I can remember port-a-walls on my Dad's 58 Edsel. That was a nasty fast car... I actually installed them when I first worked in a tire shop. Great video, thanks...
Very well done! JUST enough commentary,
In 6 mins I got more info than what would've taken 15 on other channels.
Thanks man👍🏼
Looks Great.
Portawalls, bring back great memories from my childhood. Dad ran Portawalls on his 49 Ford Conv. & his 56 Buick. That was 1961
Stay Real.
I couldn't tell the difference, and the old Pontiac still looked as good as the day you finished 👍!
haha she's got some wear and tear on her already
Man I love your Pontiac coupe! You are getting the great ride with radial tires and an awesome whiewall look, plus saving all kinds of cash. What's not to love??!!
Although it would be irreversible, rubber cement would vulcanized between the two materials and become an irreversible bond. Probably would eliminate separation and pop off
did you try to do this?????
Yeah anyone know if that shouldn't be done I was thinking the same
That would defeat the purpose. Ppl get these so when they get tore up or dirty you swap them out. They're great on motorcycles
Looks freakn amazing bud! I love what you've done with this car! The roof looks amazing! I'm gona rewatch the vidios showing your process! But yeah, that's one great looking car bud!
Car and tires both look great! Thanks for sharing
Tires look great, I really like that can!
The car looks great. back in the day the place i worked at used a bubble balancer. i balanced a Lot of tires with it. love all the video's
Good to see the Pontiac again. Looks even better than I remembered. I was afraid you sold it. Thanks for the video 😎👍
Used to do that when I was a kid . Didn't do a nice job like you're doing. But makes for a nice look for an economical price .They sure look good on that coupe.
Can't get tired of looking at this car. Soooo swooping. Love her lots.
This is awesome, and you can put them on the next set of tires without having to buy them all over again. I need to call my tire guy now.
Does Look Great No worries there !
Well done Brent Thanks for the video !
Brent, I'd like to suggest that you paint the rims of this Pontiac a medium carmel color or the interior color of your upholstery . I believe the contrast would seriously elevate the beauty of this car.
A Kickass looking rod!
Thanks for sharing!
🙌 YES! Many thanks for the info on these ol’school awesome equipment
Looks very cool Brent
That Pontiac is so cool 👌 still waiting for the phone call I can wait till your other project is done LoL take care
wow the car looks amazing . I hope my car wil look as good as yours when mine is finnished. You are so inspiring and make it look so easy and think I can do it to. So I did it for the last month i have been working on my Buick century restoring it and oploading videos to my channel . And it is all because i watched your channel and love your content
@Natsirt Boy yes I like his attitude and his easy going style 👍
@Natsirt Boy thank you
Great info on those! I thought of doing it but heard horror stories of how floppy they look and, fit. I think you have the technique down that looks great. 1-7/8” size for radials is a good tip. Thanks!
It’s still beyond my understanding why tire companies. Would send people out the door to their competitors to find just a simple thing like white wall tires. The ones for every day use. Don’t they realize how much nicer they look on some of the “luxury” cars that they make. Michelin, Ford, Gm. Are you listening?
Right on looks good! I think someone has been hard on the throttle and ripping up the town in the Pontiac!!! 👍
Nice Brent, looks good!
That car sure did come out looking sweet :-P Thanks for sharing
these whitewalls are inexpensive and looks beautiful! But from my personal experience (I had them on my VW beetle) and other friends on their classic cars, above certain speeds they become floppy and after a while they wear out the side of the tire, sometimes reaching the canvas. But i always smile when i see the Pontiac 😊😊😊
That looks great!
Nicely done 👍
Your car looks GOOD.
That sure is a sharp old school hot rod I like it a lot ;-)
I'm installing Port A Walls on my 91 Silverado Long bed. I can't wait.
Looking good 👍
There are still a couple of smaller brand tires that make the 70's - 80's style whitewalls. For the wide ones shown in this video, Coker Tires makes them in radial or bias belted versions. When I was growing up, we called them Gangster walls. If you watch some of the old gangster movies, most of there luxury cars wear wide whites like these.
Fabulous ride man 😃👍👌
Great video, thanks for the whitewall tip. Cool end to this video.
Good video I did this when I was 16 to a 56 Ford my first car I am now 73 and still going
So $350CA that's roughly two shillings If i recall correctly...
Those look great
Pontiac looks great 👍
Used these myself here in OZ. They are made in Turkey & sold all over the world. Billy J..... OZland.
Thank you, going to try that
Once I figure out what I'm doing with that Cordoba, I should get you to do the white walls for that
that thing looks bad ass man
Very interesting looks very very nice looks like a real white wall. I wanted to do that on my car, now is there any issues with leaking around the rim bead because that's in between the rim and the tire and theres a gap there. There's no issues with that Gap from the white wall. do you have to put any kind of sealer or anything in the bead? basically it's my question. you haven't had any issues with slow leaks on the rims?
The Munster mobile is rolling 🤗
I remember these in the 50’ they were always floppy, and you could tell they were phony wide whites.. Looks good
yeah these aren't to bad it's when you goto the 3" I find that happens on a radial, they never look right.
@@HalfassKustoms Keep us informed how they tolerate a lot of miles usage and being left outside.
I was thinking I was gonna do bias plies on my model A. I didn’t have a clue they cost that much. Might do radials after all
There cheaper for you guys down there. Think you can get some for like 600$ I've bought before but our dollar and brokerage usually ends up costing us double up here.
Hey man thanks for the vid going to install porta walls and spider caps on my f100 what size tire are you running with this set up ?
I remember something like that my dad had a 56 Ford in about 1964
Do you need bead sealer ? And if so do you put it in between the portawall and the tire...or the portawall and the rim?
So how have they held up? Any issues with washing and getting dirty or debris or cleaner between the tire and portawall? Do they have to be messed up often to keep flat and not curl up?
She’s looking good 😎👍
I always wondered how they ballanced tyres before the machines
i have a set in my shop but i did by 3: radial ww from diamond back a while back for my 46 .
I paint my own wide whites, from the rim to the edge of the tread, the stuff I use is from Walmart and actually works great,
More a raised white letter guy myself, any tips in that ?
You can still buy the tire balancer. It’s an art.
They do flap in the wind as my grand dad said but they do the trick.
What adhesive can be used that can easily removed when i change my tires? I didn't want to be floppy
muito elegante esse acabamento.
Very helpful
hi looking very cool
what size tires are those and what kind and what size were those portawalls you had got? and it looks excellent by the way
can you remove the portawalls when the tires are worn ,,and put them on the new tires ????
that is so cool. what do you call those center caps
Use rubber cmeant gule for the white walls
Can you put these whitewalls on while the tires are already on the car?
I’m wanting to add a car tire to the rear of my motorcycle. Can a porta wall be placed on both sides of a car tire? I currently have a motorcycle whitewall tire and I want to keep that look.
Thanks for the demo, my wife wantes these on her Dodge sweptline and I was wondering how well they work. Do you have a recommendation for good valve stems? I bought a giant pack off of Amazon and they rotted in a year!! Now trying to find a reliable source.
Are those 2"? They look great!
He said the three in Porter wall will not fit good on a radio tire when I bought the 3 inch what kind of tire should I put it on
🤔i came across an old set years ago and i did not think they make them anymore.
What size tires did you use?
Installed some on my motorcycle. The rear wheel wrinkles up. Any solution to fixing it. Any tire glue
That Hershey kiss looks sexy Brent great job on her ! Makes me smile every time i see it !
where do you buy them ?
Nice!
Just wondering if you could use contact adhesive to glue them on?
My install was a bit floppy for my taste. So I 3M pad-scrubbed the tire, cleaned with thinners. Applied high-grade contact cement, flashed off, then heat-gun the wall on there. Looks fantastic, we'll see how it holds up. My vintage trailer doesn't get used very often.
What size is that white wall
Can I put these on car without taking tiers off?
How much are they worth to buy them and where
I wonder how well 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive would work to stop the flop without harming the tire.
Can u use clear silicone too?
Where could I get those
That car is crackin!!!
Dont I need some adhesive to fix the white walls from flapping?
What a car ❤️
Look's Great..!
Price for white wall ?
Really enjoy what you do. My 60 TBird needs tires. Coker is $$? 75 or 70 profile? Based on how cool your Pontiac looks I’d like to give porta-walls a try. Please confirm your tires 215/70-15? 2” porta-walls?
I might go 225/70. Thanks a lot!
yeah think mine are 215/70 15, they work even better if your tire is little to wide for the rim I find. I say 2 inch but they are actually 1-7/8"
Thanks a lot!
So I have a 1950 Buick that’s has 3 inch wide white bias ply‘s have some deep cracks you don’t think the 3 inch porta wall will work on the radial tire?
They'll work but not very good on a radio it'll blister out on the bottom and not hold tight to the tire
Hi do these work on 07 Cadillac DTS daily driver ? Or are they no good ! Just for show ? Thanks
I love the Beef Gravy Car.
👏😎. Bravo. Great Work. 😎👍
It works👍👍🇨🇱
Pontiac is lookin good.
What about putting it on tires that are already on a vehicle
I guess as long as you have a way to break the bead it would work the same.
How are these holding up , i am about to try these on my 51 bullet nose studebaker 215 60 r60 I think 1 7/8 might be the right size
Can you please let me know the Brown Car model.
Live the car,but the color?maybe if it was at least with some gold flake in it.but agai beautiful styling and metal work.live your other choptops as well.keep up the content.
