis' home Graceland. ♥️🎼🎶🎶☺

    Dead man walkin', baby.
    Think about it..
"For there's a guard, and a sad ole' Padre, and on and on, we walk at daybreak".

Not only are you a beautiful girl but you have a beautiful heart. I love it. That being said please react to the beautiful voice god-given mr. David Phelps. Sounds like just as I am. Water. I have nothing. No more night. The dream. Oh Holy Night. Nessun Dorma. Mio Bambino Caro. And so many more. I will be looking for your reactions until then stay well

The guy in this song is in prison on death row. In the last verse of the song, they are at his funeral. It's really a sad song.

    (You are very pretty.)
Now react to more Tom Jones - Delilah, I'll Never Fall In Love Again, etc.

He has a way of making Capitol punishment of premeditated murder sound sweet.

Like #77. I like Elvis's version better. And I did this one too 😃

He's from Wales but he's given a good southern accent for this song. Not many people realize that he's waking up in his jail cell. He's in prison.

Even more to the point-he's about to be executed. "There's a guard and a sad old padre, Arm in arm we'll walk at daybreak.."

Opera Rock. From Spain please. React to Camilo Sesto: Getsemani ( live 1977 ).

The vocal here is lovely, but there is an even better version from Tom’s TV show, This Is Tom Jones. It’s almost like a music video as Tom sings it as a prisoner behind bars. ua-cam.com/video/hSajFnkUxQY/v-deo.html

Well, but the version with Elvis is incomparable, at least for me.
