    This looks so much better than the more expensive but smaller Hatching Time cage I got.

      I wanna get a quail cage. I think the Hatching Time one is better for upgrading and modular.

      I am very, very unhappy with my two new HT 5 layer cages. One came missing parts. Instead of READING my email, they sent me a form letter which asked for a picture of the problem. How does one take a picture of a part that is missing from the box. The other leaks like crazy from FIVE different places. Three of those places are assembled at the factory. The other is the black hosing. We had to install hose clamps to stop those leaks. When we looked to see if others have an issue with them, we learned the heavy leaking issues goes back several years and is a very, very common complaint among their customers. It's obvious by how long it has been occurring they don't care to correct it. For the price paid, you would expect them to come ready to use. Instead, we have been working nonstop on them since we assembled them.

      A nice and cost effective setup, we think. And so far, we think the quail are enjoying their habitat. :)

    Thank you for your review on the cages. Do you still have them? How are the holding up? Have you been forced to make any modifications? I have two brand new Hatching Time cages. One came missing parts. The other leaks like crazy from the square end plug that is assembled at the factory and on the black hose at the connections. We made sure there was no space in the black hoses and worked to get a tight fit. To get items replaced from HT, one must take several pictures of the box, label, problems, etc. It creates more frustration and emails than necessary. I asked them how was I supposed to take a picture of a missing part? So many emails and time! Not very efficient. We gave up dealing with their customer service and are using JB water weld and hose clamps to solve the problems that came with the $826 5-layer cage. For that price, you would expect turn-key, but we are having to make daily repairs to brand new cages. When we looked to see if others have an issue with them, we learned the heavy leaking issues goes back several years and is a very, very common complaint among their customers. I've had my floors and furniture (office in quail barn) damaged, and we lost a few quail due to them running out of water.

    Put some sand in the relaxing dish so they can dust bathe

      They are in the pine shavings now getting faux dust bathes (or trying to) but we also have some sand for them as well.

      This might be the way to go for you. So far they have been really easy to get going. We will keep producing content on this so you can see how this progresses for us. PS, the eggs may be small, but they are delicious!

    Looks like a good starter setup. But I raised tropical birds for many years and am not ready to add another indoor flock even if they do give me little eggs. Besides, I'm not sure how the Lovebirds would accept them.

    • @GutenGardening
      @GutenGardening  2 роки тому +2

      These will likely be our only indoor birds here and really the only ones where we live (based on requirements) that will provide a return on investment. How many tropical birds did you have?

    • @geekygardens
      @geekygardens 2 роки тому +1

      @@GutenGardening Only three lovebirds now and they are way past their usual life expectancy. At one time we had dozens of lovebirds, canaries, cockatiels, ring necks, quakers, etc. I'm sure I missed someone.

    I wanted to have mine outdoors. The mesh of the hardware cloth is too big. It would allow snakes to enter. Do they have the option of smaller mesh?

    • @GutenGardening
      @GutenGardening  2 роки тому

      Hello, and sorry for the very late reply. I think you could probably use a smaller mesh like this: amzn.to/3wyTCG0
      The problem would be limiting your feeding system options, but if you keep the feed inside and the water inside the cage, then it likely wouldn't be a problem either. :)

    Put a latch on yhe door...when they retract their head in after eating its harder for them to pull their head through.

    • @GutenGardening
      @GutenGardening  2 роки тому

      If it wasn't so cost restrictive here, we would love chickens, but where we live there are so many limitations. That being said...maybe quail is the way to go for you? :)

    • @GutenGardening
