You absolutely must do “Do You Feel Like We Do”. It’s like 13 minutes long, but it is an absolute masterpiece of guitar playing and other musicality. There is a Midnight Special video of him doing that song which is okay, but you really should do the “Frampton Comes Alive” version. It is truly a one of a kind musical experience.
I agree. The album is Frampton Comes Alive! It’s already a live version. No need to do Midnight Special version. Not as good as original, which we all remember.
Frampton was known as the artist who made the talk box famous. Frampton's talk box was used to transfer the guitar's sound through a plastic tube attached to a microphone. The effect is Frampton's melodic guitar simulating speech while asking the audience on the live track "Do You Feel Like We Do?" Frampton also now sells his own line of custom-designed "Frampton" products, including the talk box.
I don't know, it was pretty famous from Joe Walsh's Rocky Mountain Way, then came Frampton and he used it more extensively. Richie Sambora was pretty good with it, also, from Bon Jovi
Also known as a "chew tube". The guitar sound passes through the tube which the artist has in his/her mouth and manipulates the sound as it passes back into the mic. Simple but very cool.
The unique guitar effect Jay was asking about is called a "Talk box" that allows you to use your mouth to alter the sound. This was Peter Frampton's trade mark. He was one of the first and best to use the device.
@@carolynmorrissey1630 yeah, seems to be a common reactor version to do. They don’t know what they’re missing tho. Besides, Frampton Comes Alive is live as well.

Frampton's shows are AWESOME! So much energy and love for music comes out in his singing and playing. That is a talkbox that is hooked up to his guitar which allowed him to create amplified, distorted vocal sounds with his mouth. Nice job, RSR!

This is one of the very few live performances that are up to the standards of a studio album. It’s important to note that there was a lot of preparation ahead of time to make sure that the quality of the sound was accurately recorded so that what you hear when you listen to this album is almost exactly what you would have heard if you had been there. Much love ❤️

I was at a Frampton concert in a casino many years ago with a couple hundred guests. Very intimate setting when you literally less than 10ft away. What was really cool was there was this senior couple there rocking out. They knew all the tunes. Peter couldn't help but notice, and recognized them. The man then produced an autographed Frampton Comes Alive double LP. He asked if Peter would autograph it again. He was visibly tickled with that and happily did so. Awesome show and a memorable night. He'd retired due to a degenerative illness, but I just heard he's doing some touring this year, so maybe there have been some developments on that front.
That instrument is a guitar with a vocoder. Basically running his guitar though a talk box. You really need to check out 'Do You Feel Like I Do' He's one of the best rock and blues guitarists of the era and that is probably his most famous recording.
It is a "talk box", but not a vocoder. A talk box is one of the most analogue effects there is. From your profile pic, you probably have most of the stuff just sitting around to make your own talk box in a couple of hours.
When in Cincy, Ohio area you can hear Frampton’s music a lot! -in restaurants, bars, grilles, local FM radio, grocery stores, you name it-he seems to be everywhere. He must be well-liked around there. 😅 🎤 🎸 🎶

Always great to see Peter Frampton reactions, he's one of my favorite guitar players ever. Other songs to check out: his cover of Stevie Wonder's I Believe When I Fall in Love It Will Be Forever, I've Got My Eyes on You, Do You Feel Like I Do, Wind of Change, All I Want to Be (Is By Your Side). And from Humble Pie: Shine On, Stone Cold Fever, The Light and A Song For Jenny. More Frampton please!
This album was so big when it came out. I read in an interview with Frampton that when he received his first royalty check from this album it was either a penny or a few cents less of 1 million dollars. The album made so much money that Frampton created an arts scholarship at the University of San Francisco that is still ongoing today. He also went to school with David Bowie. They would get together at lunch time and play guitar together. Frampton's dad was the art teacher at the school. He encouraged them to go into his classroom at lunch and practice their playing. Throughout their lives private and professional they remained friends.
I am so glad y'all are finally doing this one! My older brother was very much into Frampton & I guess it was because he played this album on repeat while he was on summer break from school but Frampton's music has has an easy summer vibe to me. Because of my big brother, I am also a Frampton fan. Some more of his songs I'd suggest include "Do You Feel Like We Do"(this should be your next one), "I'm In You", "Baby (Somethin's Happening)", "All I Want To Be (Is By You Side)", (I'll Give You) Money" , "Lying", "Blooze" (which he performs with Warren Hayes), "It's a Plain Shame", "Lines on My Face" & "Day in the Sun" - imho anyway.
I was an official Frampton Freak in the late 70’s during my high school years. “Do You Feel Like We Do” has an awesome guitar solo. My favorite song of his. ❤
My two oldest grandchildren like to watch videos of other kids opening presents. It didn’t make sense to me until I watched as you two wonderful young people opened presents of your own - the music of my youth from 30, 40 & 50 years ago. My heart smiles when I see the looks of sincere joy plastered on your faces.
Be still my heart! I was a freshman in high school when this was a hit. Such good memories. Amazing how music can stir the emotions and make you feel like it was yesterday instead of 47 years ago (yikes)! The whole album was pretty amazing and still holds up.
Bought the album when it came out and played all four sides a lot. It does still hold up. I still have it and the CD I got later. I also like his album Now from 2003. Hard to believe that one is 20 years old already. Verge Of A Thing is a rocker and he does a great cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
The sound Peter Frampton is making comes from his guitar using what’s called a talk box. He puts a rubber tube in his mouth and the sounds are amplified through the sound system. It was a popular rock innovation in the 70’s.
What I wouldn’t do to go back to this time and see him live. I was a bit too young at the time for concerts but I got to see him back in 2011 or 12 with BB King.
Frampton was a beast live, and I know a lot of people are gonna suggest his hits from "Frampton Comes Alive". So for something a bit different, I'm gonna recommend the live version of Humble Pie's "I Don't Need No Doctor."
I walked past Peter at a Kroger in Cinci. My nephew and niece were with me and my nephew elbowed her and said ‘look, old school rocker’. I was darn proud !
This album was his breakthrough and it was HUGE in the mid 70's. The guitar sound effect was provided by a pedal called a 'Cry Baby' but goes by a number of different names.
Saw Peter about 11 years ago in Long Beach, CA. It was the anniversary of the album Frampton Comes Alive, he played the album front to back in order. The second hour he played blues, I was pleasantly surprised, he was fabulous!
Oh yea!! When he came out with Frampton Comes Alive, the whole world discovered Peter Frampton! That album and Bob Seger's Live Bullet are my two favorite live albums. Bob Seger, where's he been? 😁🤭🥰
Great guitarist. He played lead with Humble Pie! Oh. There it is! Great live performance. And the talking box. Have you ever heard the C & W song by Peter Drake called "Forever"? He merges pedal steel guitar and his voice for this. There's a live version from some old TV show out there. Well worth a look. Anyway, great suggestions below. Glad you liked it.
He was the master of the talk box, it allows musicians to modify the sound of a musical instrument by shaping the frequency content of the sound and to apply speech sounds (in the same way as singing) onto the sounds of the instrument. A talk box directs sound from the instrument into the musician's mouth by means of a plastic tube adjacent to a vocal microphone. The musician controls the modification of the instrument's sound by changing the shape of the mouth, "vocalizing" the instrument's output into a microphone.
This album was so epic that you'll probably have to react to most of it. It start out rockin' with "Somethings Happening" and "Doobie Whah". Later he does a short acoustic set which is great. After the acoustic set is a hard hitting rocker "I'll Give You Money" this shouldn't be missed! His cover of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" on this is incredible! You'll know why he's considered a great guitar player. Whatever you do...don't miss a chance to react to "Lines On My Face" and "Do You Feel Like We Do". Both are long songs ...BUT!...they are fan favorites and you'll hear why! 1975...what a great year for music..."Kiss Alive" came out the same year! The summers where hot and so was the music!
Peter Frampton did a tour for the 35th Anniversary of the Framton Comes Alive album. My wife and I went to Atlanta to see it, 3rd row and it was so good we went to the show in Hollywood Florida. Phenomenal shows! 🎉🎉😊😊

Such an underrated musician! Love him, saw him live in the 70’s!
My older sister absolutely loved Peter Frampton. I remember her room plastered with his posters etc everywhere.
"Do you feel like I do" is his biggest hit, but you MUST do the live version from this album, as the studio version was just so-so.
I'm In You is a ballad that showcases Peter's amazing voice. But Do you Feel Like We Do is Epic!!!!!!
This album was his breakthrough and it was HUGE in the mid 70's.
The guitar sound effect was provided by a pedal called a 'Cry Baby' but goes by a number of different names.
He’s talking about the talk box.
@@trappenweisseguy27 Yes. I thought he was only using that on 'Do You Feel Like We Do,' but he used it here, too.
I wana truck you . That got the girls ready!
Saw Peter about 11 years ago in Long Beach, CA. It was the anniversary of the album Frampton Comes Alive, he played the album front to back in order. The second hour he played blues, I was pleasantly surprised, he was fabulous!
do you feel like i do is another good one!!!! watch it live he plays with his voice box in that one
Oh yea!! When he came out with Frampton Comes Alive, the whole world discovered Peter Frampton! That album and Bob Seger's Live Bullet are my two favorite live albums. Bob Seger, where's he been? 😁🤭🥰
Best live album ever!
"PETER FRAMPTON LIVE" ONE OF BIGGEST SELLING LIVE ALBUMS EVER!!!! HE WAS GREATBIN CONCERT, TOO🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸😍😍😍😍😍🎸🎸
Great guitarist.
"Do you feel like we do " is a great song by Frampton to check out
This was the album everyone was listening to in 1975. That talk box was the talk of the town. Well done Mr. Frampton.
Pretty sure this is best selling live album of all time
“Do You Feel Like I Do” from the same album (Frampton Comes Alive) MUST be your next Frampton song to react to.
One of my favorite artist going through high school in the 70’s. Still is! One of the coolest guys too!
I was in college when this album came out. There are a number of very good live videos of this song.
Peter Frampton did a tour for the 35th Anniversary of the Framton Comes Alive album. My wife and I went to Atlanta to see it, 3rd row and it was so good we went to the show in Hollywood Florida. Phenomenal shows! 🎉🎉😊😊
Humble Pie “I don’t need no doctor” live at the Filmore or “Do you feel like I do” from the the same album are also good songs too.
Heard this song a LOT. Great song from him. "Do You Feel Like We Do" is another great hit. So cool that he has your birthday, Jordan. He's 73.
Great rhythmics in this song 🎵 yall 👏
This was my first concert 1974, he was the back up band with Edgar Winter. I feel in love for a quick minute
This is the greatest live album ever. Every song is great. They caught lighting in a bottle. Everyone had this album. The entire album is 🔥.
Try Do you Feel Like I do.
BTW the instrument is his guitar with a talk box.
As a 13yr old I was soooo in luv with Peter Frampton, The Herd... From the Underworld..! 😂💕He was so cute
One of the greatest albums ever. The hidden gem is "Doobie Wah "
Every rocker in the world owned this album in world ✌️🙂
Yes, Peter is playing a talkbox 😉
You guys will love Peter Frampton, this is one of his best. You should also check out his special on the "Midnight Special", "Do You Feel Like We Do", it's one of his best performances.
This was the first Frampton song I ever heard- instantly hooked. Been lucky enough to see him five times- the first one at Arrowhead Stadium in KC with Styx and Steve Miller. Still a little bit in love with him.
the voice box is cool but you need to watch him live to see him play it
