You hit a VERY important issue with wind noise. I went to ENT and Allergy and had them make molds of my ears and then the labs make them a perfect fit. They’re made of a silicon like material. They cost $250 but last years if you don’t loose them. The generic one size disposable are garbage. your helmet also produces a lot of noise with its winglets, so in case you still don't want to wear earplugs (which I HIGHLY recommend to avoid tinnitus which cannot be cured) make sure the unnecessary holes are sealed and do not produce even more noise.
I’m going through it right now. I just started getting swimmer’s ear. I’ve been riding for about a year. Just ordered Big Ear plugs and am going to start wearing foam plugs now.

As someone who was functionally raised on race tracks, ear pro is no joke. Rarely wore em as a kid and I had to start toughing through tinnitus in my teens. You lose can only lose your hearing once.
Just started on a z400, can attest I was surprised by the acceleration it can produce, and as a beginner it's reassuring to know I can let loose and have fun without putting on waaay to much speed accidentally.

Hey Mr. Noob. Great video series you have here. I always watch every one that comes out. Really entertaining and informative. But just a thought, can you produce a video that address riding pillion. You know, 2 up with passenger and the additional luggage required to keep your passenger happy. How riding with a passenger changes the whole geometry of the bike, additional weight and how your passenger can cause unexpected handling issues. Anyway, just a thought.

I spent the first 15 years of riding without ear plugs and my hearing has been damaged (tinnitus is a bitch btw) but now I always use them and I wish I always had
i will say. i got my first bike a week ago. it’s a ninja 300. and while i am ready to upgrade to a 600 already, that’s only because i rode dirt bikes a lot growing up, and have been daily driving a mustang that can do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and pull wheelies. 99% of people could be perfectly fine staying on a 300-400 for a year or 2.
Road series for life. I've rode the fives and now the sixes. You're right just tire is amazing in the wet. I live in Michigan we get our fair share of wet weather
Cool points, I agree but you didn't mention gear. Many motorcycle riders don't start with good gear and another thing is bike theft, that is one thing that shouldn't be overlooked.
Had mine for a little over a month and got a Rev’it jacket with protection and working on other things like good gloves etc. I an worried about theft too.
@@CB500Xoo7 you are better than me, it took me over 3 years to start buying dedicated gear, but as for theft I have extensive experience in that. One tip on theft is don't ever lend your bike out (no matter what sad story they tell you ) I have had two bikes stolen like that.

yup, I developed tinnitus from riding, it was too late when I found out, although I consistently used headphones with music on, still got it and it sucks , in retrospect its almost worth it, I had the best 2 years of my life whenI first started riding.
I use airpods pro when I ride for longer time, however it is a pain to get them out when you use a full face helmet like a Arai that is more tight, you need to also wear that head mask thing to keep the airpods pro in place when you remove the helmet.
Great video as always. Regarding the "zen" theory and not competing with cars: If I have a chance after someone cuts me off or causes a dangerous situation, I try to pull up next to them, have them roll down their window, and calmly explaine what happened. In most cases, they didn't even know that they did what they did, and are apologetic. This make them see bikers as a real human, and may change their awareness in the future. Throwing ball-bearings or pennies out of anger just creates more problems. Be a "Dude (Lebowski)" out there, and it just might save a fellow rider. Enjoy the ride, get home alive.
My MSF instructors called it the "Law of Gross Tonnage"; where the vehicle that weighs more will win. He noted that car drivers ignore this sometimes going against 18 wheelers and you can easily see those results; now imagine that, but everything weighs more than you. Doesn't matter if it's a Prius or a F-150, 4 wheels weigh more than you, and ignoring this law is a easy way to the ER.
I kept forgetting to wear earplugs for the first few months, started though because having to put them in sucks but having tinnitus sucks a little more.
I wonder how good noise canceling earbuds would work for riding.... they suck for half helmets because the sound of the wind rushing past them is very loud even at only 40 km/h (about 25mph or so, i don't know, I'm Canadian). i got a set of concert earplugs from my local music store. They let you hear the music cleanly, just at a lower volume, so it should be good for riding, too!
The thing I wish people told me; Experience riders won't suggest the best motorcycle for you. They'll tell you what fits best for them & their style. They don't mean harm, but they don't know what you like or what is comfortable for you.
I feel like i know what you mean with the shaved head thing, thats also super valueable info, its that day after shave or buzz length that gives you super grip on your hoodies and pulls on your eyelids when you just wanna take the fkn thing off. Guess i have that to look forward to lol cause i prefer 0 clipper length for maintainance, less than a full shave but no length by anymeans, its like our heads turn into snow tyres.
I wish I hadn't listened to my mechanic who told me it was okay to start on a liter sport bike (SV1000S). I have not been hurt riding it for 1.5 years, but the thing is huge, uncomfortable to ride under the speed limit or do long runs on the straight roads and really a pain in the ass to ride slowly in the parking lot: requires a lot of counterbalancing and really tires the hands.
A good helmet also reduces wind noise. I always believe that the more expensive ur bike is (hence faster) the more expensive ur helmet should be. The main diff with these helmets are for the most part wind noise. At a certain point helmets all provide the same protection but better noise cancellation goes side to side with price
My mt10 without ear plugs make such a low pitch that when you get between buildings it straight muffles out your hearing lol. only running a leo vince mid pipe to the factory can.
"car always win" That something every instructor should insist on. Then I was lucky my instructor insisted on that and stuff like "never trust others on the road" and "don't put you in situation where your security don't depend on you".
I have Bridgestone S22 on my MT-09 they are nice tires but when it's under 5 celcius outside. They are not so great. The grip is just not there. They take a long time to warm up.
Funny story; I forgot to put my earplugs in before a race 😂😂😂 Just leaving pit lane, I already wanted to pit straight back in 😂… then I hit the back straight… and I knew I had to keep the tyres warm so I pinned it. Let me tell you something; I had an SC Project end can (emphasis on the “can”) and a header-back pipe. From 9000 to 13000 RPM, it was excruciatingly painful…….. FROM 14000 TO 16000 RPM!!!!……. It’s like my bike flipped a switch and said “I am going to make your head explode now”. Literally, the change was easily noticeable at exactly 14000 RPM. Now obviously I didn’t have enough time to take my helmet off and put my plugs in on the grid. So I’m sure you know what’s coming next 😂… Everyone revved their bikes up ready to launch, and then the lights went out…………. BRO!! I. Wanted. To. Die. I genuinely thought there’s no way I don’t go deaf after this. Then we all reached the back straight as a group, with our bikes all around 14000 - 16000 RPM and I was just waiting for the moment where I’d suddenly hear nothing. But that was the longest race of my life. I struggled to concentrate from the noise, my lap times were all over the show, and it was just a nightmare. My ears were ringing for a week straight, no joke.

As someone thinking about getting started I wanted to say thanks for making these videos man. I’ve been doing a lot of learning on videos lately and haven’t took the class yet but yea thanks man
Same here. My class starts tomorrow night. Excited to have my license soon
Passed and been loving riding
I found that wearing earplugs with cardo actually makes the music sound better
I find it allows the bass to pass through better. I think it is because you hear the vibrations mostly
Love your channel. Just getting into riding at 35 because I’ve always been terrified of motorcycles (early memories, early life lessons). Anyway. This is my new hobby. Old hobby was music recording. So if you would like some audio tips. How to make it sound like CNN. Like a real person in a room. Not a person talking right into your ear. HMU. No shade. I get it. It’s a TON to learn.
Also not looking to get paid. Just trying to help. ✌️
I had custom molded silicone plugs that i bought for shooting when I started riding. Great for fast riding.
Ride zen. True words to live by.
Love my Diablo rosso 3s always the first mod I do. Then clutch and brake levers
I noticed this driving spiritedly in my BRZ with the windows down. I wear hearing protection for a lot of things now, even mowing the lawn. It’s worth it
I've ridden for 43 years. Quarter million miles. Any ride more than two blocks (all of them), I take the time to put earplugs in. Yammie knows...
Dang these tips were freaking awesome. I’m buying in MT 07 next month and your channel has been incredible for teaching me things that will make my life easier. You might have also given me knowledge that can save my life.
I’m excited to make videos of my writing that give me up ice and I’ll make sure to share that with you
A good Helmut helps with the wind in the ears..
Airoh for me..
Back in the day..
All really solid points..thank you for these. Ride on the safe side boys and girls ! Bless up.
Earplugs are a MUST! If you haven't tried Surefire EP3 or EP7s, you're missing out!!
Having a huge fairing on an adv bike makes plugs non essential i can even have my vissor up if i want .
@@ΑλεξανδροςΑμανατιδης-ι7ε Yea, it doesn't. No amount of fairing can do what earplugs can. You are still damaging your hearing without plugs in your situation.
@@bladeofwar Trust me i dont . I have way more trouble with noise when i am riding tractors . I rode naked bikes and it was unbearable even WITH earplugs that should tell you that either that all guys with naked bikes are fucking def(even with plugs or that i actually not need them in my bike cause i dont !The sounds i hear most are my exhaust and chain not the wind.
A question for you Yam related to tires. What's your opinion on going to the dark side?
Go to the dark side
As someone who was functionally raised on race tracks, ear pro is no joke. Rarely wore em as a kid and I had to start toughing through tinnitus in my teens. You lose can only lose your hearing once.
I trim my scalp pretty low 👨🏽🦲 but wear a balaclava always, and that makes it all good 👍🏽
I'll always remember my motorcycle safety teacher said whether you had the right of way doesn't matter if you're dead.
Just started on a z400, can attest I was surprised by the acceleration it can produce, and as a beginner it's reassuring to know I can let loose and have fun without putting on waaay to much speed accidentally.
I recently got a Ryker 900 Sport... it's a three wheel motorcycle, so I'm a little nervous about the judgement or how I'll be perceived when riding. But I love it so far and I'm having so much fun with it!
The people who judge you for what you ride aren't real riders. It's about the ride. All respect from trikes to sport bikes to harleys
As long as your enjoying yourself and being safe who care what any other rider thinks if anything you got bigger balls if we go into a corner a lil too fast the bike slides out from under us you go into one too fast its ontop of you trikes are whole other level lol theres a reason offroad trikes arent made anymore my mom called them widowmakers
Hey Mr.
I died at “Intercontinental ballistic missile”😭😭😭😭
Started wearing ear plugs a few weeks ago and as a new rider this has had made a huge difference in my riding experience😎👍
Whats good Yammie noob?. Good advice. What do you think of the Parallel twin vs Inline 4 engines? Kawasaki ZX4RR is an awesome bike....slow bike fast and a fast bike slow... 👏
Yeh, I think I made it maybe a week or two (on the 125 still) before fully committing to earplugs. Night and day!
I have a cbr300r. The amount of people who have come up to me and asked if it was the 600. One even asked if it was the fireblade. I’m not joking. All were very surprised it is only a 300. A kid came up and asking if it was a 600 one time. I said 300. And because I was leaving at that time. I let him have a rev. I like making kids days. And maybe they’ll get a motorcycle later in life
I watch you from Brazil, and you probably know our really is a bit different. I have a Honda shadow 750 and it’s considered a big bike lol
I wish I was told there's a bug that bites you once you ride, and next thing you know, u have a wall full of gear and 3 bikes 😂
im just started the msf corse and im planning to get my first 600bike soon. but prices today are freaking high. and it will only go up so yeah it takes a lot of money. but its defenetly worth it. :p
Despatch rider for thirty one years and never used earplugs as i hate anything in my ears.........
71 years old and hearing is still top notch!
P.S. Car drivers trying to kill you is an occupational hazard for couriers.
Cars always win is the most important moment. You really do nothing but risk your life by trying to settle the score with the car driver.
Not disputing earplugs but I’ve been riding without them for 50 years and still hear great. Full face helmet seems to be enough?
I spent the first 15 years of riding without ear plugs and my hearing has been damaged (tinnitus is a bitch btw) but now I always use them and I wish I always had
i will say. i got my first bike a week ago. it’s a ninja 300. and while i am ready to upgrade to a 600 already, that’s only because i rode dirt bikes a lot growing up, and have been daily driving a mustang that can do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and pull wheelies. 99% of people could be perfectly fine staying on a 300-400 for a year or 2.
My earpeace pros are a lifesaver. Or earsaver. I have foam earplugs as backup. The wind noise is real. And it’s loud.
Tires! I agree. I live in one of the wettest areas in the country. I invested in Michelin Road 6s. They are amazing.
Road series for life. I've rode the fives and now the sixes. You're right just tire is amazing in the wet. I live in Michigan we get our fair share of wet weather
Bridgestone makes phenomenal tires I’ve went so low idk how they held their grip pretty good wet/ mud traction too for a street tire lol
@@tjey379 well glad you got around to gear. 💪. That’s interesting for the theft part, sorry that happened and I’ll keep that in mind for sure. I found the revit jacket on offer up . Looking into gps tracking device. Amazon has these yellow reflective arm bands for joggers. They have Velcro at end so rapped them around passenger grab bars. Safe ridin dude and thank you for your response.
I’m a new rider and the self conscience comment hits home. I have a KTM, added bonus is orange is my favorite color. My bike, jacket, and helmet are all orange and black. I want to be visible but I also feel like other riders are like “Who tf wears all matching gear?”. Eh, I’m protected, comfortable, and having fun.
Dont count on being seen.
Despatch rider on a dayglo orange fully faired bike with matching top box and panniers as well as wearing a dayglo bib on a sunny day when a doctor hit me.
SorryMateIDidn'tSeeYou..........
Luckily, she was able to check me out on the road and my accident witness was an insurance loss adjuster!
Keep it between the hedges.
yup, I developed tinnitus from riding, it was too late when I found out, although I consistently used headphones with music on, still got it and it sucks , in retrospect its almost worth it, I had the best 2 years of my life whenI first started riding.
A high kwality helmed s a world difference compared to a budjet one.
So much quiter, and for longer trips just better for comfort ass well.
Having swapped both factory tires on my first bike for S22's...
I feel vindicated in having no money 🔥
I use airpods pro when I ride for longer time, however it is a pain to get them out when you use a full face helmet like a Arai that is more tight, you need to also wear that head mask thing to keep the airpods pro in place when you remove the helmet.
I DUNNO WHAT YOU WERE SAYING BUT LOUD EXHAUSTS NEVER HURT ME!!
Great Video, very entertaining, thank you!
What brand/model of tires do you recommend for casual highway?
Do you guys have any thoughts about Benelli TRK 702 X, besides being heavy?
For the ear plugs is that like including wearing them when you’ve got a full face helmet
"car always win"
That something every instructor should insist on. Then I was lucky my instructor insisted on that and stuff like "never trust others on the road" and "don't put you in situation where your security don't depend on you".
Always! Wear your plugs!
i love the valentino picture in the back
I have Bridgestone S22 on my MT-09 they are nice tires but when it's under 5 celcius outside. They are not so great. The grip is just not there. They take a long time to warm up.
I feel like I’m at Panera listening to a Ted talk 😭 but love it
Funny story; I forgot to put my earplugs in before a race 😂😂😂
Just leaving pit lane, I already wanted to pit straight back in 😂… then I hit the back straight… and I knew I had to keep the tyres warm so I pinned it.
Bro I just bought ear plugs last week. I have a 2019 R1 with a werkes exhaust so it’s very loud. Idk why it took me awhile to get plugs.
My vitacci 250 gtx efi is eye candy.
Exactly. Definitely telling the truth.
so a full face helmet is not enough for the wind noise for the ears? you need earplug with a full face helmet?
