I'm interested in your assessment of the driving position and handling of the Ram 5500 4x4 vs your Sprinter after you've done a trip or two. FYI - there's a lot of good info on mods and issues at the Dynamax forum.
The Dynamax handles and drives much better than the sprinter. It handles much better in the wind, softer ride with air ride, much better on gravel roads, and the cab is much quieter. I've done several trips and put on about 3,500+ miles on it already. The overall ride was what I was hoping for, but I had doubts that it would handle well. I want to add the air ride in the back because the front air ride is amazing. In a nutshell, there is no comparison.
Looks good. I have to get used to the big old RAM chassis. 🤪 I grew up a FORD guy. Couldn't help it, my dad was a Ford mechanic so only drove Ford's. Then by the time my wife and I stayed buying Volvos they were owned buy Ford. Seems it was meant to be. 😉 Anyway, looking forward to seeing all that you're going to show us. I'll be along for the ride.
Yeah I was never a Dodge guy. Mostly GMs. The Ram 5500 is impressing me so far. As for the engine, the Cummins is a true medium duty engine, so that part I'm very familiar with.
Surprisingly the cab is much more comfortable than the sprinter. The seats are a little softer and the Ram handles and drives much better including much better power. Also the cab noise is about 3-4 times quieter. All surprises. The visibility out the windshield is worse and of course getting from the cab to the house is much worse. Overall the Ram handles and drives much better than the sprinter. Gvwr is 19500. I need to get it weighed. The dry weight sticker says 17343 but occc sticker says 1800. Not sure where the discrepancy is.

Very Impressive. Is the cab as comfortable as your old MB View? (I have a View) What is the empty weight? what is the max gross weight allowed?
