Hi, dear and respected Gill, is very nice to see you, as usual you are giving us a lecture, cordial greetings from a Mexican person living in Japan, tanks again..
I am English and in my eighth decade but I had never heard of the schwa until three or four years ago. Since then, I have watched videos and read up on the subject. This video is excellent and I’m pleased that the UA-cam algorithms brought it to my attention! People often say that English is not taught properly these days. Judging by the very limited amount of grammar that I appear to have been taught in the fifties and sixties, I would challenge that claim.
You are the clearest English speaking teacher I've ever seen. While I can understand 70% of what you say, when I watch BBC this rate isn't even 20%.🙏🙏🙏
Thats the very BEST EXPLANATION of Schwa I have come across... and I have seen plenty trying to understand the Schwa better. Now it is very clear. THANK YOU VERY MICH. BLESS YOU !
Hello, thank you very much for your work! My native Russian language. I studied English on my own. For me, you are one of the best English teachers on UA-cam! Please be healthy and safe 💖⚘
This woman is clear, she is clever, and right about al she teaches, and she speaks well herself, and is obviously a kind person, so she is a 'find' and easy to listen to. Whew! John.
You have no idea how many videos I've seen about it and never understood. This means that teaching English is not for everyone, even those with a long list of credentials. Thank you a million times more :-)
Thank you, dear Gill, for an informative lesson! It reminds me of my 4-th grade at school, back to USSR! Nowdays, leaving in USA, I can see & hear the lingual differences between these two cultures! Anyway, I can't hesitate to listen for your classes because it's dipper my knowledge in English language, besides, I odor the way you're presented you lectures! Thank you very much!🌹
Hello Gill, fancy one never thought about it so deeply. Thank you so much for this lesson. I am presently in The City of Joy, Calcutta, thinking how lucky I am to have come across You and Engvid. Have a wonderful evening. We, are bursting in jubilation and festivity here in Calcutta!
Dear Gill, it's unbelievable) you speak so simple to comprehence. I'm not English native speaker, but i can easily understand most of the things you tell about! Thank you so much!
Oh noooo this reminds me of learning the Phonetic Alphabet talking my SLT Degree. The ORAL Examination was a doozy. Brummies have a terrible time learning Lateral Fricatives.....(both voice and unvoiced) As I'm a Welsh person it's easy peasy 😁 such fun
You are the best!!!! Greetings from Spain 👏👏👏🥇🥇🥇 I love your explanations, your accent when you show us (the learners) how to pronounce. Thank you so much! You really help with our English learning.
Gill, you are a wonderful teacher... Congrats! For many years, I taught Spanish and French as foreign languages; my specialty was pronunciation. Even in my native language (Spanish) It's not so easy.
Dear Gill. I’ve just discovered your videos. They look very useful. My wife and I try to improve our poor English. The Schwa sound is just the same sound than the Catalan neutral vowel.
In Russia, British English is predominantly studied as a foreign language at school, but schwa is not studied as deeply. There is no native speaker as a teacher to explain such nuances
In the early 90s in Kyrgyzstan, one of the former soviet republics, there was an introductory phase of 3 months in fonetics in English language institutes, so one could get to know all pronunciation nuances.
I never knew the name for that vowel! And I am studying English for quite long. Thank you very much, Gill, for the lesson and these useful bits of information!
GOOD 👍 Day , Dear Teacher of English Language ! Thanks 👍 You for Your Interesting On-line Lesson Here ! I BEEN to Learn of this Lesson, today ! __ Teacher Svetlana. 15 of Great OCTOBER TODAY ! //.

After studying English for years and years in school, I can't remember anyone ever mentioning this. I wish they had, because I had never realised such a thing and difference in pronounciation in some words by myself... Like man - postman
