@@llothar68 Belfast Telegraph Wed 29 Feb 2012 By Gerard Couzens Legendary rock guitarist Gary Moore died after binging on enough alcohol to put him nearly five times over the drink-drive limit, tests have revealed. The Belfast-born guitar ace suffered a heart attack brought on by the amount of drink he knocked back at the start of a sunshine holiday in Spain.
The end sounds like a wounded sparrow that finally finds death. Gary is one of the most underrated guitarists. His blues are just poetry, words cannot do it justice
Gary Moore was (RIP) a guitar genius and influenced so many other guitarist since. This is a great song but Parisienne Walkways is iconic! You could also find him in Thin Lizzie, they were a great band he was one of their guitarists!
Privileged to see him live twice , once on a rock tour and once on a blues tour , mesmerising stuff and unforgettable memories, Albert King and Albert Collins on the same stage at the blues show ! Unreal 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎😎❤️💪💪💪💪👍🏻👍🏻
Gary Moore was a legend in Europe by the 80's... 'Still got the blues' was his only US hit in 1990 - it was a blessing and a curse, because he was expected to keep playing that blues style on further records... and he was a hard rock artist. Some of his more conventional hit songs included - 'Over the hills and far away' ... 'Out in the fields' ... 'Nuclear attack' ... 'After the war'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥🎸 Born in Northern Ireland, Gary Moore fell into playing guitar after hearing American blues artists like B.B. King... Djnago Reinhardt... Otis Rush... Albert Collins... and eventually, modern 60's guitarists like George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, etc. During the Troubles in Northern Ireland, Gary Moore left and moved to Dublin where he joined the Irish band Skid Row (not the American Skid Row) and became friends w/ bassist Phil Lynott in the late 60's... Phil Lynott (bass & vocals) left to form the legendary band Thin Lizzy, and Gary Moore would help them w/ early live shows in the 70's. Gary Moore formed his solo band in the 70's just as Thin Lizzy were breaking big in Europe, and then America in 1976 w/ their album 'Jailbreak'... Gary Moore recorded 1 Thin Lizzy album ('Black Rose' in 1979) and was filmed live playing w/ Thin Lizzy -"Live at Sydney Harbour '78" (Thin Lizzy had parted ways w/ guitarist Brian Robertson at that point). In 1978, Gary Moore released his first 'proper' solo album 'Back on the streets'... and scored a minor hit 'Parisienne walkways'... which was co-written w/ Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy... He struggled to find success w/ albums like 'Corridors of power' (1982) and 'Dirty fingers' (recorded in 1980, released in 1983)... His commercial success in Europe finally came in 1985 w/ his 5th album 'Run for cover'... which featured the hit 'Empty rooms'... Sadly, Moore was mourning in 1986 after the death of his friend and former bandmate Phil Lynott, who passed away from organ failure after years of drug abuse. Gary Moore's career in Europe continued to blossom in the 80's w/ his albums 'Wild frontier' (1987) and 'After the war' (1989)... and he peaked in 1990 w/ the album 'Still got the blues' (his only US gold album selling a half million copies)... However, the 90's brought his career into decline (along w/ most 70's and 80's rock bands and artists) as subsequent albums failed commercially. Gary Moore persisted and kept recording and touring... he paid tribute to Phil Lynott playing a set of Thin Lizzy songs (released as "Gary Moore & friends: One Night in Dublin" in 2005) and a Jimi Hendrix tribute in 2007 ('Blues for Jimi') ... By 2010, Gary Moore was back on tour and working on a new hard rock album, but he was not in good shape... The legendary guitarist had been abusing alcohol for years and gained weight significantly - he was filmed in 2010 performing in Montreux (released as 'Live in Montreux' in 2011) and he seemed to be struggling to perform onstage. Sadly, he never got to make that record... Gary Moore passed away in early 2011 from heart failure at age 58... His blood alcohol was reportedly at 0.38 in his autopsy.
Gary Moore was an Irish guitar player who played in the band Thin Lizzy, they’re from Ireland. He is one of the best and most underrated guitar players of all time. If you want to hear a great guitar song, listen to Gary Moore.- The Messiah Will Come Again, It’s one of the greatest guitar instrumentals of all time. Knowing how much you love Joe Bonamassa, try the video Joe Bonamassa and Mahalia Barnes, the song Riding With The Kings guarantee you’ll love it. And another fun reaction 👏👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙🤙 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Ireland gave birth to some of the greatest guitar players like Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore. And, no, Edge is not one of the greatest...a good one yes, but not in the greatest.
Gary was an Irish guitarist with Skid Row and Thin Lizzy. Gary's The Messiah Will Come again live at Montreaux 1990 is possibly the best guitar solo ever. Gary's playing was the first time I heard a guitar singing like a person, a very moving experience. He had a solo career with Paresianne Walkways, Overthe Hills and Far Away and of course still got the Blues and many hits with Thin Lizzy.
@@1tommymulligan Wrong, Belfast is the capital city of Northern Ireland UK, not in Ireland at all. Gary was British, I know because I went to school with him in Dundonald UK.
One of my all-time favorite guitarists, Gary is a hidden gem and un-sung hero, may he RIP 😢 For more of Moore, check out Parisian Walkways, The Loner, Over the Hills, The Masiah Will Come, and so many more.......
First saw Gary when he toured as a member of Thin Lizzy in the late 70's but Gary always wanted to be more than just in a rock band no matter how successful they were. He left and persuade his interest in a solo career and Blues Rock. He made some further great records with Phil Lynett and had a great career, a guitar genius . I saw him on several more occassions in concert in various London locations but it was his performance at Hammersmith Odeon ( Apollo) when he was joined on stage by BB King and Albert King that was beyond special. I also saw him on other occassions when he would bring on other guests to share those guitar links with including the great Albert Collins. Gary left us in early 2011 when he suffered a heart attack whilst in Spain and he is so sorely missed as I'm sure the world would otherwise have a whole lot more great Gary Moore solo CDs and LPs to have marvelled and enjoyed RIP Gary Moore Guitar Legend
Gary was one of the greatest guitarist/vocalists ever. What I love in particular is the obvious passion he had for his music. Most musicians, especially blues men tend to show their emotions, but Gary took it to the next level…because his playing was next level. Much missed. R.I.P. Gary, guitar genius with a beautiful voice to complement his playing.
Ladies check out his live version of “The Messiah will come again”. Incredible That guitar he’s playing is probably the most famous Gibson Les Paul guitar out there It was originally owned and customized by founding Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green who gave it to Gary Moore and is now owned by Kirk Hammett of Metallica. The guitar is called “Greenie”
Oh man. I’ve been wondering if that was Greenie or not all day scene I left that comment's Now I feel like a rocker trivia rookie 😂. How will I ever show my face again
I was extremely lucky to have seen Gary play more times than I can remember. From his tour with Greg Lake in the early 1980's, all the way through to his latter blues days, and each time he took my breath away. A huge inspiration for me, and thousands upon thousands of guitar players world wide... He is sorely missed by millions. He once said he always preferred someone saying how much they liked a song of his than having a number one single or album. His heart was in his music only. The Messiah Comes Again live in 1990 is nothing short of sheer brilliance. Enjoy ladies.
Gary Moore he really was one of the finest guitar players around especially when he played the blues he really excelled even more as a blues musician he had so much emotion in his music you could feel it when listening to him play so brilliantly and he had a lot of respect from top blues guitarist BB King they worked on stage together at times you ladies certainly have great interest in this type of music thats so easy to see and it's wonderful to see you all moved by this classic music and there's lots of live albums of Gary playing blues music I highly recommend it to you and I'm certain you won't be disappointed at all keep up the great work we certainly appreciate listening to your thoughts as it's always positive.
Hi ladies! I’m about grandma’s age (also very young at heart)! I was lucky to see Gary live in the uk twice. Both times I was allowed to rest my head on my elbows on the stage and just be mesmerised by this guy. No one asked me to move. I’m quarter Irish so know where the talent is from! He is missed. One of a kind so hard working. He didn’t make the $. Satriani or Vai made but I think more Celtic and grounded in his genes. Do yourselves a huge favour and play Paolo Nutini, ‘Iron Sky’ Live from Abbey Road , Scottish Italian guy you will be blown away!
He was 59 when he died but he had a long career with various rock bands, including Thin Lizzy and a successful solo career. Genius musician. Not sure if you've checked out Jeff Healey yet but he was magic. He died in his early 40s and was blind. Check out the live version of See the Light.
I enjoyed your reaction to this. For me Gary is unsurpassed when it comes to the guitar. This is a man that reinvented himself more than once and excelled in every genre, while other guitar "greats" stuck to the same old format that they started out with. I would love you to react to GARY MOORE - PARISIENNE WALKWAYS LIVE HD
A very talented man and hard working musician, that's Gary Moore. He spent most of his career playing hard rock with various bands. In 1990 he rediscovered the blues and produced this song and a new album. He then focused on the blues for the rest of his career. He was one of those artists 🎸more famous in Europe than here in America.☮️ He often played the Montreux Jazz Festival. Those shows were all recorded and available on DVD.
Many years back, I was lucky enough to do some vocals for Gary Moore on an album and he was just an incredible human being. The world is a sadder place without him. You need to do a reaction to Parisienne Walkways if you have not done one already
I saw Gary Moore live at the beacon theater in New York in 1992 he did two shows that year one in LA and on r in New York I had first row balcony seats looking straight down on him it was amazing best concert I ever saw
Great Reaction and you are now ready for: "Gary Moore=Parisienne Walkways LIVE@ Montreux" and you MUST watch the version which begins while he is, briefly, tuning up. You will see why later ladies/ Thank You:)
Gary Moore is probably my most favorite guitar player of all time. Unfortunately, we lost him young. He was 54 or 55 years old. He died in Spain in a hotel. The problem was he liked to drink and it was alcohol poisoning that took his life.
More Gary Moore: Out in the Fields and Over the Hills and Far away Just fabulous songs. His genious was just not only in his guitar. He could indeed write breath-taking lyrics.
Gary Moore was truly one of the best guitarists this world has ever seen. None but him could make the guitar sound so sad when words failed him the guitar spoke. Glad i got to see him live twice.
Got every single Gary Moore album there is....all his hard rock stuff, his earlier bands, Scars, BBM.....every sidestep, all of it!!! Amazing you never heard of him. To me Gary is the embodiment of 3 guitarists in one, all 3 are definitely among people he listened to and were his peers.....Peter Green/Rory Gallagher/Roy Buchanan. I got everything Peter Green too (save for a few Splinter group releases), got everything by Roy Buchanan....now that's a heavily underrated American player!!!! And on my way completing Rory Gallagher's discography. In May I'm seeing Walter Trout in Paradiso Amsterdam again. Definitely in the same category as Gary, amazing player who just lives the music. Gary Moore's The Loner is a song that can be played at my funeral!!!
So glad you’ve found him. I consider him the best ever. Another track you could try is The Loner, live in Stockholm 1987. Or, going back to his rock roots: Shapes of Things, live in Ireland 1984. Cheers.
To these three girls, you picked an excellent song to profile. This track by Gary Moore was released in the late summer of 1989; I remember it because it came out when Montgomery, Alabama had a new rock station (WXFX-FM 95.1 The Fox) that just signed on the air. I was 25 then. This guy was the guitarist for Thin Lizzy, they came out with “Jailbreak”, and “The Boys Are Back In Town”. Gary Moore was an outstanding guitarist. A challenge for you girls. Try the seven-minute song “Shooting Shark” by Blue Oyster Cult (1983, album long version, not the live version). Believe it or not, it’s a love song. Need lyrics to go along, I once dedicated it to the girl I broke off with. 👨🏻🦳🇺🇸😁🥁🎸🎵🎹🎶

Congratulations ladies, you have discovered the greatest guitarist that ever walked on this earth. I was lucky enough to be at this concert at The Hammersmith Odeon in London and saw Gary honestly more times over the years than I can remember. Gary could play any style he wanted to from Blues, Rock, Jazz-Fusion and even Neo-classical. There are and were many great guitarists but Gary was just a cut above the rest. He was a huge influence on Joe Bonamassa (my current favourite guitarist). Unfortunately we lost Gary in 2011. If you want to see guitar playing at its very best, please react to Gary Moore The Messiah Will Come Again Live. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/7k07j7LcLqw/v-deo.html You will not be disappointed I promise. Kindest regards to you from England. 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦
A great guitarist known for bluesey syle of play. So many guitarists you probably have not been exposed to you yet - Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Frank Marino, Tony MacAlpine, Blues Saraceno, Buckethead, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson, Joey Tafolla to name a few. You have only scratched the surface. Recommend Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover live to start.
Good to see you have discovered the great Gary Moore, easily the best guitarist ever out of Ireland. Also check out his work with Irish band, Thin Lizzy.
Glad someone recommended this one. Gary Moore was in Thin Lizzy three times, and their Boys Are Back in Time was a hit in the 'States. Gary Moore's known as one of the best and most emotional guitarists ever, and yes, his singing is also perfect. By the way, love the picture of the dog by the tree.🙂
The guitarist that Gary plays affectionately called greened once belonged to Fleetwood founding member Peter Green who was a big influence on Moore and became a great friend.Greeny now belongs to Metallucas lead guitarist.
You should really check his Empty Rooms song live from 1987 Stockholm Sweden concert. It's an absolutely amazing performance with so much emotion and mind blowing guitar work. The whole concert is just incredible from his Wild Frontier album rock era. You won't regret it I guarantee it!
Gary was not underrated amongst his peers, he was from my mums home town in northern Ireland. Let's not forget Ireland love Rock especially rock guitar x
You should try The loner live from sweden 87 there he also shows some skills...He is one of the few no matter if he plays fast or slow there is soul in it, you hear alot of schredders but there is no heart behind it.. He also knew how to control the volume all the time so he doesnt blast it.. these 10 sec. Boost he makes is perfect all the way, he was the master in control....
13 years since he passed away. Luckily, his music hits hard, until the end of time. One of the best guitarists ever lived.

Gary,we all got the blues for you. What a gift for humanity. Rock in peace. Great reaction. ❤ from 🇮🇹🇧🇪🎄🇪🇺💯
Thanks for watching.
Our national irish treasure .... really could make that guitar sing
He is British not Irish, born and raised in Dundonald Northern Ireland UK. I know because I went to school with him.
Gary Moore's The Loner is a song that can be played at my funeral!!!
it can not get any better
R.I.P. Gary. Still my favourite guitarist of all time 💔💔
Gary Moore was a guitarist for an Irish rock band called Thin Lizzy.
So glad you’ve found him. I consider him the best ever. Another track you could try is The Loner, live in Stockholm 1987. Or, going back to his rock roots: Shapes of Things, live in Ireland 1984. Cheers.
Or Empty Rooms from the same Stockholm show :) \m/

Awesome guitarist and ridicolously underrated singer😎♠️
For more epic Gary Moore guitar skill and excellent vocals my recommendation is ‘Separate Ways’ extended intro Live in London
Brilliance, a gift .Listen Peter Green Front man for Fleetwood , Mr Moore playing his guitar giving to him
Congratulations ladies, you have discovered the greatest guitarist that ever walked on this earth.
Here is the link:

You will not be disappointed I promise.
Kindest regards to you from England. 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦
Saw Gazza at the Odeon as well. Still Got the Blues tour, circa 1988-89.❤
Quem fazia guitarra chorar era ele. ❤
Thank you for this reaction video. Garry More was not just another great guitarist. He is one of the giants.
rip Gary Moore one of the best. Was excellent in Thin Lizzy.
For me he is a GOAT. RIP.
Thanks, that is Stella Lulu's dog.
RIP Gary
RIP Phil
Check out Gary Moore & Albert King Performing the song STORMY MONDAY LIVE. Legendary Indeed.
I found my favourite guitarist in him
Messiah Will Coma Again is a must. Gary was one of the great guitar players of all time. RIP bud.
Great Irish musician,RIP.❤
He was not Irish
I love these reaction views from peopke who have never heard of bands all the ones I've watched all have been blown away
Gary was not underrated amongst his peers, he was from my mums home town in northern Ireland. Let's not forget Ireland love Rock especially rock guitar x
I had tickets for Gary. Moore he was playing in my city then a week before gig he unfortunately. Passed away
HE USED TO BE IN AN IRISH BAND CALLED (THIN LIZZY)
Being an Irishman myself, I own a lot of this guys stuff. He is one of my influences for my own guitar playing. Great reaction!!! Keep em' coming! 🍻🤟
Thanks for watching
great reaction...great point that you made that a lot of people will never hear this artist...
passed away in 2011. RIP. Check out liver version in Montreal of the messiah will come again and Parisienne walkways
Please watch Gary playing Seperate Ways live in London, absolutely sublime👌
He played with a band called BBM with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker who where from legends band Cream
Guitarist VIVIAN CAMPBELL from RONNIE JAMES DIO Was a Fan ....and that's when I Heard about MOORE ...1985
Empty Rooms from him is also a must.
He was in Thin Lizzy too.
