      Lili Yurch I agree with you. However, his mum doesn't seem very warm with Satoshi.

    • @himirou8609
      @himirou8609 7 років тому +40

      Lili Yurch actually she seems fine to me. It's an Asian thing. Asian parents are quite formal with the partners of their children. At least that's the case here in south Asia.

    • @mindysmom6132
      @mindysmom6132 7 років тому +42

      Koh C H......Japanese parents are definitely more on the formal side. I grew up in America with my father, who was American of Japanese descent like me, and my mom who was from Japan. There wasn't a lot of hugging or my parents saying "I love you" when we were growing up. Don't get me wrong....we always knew, it just wasn't expressed. Until......my 2 year old nephew was killed in a tragic accident many years ago. That's when my parents realized that life was too short. Pretty much, from that point forward, it was daily hugs and lots of "I love you's."
      If you look at the previous cooking videos with Shinichi's mom and Satoshi, you can see how loving and sweet she is with him. ❤️

    • @PamelaProPeace
      @PamelaProPeace 7 років тому +13

      Mindy's Mom What a very sad way to discover how important expressing and showing (not just feeling) your love is. Seems your nephew's tragic death brought something good to your family - so that is his legacy.
      My mother was not Japanese but she certainly never showed love. She thought it would "spoil" us! I had to learn to SAY it out loud when I was much older. Now I do it all the time especially with my grandchildren but also with my kids and I can tell you it makes everybody feel good ... and when they say it back to you, there isn't a better feeling in the world! 💓💓 💓💓

    • @mindysmom6132
      @mindysmom6132 7 років тому +5

      Pamela J Levene......I agree! That definitely was Dakota's legacy for my parents. My sister (Dakota's mom), and I, when we would hug our parents--as young children, we always had to instigate that hug....they never did. I make sure and tell my family that I love them throughout the day, on a daily basis. There are many hugs as well. You just never know, and I would feel horrible if something were to happen to a family member, and the last words or actions, were not positive or happy. Especially, as my boys leave the house, and maneuver their car and motorcycle throughout the freeways of Los Angeles.
      You're so right, in that, there's no better feeling when your loved ones hug you and love you back. ❤️ I'm so sorry that your mom didn't want to "spoil" you with love. You learned to express love to your family. That's THE most important!!

    Anko, anko, anko!!!!! Hooray! So many delicious anko treats! I would love everything you tried on this trip to Jindaiji temple, the savory treats as well as the delicious anko treats. I was laughing so hard, because I was literally sitting here clapping when you ate the kusa manju. Thank you for that! I have had mugwort mochi, which was delicious, but I have never had it grilled. It must be so delicious! I also wish I could try those rice crackers. They look absolutely fantastic! If I am ever so fortunate to be able to visit Japan, I wish I could visit this temple. It is absolutely gorgeous. I'm so glad your mother could go there with you. It seemed like a wonderful day. Thanks for brightening my day so much with this video! I loved every bit of this video, your skits in the beginning, your mom's review of the foods you tasted, actually, everything was great, LOL. Thank you for such a wonderful video! I am planning my first trip to Japan (with my mother) next April. I have been doing a lot of research and keep a small journal about where to go, what to see and what to eat. I really enjoy how descriptive you are with the food and the Japanese terms for each. I am currently learning Japanese, and understand the challenge of learning another language. Thank you so much for learning English! あなたのえいごはすきです!ありがとございます!じゃあまたな。

    What a beautiful village! I loved the music that you paired with your video! Jindaiji Temple is definitely going on the books as one of our travel destinations, when we get to Japan one day......
    The arare looked so delicious! Especially, the shiso and togarashi flavors--two of my favorite flavors! Everything else looked really yummy too! Brother.....when you started eating the kakigori, my first thought was "where's the condensed milk?" ☺️ One cannot have kakigori with anko, and no milk.
    I agree with Grace Nakatsukasa, in that when your mama says "oishi-oishi," she really means that it's delicious!!! I cannot wait for more videos!!!

    Thanks for taking us with you to Jindaiji! What a beautiful place. The soba manju is right up my alley, and I've been craving takana for a while. Glad to hear you're a fan of Shigeru Mizuki too. I have a GeGeGe no Kitaro tin at home that I love. Always wonderful to see your lovely mom enjoying herself.
