Can you just IMAGINE growing up listening to this and all of the other music you've reacted to? Most of us here HAVE... We are blessed with growing up in the most experimental and amazing times for music.
I totally agree with you. It was all the best. Not like today. Kids do not know what they are missing now.
So true. No question, we had the best music ever.
Pivotal time for music. As, Robert Plant has said, "during that time there was no textbook". Bands just went for it, like you said, it was experimental, the most important time for music. I think musicians took their craft seriously - some may today, but not to the degree they did then. Now, imo, what the hell went wrong???? There are some great bands out there now, but you have to look. Soooo glad I grew up then - you are right we are blessed to have grown up during those times.✌❤
I second that reality, and for me, watching the reactions of the younger generation to the music of our lives takes me right back there I so wish I was there right now God I miss that America….😕
It was a cool time! I miss them.
My name is Angie. I have always loved this song. I have an uncle who plays acoustic guitar and sings. He has sung this to me since I was a little girl. It brings back sweet memories for me. He sang it to me at one of our family reunions about 8 years ago when I was 45. It transported me right back to 9 years old again.
Good bless you...all of your family
Butterfly mama , great song Angie , many more years of rocking 👍🚬🍺🥃
Song about an ill-fated affair with David Bowie's girlfriend.
That is the mighty Keith Richards on that awesome acoustic guitar. He also wrote the majority of the song... lyrics, guitar and piano. Legend.
They did a show in England, I forget the title, with John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, and Kieth Richards on bass. Stumbled across it once, and had to see it. It was excellent.
@@buckyc.9069 Rock and Roll Circus
@@buckyc.9069 It's on UA-cam. They play the Beatles song "Yer Blues". Lennon on rhythm, Clapton on lead, Keith on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. Just search for Dirty Mac
It’s Keith AND Mick Taylor on acoustic. But reading Keith’s autobiography, one learns of the love he has for that form of the instrument. He basically says that if you want to be a guitarist, first master the acoustic.
I think a guy named Nicky Hopkins is on piano.?
So excited you're doing Angie!!! My fav Stones song. When I was in middle school (I am now 61) my older, VERY cool cousin used to drop me off at school on her way to work every day. One day this song came on the radio. I asked how in the world did anyone like this song, and declared that the singer could NOT sing. LOL. She laughed and then proceeded to explain music to me. She taught me to appreciate the unique and different, to find the beauty in imperfection. She taught me to love Mick Jagger, and subsequently many other "unique" voices. She died of a brain tumor very young and I miss her every day. This song is always for her when I hear it. I owe her so much. Side note to end with a happy thought.... my youngest son came to me one day and said "MOM did you know that Mick Jagger's first name is Mick??!! How crazy is that???" I said, "Daniel, I don't understand.. . of course Mick Jagger's name is Mick... what are you talking about?" He said, "All this time, I thought people were saying McJagger, and I thought Mick McJagger was a funny name.'" LOL. Love to you and your darling little family. Keep on keeping on.
McJagger - hah! I wonder what they'd put on that burger...
@@keithosmond5730 lol! Right??!
Lovely stuff; from a fellow 61 year old !!
How fortunate to have your cousin at such a formative time!
Sorry for your loss. But she taught you so much!! That was one thing she was born to do and she did a wonderful job teaching you!! Your son’s story was cute!!
Nicky Hopkins' piano playing on this is stellar. Really makes the song.
He should get way more credit than he does. Legend. ✌️
I was loving the piano and didn't know 2ho played it, thank-you.
I like the strings too.
Love his work on "Fresh Air" while with Quicksilver Messenger Service
Nicky is my favourite pianist - on this he is so soulful!
Now that the Stones are back on the table. You MUST listen to "Can't you hear me knocking" the extended version! It is incredible
+1 for Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”
My favorite tune of theirs. Especially that dirty sax!!
Good call!
Some of the best music ever made. The outro jam is as good as music gets if you ask me. The back story about the jam is great too.
The guitar riff is incredible and I agree with Bruce. The outro!
Fantastic song!! The Stones greatest ever ballad. Don't forget the contribution from the rest of the band - just awesome!!
I agree
Respectfully, the Stones' best ballad, IMO, is another song off this album: "Winter"
And Nicky Hopkins on piano.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)" and "She's So Cold" !!! The biggest band I ever saw in concert, 1997.
Great choice.
edit- Mick Jagger - vocals; Keith Richards - acoustic guitar; Mick Taylor - acoustic guitar' Bill Wyman - bass; Charlie Watts - drums.
Nicky Hopkins - piano; Nicky Harrison - string arrangement.
Yezzz indeed. Like your choices too man!
@@jeffreyflint6286 thanks man!
Love It's So Cold!

@@jamesbuckingham357 no problem. Your cheap shots at someone to make yourself feel better are interesting . Humanitarians don't go around insulting others without knowing them.
Early MUST HEAR Classics,, The Rolling Stones "Get Off My Cloud" & "Tumbling Dice"
This is one of my all time favourite Stones ballad.
I was in high school when "Angie" was released. We actually had a jukebox in our cafeteria. We knew "Angie" was about to play before the music and vocals on the record even began because of the sound of sracthing and popping from being played so much!
When I hear it, I'm brought right back to that time and place!
1973 was a great year for music and this song is one of the reasons why. A rare ballad from the Stones, this was Number One on the charts until Gladys Knight and The Pips knocked them out of the top spot. Do a deep dive into the big hits of 1973. You'll be glad you did!
This song and Fool To Cry are my favorite ballads by The Rolling Stones.
My daughter is named Angie because of this song. Years before she was born I knew this was going to be her name.
Keith’s daughters name is Angela and that is where the name came from,
Too bad "Brandy" by 'Looking Glass' wasn't your favorite song.
Was in the navy, and the ship was named Richard s Edwards, my son in named Richard, and my dog is Edwards
That is awesome!
My mom named me after this song, also!
Everyone loves "Angie"!!! It's one of their most loved songs. They had a 90's song that's kinda like this one. It's called "Out Of Tears." That's another one of my favorites.
I was 16 when this was released. Even though my name is Angela, lots of people call me Angie. So I loved this song when it was released - and I still do. Brings back wonderful memories. Thanks for all the reactions you do. Cheers from Sydney Australia .
Mick draws us in with every song he sings. Easily in the top 10 musical entertainers of ALL TIME.
Definitely top 10.
Yeah but I always pay more attention to the composition of the songs. I think he was even a more prolific writer than performer. 2nd to only Lennon/McCartney in terms of a song writing duo- Jagger/Moon
This song is 60 years old and it has NO Dust on it. A Stones Classic that is still played over the air. And for Jay there is a video of this song, and Mick doesn't make any of his typical gestures, just sings it with Soul.
This was always my favorite Stones song. I was a little kid when it came out but I was immediately enraptured by it every time it came on the radio and have loved this song ever since. The melody, the guitar, the strings, the piano, and Jagger's voice, all of it. As I grew older and began to understand the words, I fell even more in love with it. I can get lost in this song.
The Mick Taylor years….the best of the Stones
I’ve heard this song many times, but just now is the first time I heard it with headphones. Wow! Hearing the violin and piano in that way makes me appreciate it so much more.
I was in High School in the 80’s and I grew up listening to music mostly from the 60’s to the early 90’s. I had an amazing vinyl record collection and the parties were amazing!! I love your channel for bringing it all back and establishing these songs as classics!! I am so grateful for my music education!! ❤
This is my All Time Favorite song from The Rolling Stones.
Thank you ! I was one who kept requesting this song !
In Keith’s book, he describes their song writing process. It’s usually Keith comes up with the riff, he gives it to Mick who adds the lyrics and the it goes back to Keith who rounds out the instrumentation. Some of the songs, they write on their own. While I usually associated Keith with the rocking songs and Mick with the ballads, Keith revealed two surprises. Start Me Up, which has one of their most iconic riffs, was entirely written by Mick. And Angie, which I always assumed was penned by Mick, was 100% Keith.
Sometime try Keith doing the song "Sing Me Back Home Before I Die" I believe he played the piano on that one-a very different side for him.
Keith is the soul of the Stones and the real musician. Mick is the attitude and energy. When he writes lyrics, they are usually an afterthought -- after the music is down.
Written exclusively by Keith Richards. The tough guys always write the most beautiful songs.
Another emotional track by the great Rolling Stones is “As Tears Go By”.
Named my daughter for this song. Makes me cry always! Especially during her years of drug addiction and incarceration. Clean for a little over a year now. I remember all the nights I've cried . And I think the clouds have all disappeared. Still praying. Praise the Almighty! I love you Angie!!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
There was a girl named Angie in our group of friends when this song came out. She was in heaven and played it at every parth.
That piano and when he whispers 'Angie' just pulls me in.
When I heard Wild Horses was your favorite, I knew this would be a Rolling Stones favorite for you too. This was my first slow dance at an 8th grade school dance (1975) and always brings back fond memories for me. His voice is just beautiful in this. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
A rare ballad and one of my favorite songs.
Brown Sugar, Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil, You Can't Always Get What You Want, It's Only Rock 'N Roll, Angie and Beast of Burden are arguably seven of the Stones' best songs but I've come around to Can't You Hear Me Knockin' as possibly their absolute best. Dirty rockin' blues with Mick and Keith at their peak and incredible sax and piano work.
BEST STONES 70s STONEs
What has always attracted me to The Stones, is their incredible versatility and the ability to transcend so many genre's with such ease. Not to mention their incredible longevity.
@@jamesbuckingham357 Let's just get one thing very straight up front, you obnoxious worm..... I do not in any way whatsoever support rape or pedophilia, in fact, I absolutely abhor it and have stated such on many UA-cam videos on the subject. Not that you bothered to find that out. By enjoying songs by whoever, does not make anyone a supporter of illegal activities. I love the music of Jim Morrison, that does not make me a supporter of alcohol or alcoholism. Perhaps that's something you need to consider before you start making wild accusations.
@@jamesbuckingham357 You really are a deluded assehole so go fuck yourself.... that's the last word from me as I refuse to be drawn into a disagreement any further with a moron.
A heartbreak, from start to finish. A love that just kind of just, fizzled out. Facing the truth can be the most painful lesson of all. Ever been so heartbroken you can't force out words? That's the sound Mick is singing.
I've seen them do this number 3 different times. Once you see them live, you easily realize why they are who they are
Me too!
Yes! The angst before Angie, it really emotes! This is my favorite Stones song.
Awesome song!! I love watching your faces when I know it's going to be an awesome song and your hearing it for the first time 😊
One of my favorite Rolling Stones songs!
Such a sad but beautiful song. It's my favorite from them.
One of the greatest groups of all time.
One of my favorites of theirs is "Mothers Little Helper", if you've never heard that it's a good one.
Probably the best Stones song ever.
Ya, the late 60’s and 70’s were a musical paradise 😎
Nicky Hopkins on the absolutely beautiful piano...best part of the song
She's like a rainbow, from the Stones... You two would really love that one too
"Ruby Tuesday" is another great ballad by the Stones.
I remember the first time I heard this song. It was on a TV show in the 1970s. I was maybe 9 years old. He was dressed as a woman and had blue eye shadow on. At the time it was not something you saw on American prime time shows. I watched it with my parents. My dad thought it was cool he tried it. My mom, who was a classical pianist and trained soprano loved how beautiful the song was. I would say as I got older, this is the only song bad boy Mick sang that made me cry, especially at the end.
Next rolling stones song... She's a Rainbow. Totally trippy and probably my favorite song by the Stones
Yes, Yes, Yes!!! She's a Rainbow is 💥💥💥
Search back about 9 months...Amber loved it. It is one of my favorites and so different than their usual stuff.
@@canonfodder2068 sorry I missed that reaction 😲
We’ve had just about enough of Rainbows and there’s so many way better songs to do, like Sister Morphine, Gimme Shelter, Wild Horses, Love In Vain… in fact the entire Sticky Fingers, Beggars Banquet and Let it Bleed albums are a must.
@@dickcnormis1444 true there are so many great songs to choose from by the Stones. Everyone has a favorite. So much to choose from, so little time 🎶🎶🎶🎶
"Ruby Tuesday" is another Rolling Stones song that is worthy of a listen.
One of my favorite songs from them.
That's a heartbreaker of a song...
I love these older songs. That's when you get to the roots.
This is my favorite Stones tune. It's hauntingly beautiful. I cry every time I hear it.
If you want to go way different, try Emotional Rescue. I can already imagine Jay getting into the funky bass and Amber falling in love with the vocals.
'Loving Cup" is such a great song - you would love it. Jagger is on fire. The drums...THANK YOU It builds beautifully.
This song is like THE most famous loved song by them!
Their Song “‘She’s So Cold” Was Everything .
My favorite Stones song. It came out at a difficult time in my life. It still cuts to my soul.
Greatest Band in the world 😊
The Rolling Stones "Fool To Cry"...Nuff Said.
I love this song! The most beautiful breakup song ever!! Mick Jagger has a unique and distinctive voice which I love! He is immediately recognizable and I appreciate that plus the writing is amazing too!❤❤
This song brings back that childhood feeling!!! 😍😍
100%!!!!!♥️
I love this song💕 Thank you so much for reacting to this.
The look you got in your eyes the second you heard his voice said it all!!
Great group, Great Song. I saw the Voodoo Lounge Tour live and they were awesome.
Steel Wheels for me at Yankee Stadium. Everyone should go at least once.
Voodoo Lounge in Winnipeg. Still my favourite of all the shows I've seen.
Voodoo Lounge in Dallas for me❤
Raw and gritty but mellow.
Another stellar but super chill Stones song is, *"Time Waits For No One".* The two Micks really shine: Mick Jagger, of course; and, Mick Taylor, who gives us a gorgeous jazz-inspired guitar solo. Trust me, Jay and Amber, you'll love it! (Studio version, of course.)
I've watched these two in many dozens reactions and Amber is certified old soul: I met good people with her sensibility and vibes back in the 60s 70s.
"Ruby Tuesday" and "As Tears Go By" also showcase the softer side of the Stones.
One of my favorites from The Rolling Stones! Yes, we grew up with all the best music! Check out Angie Baby by Helen Ready!
Great song, Ruby Tuesday, Dandelion too...
Can't go wrong with the Stone's!!!❤❤❤
Fantastic song. Showcases Mick's vocals and is simply a stunning song.
Some girls is my favorite Stones album.I also like when Kieth sings.Happy, before they make me run,Little T and A
Rolling stones are the definition of rock music to me that's full of raw unfiltered emotions
As soon as you said "Wild Horses" I was like oh man they are gonna love this song. "Angie" is so soulful it makes you weap.
'Gimme Shelter' and 'Wild Horses' are probably my top Stones songs; but since there are so many great Stones songs, it's hard to reach a definitive conclusion. Guess it's just what you're in the mood for. What I'm feeling next for you is 'It's Only Rock n Roll (But I Like It).'
When this song came out in 1973, there was speculation that it was written about Angela Bowie, David Bowie's first wife. Those rumors were squashed once Keith Richards said he wrote it because he liked the name, however, Mick Jagger said it was about his break-up with Marianne Faithful.
This is maybe the greatest break-up song of all time. I remember seeing the Stones do this live on Saturday Night Live back in the 1970s. I wish I had been able to understand then how special what I was seeing and hearing really was. Life is a blessing whenever it is given to you, but I do feel especially blessed to have grown up with the music I did.
I took it too much for granted. Listening to reactions helps me appreciate what we had (have!)
Angie and the Rod Stewart song Maggie May sort of live together in my mind. Maybe you could say those two cars share a garage.
Absolute Rolling Stones Classic. That whole album is the goat in its self .
This song shows you the range of The Rolling Stones.
Keith playing acoustic guitar.
My dad got to meet Mick Jagger when he worked for a Holiday Inn at martinsville, Va.
Said he was super humble and very kind. As was the other members of the band. This was early 70s.
Much love
I hope you'll get around to doing "Undercover of the Night". It's one of their 80s songs, and it's full of Jagger swag!
My guitar teacher had already gone to California, and me only about 9 had to self teach on guitar from then on, I had 1 song under my belt, had just found some of the chords to Love to Change the World- Ten Years After, but could not go any further in life without learning this song. Took me about 1500 times stopping the record on the turn-table to work this song out. One of the Best Songs Ever!!! THANKS FOR THE REMINDER!!!
Such a classic Stones song! I love this song, and a chance to see Mick…. It’s a win, win! LoL
One of my favourite Stones songs.
Also: Paint it Black!!
Released in October 1973, this was their 7th Number 1 US hit. Keith wrote the majority of this music and lyrics while in detox in Switzerland some saying it was his unborn daughter. David Bowie's wife Angie started a rumor she had caught Mick and David in bed together. Then this was supposed to be Mick's make up song to her. Who knows ?
A rare ballad from Goatshead Soup, this was so beautiful with violins 🎻, beautiful piano and very appealing lyrics, it was an instant hit. Very different from their usual hard, aggressive rock and roll style. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
A variant of this story (Mick and David found nude in bed together!) was reported in Time magazine in 1973, in an article on the rise of "glam rock." And everyone in high school was going, "Yeah, Angie Bowie!" The piano is the amazing Nicky Hopkins. Great record.
She included the story in her book as well. But now reading that Keith wrote the lyrics makes me wonder if Keith was actually in love with her?! Ah, the 70's when beds rotated almost as much as the people in them. LOL
Angie is my favorite RS song.
My cousin passed away in 2015.... They played this on her tribute video... Her name was Angela we called her Angie
Always love this one. You still need to hear The Stones singing country. Sweet Virginia or Dead Flowers are really good.
Great reaction again guys..
Stones, Beatles, Bob Dylan., the Who.. Zeppelin,..Pink Floyd... etc..
60's and 70's... the best...!!!
Another classic not to be missed - "Sister Morphine." Haunting. Wonderful slide by Ry cooder. Amazing song. THANK YOU AGAIN
Another really good one with lyrics by Marianne Faithfull, I actually like her version better.
@@arlaabrell8658 the slide guitar sells it, but her version is cool.
Sticky Fingers is my favorite album.
Amazingly, this Rolling Stones song made it to #1 on the US charts but never made it passed #5 in the UK, their home country.
The song is said to be based, at least in part, on Mick Jagger's breakup with Marianne Faithful.
Suggesting "Bitch" for the next Rolling Stones song. It has one of the best guitar riffs the Stones ever did along with a strong horn section and some funny but very relatable lyrics.
I'll add that it's not about what one might think it's about. Jay and Amber, please don't let the title put you off this song.
Great tune!!
Wild Horses and Angie are 2 of my top twenty favorites by The Stones!
Memory Motel, one of their best deep album cuts.
"Her eyes were hazel and her teeth were slightly curved"
Love that song.
My favorite waltzes - Rolling Stones - Angie, Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven, Styx - Babe
This is one of their best songs for me , Jagger sounds so good in this song💕
So happy that you discovered this beautiful song. Having tried to sing it often and failed, it makes me appreciate how well Mick can sing.
Loved the acoustic guitar and the sensitive arrangement.
One of the great things about most of the artists we grew up listening to was that they never allowed themselves to get stuck in a rut. Just when you thought you had them pegged, they'd switch it up and do something completely different. We were SOOO BLESSED to grow up hearing all of this incredible music!
My brother went to school with Mick Jagger and I went to my first `Stones concert with my brother and sister when I was 8 so I have quite literally grown up with the Stones as the soundtrack of my life.
Wow!!! So cool.
