    For those reading about Lisbon I have an idea for you if you just want to explore the city. You can get a 24 hr transit pass for a reasonable price that allows you to get on any tram or bus or metro and one of the ferries. Then hop on whatever bus or tram comes first. Ride it a while till you see something interesting and want to get off. Then get on the next bus or tram that comes along and do the same. Don't worry about where they are going. At the end of the day use a map and figure out how to get back to your hotel or just call an UBER as they are very cheap in Lisbon and get a direct ride home.

      Great tip! Wish we did this the transit options are incredible in Lisbon and fun and scenic. Great great tip! Where was the ferry and where does it go? I don’t remember seeing it on our visit.

    We are Americans living in Lisbon. We found your channel yesterday and binged about 15 videos! (Liked and subscribed, of course!) We’re a bit obsessed (not in a creepy way) The quesadilla place in this video is a place we’ve walked by so many times but have never tried. Because of this video we ate there today. Fabulous! Next time you’re in Lisbon we’d love to buy you dinner! Safe travels!

    Just returned from 10 days in Lisbon from the center of the USA. 100% of our meals were fantastic. Some restaurants we read reviews for but most were places we just walked past and decided to give it a try. Every single meal we ate everything on the plate. I have Celiac Disease and Lisbon was one of the easiest places to find quality gluten free meals. We love seafood so that made it easy.

    • @HeresGoodTravel
      @HeresGoodTravel  9 місяців тому

      Wow how interesting! Had no idea that it was so gluten free accommodating, that’s really cool. There is nothing better than stumbling into a restaurant you know nothing about and having a great experience and delicious food, this is why we spend so much time on the road! Thanks so kindly for you comment and we are jealous of your 10 days in Portugal! Have an awesome day and happy adventuring!

    Lisboeta here. Just to clarify one thing before you make a mistake visiting Portugal. Bifana is a type of pork cut, it's not a dish. You can have it grilled with rice for instance. The famous bifana sandwiches are 2, bifanas de vendas novas and bifanas à moda do Porto. We can argue which ones are the best, but for tourists, the hype is usually about bifanas à moda do Porto because of the sauce, they're slowly cooked in a tomato, beer, garlic, onions, port wine, whisky, plus some aromatics and spices. That's what you need to search for. In Lisbon you usually find bifanas à moda de Vendas Novas, which you did since those weren't cooked in a tomato sauce, just beer, garlic, bay leaves and some spices including chilli flakes

    Guys you seriously need to stop saying to local how cheap they charge, local clients those that actually sustain the very life of these busineses will appreciate that you do not tamper with the fair prices. Remember they get their portuguese salaries that have to be enough for them to be able to afford lunch and living in lisbon.

    • @cathrinrobitaille7719
      @cathrinrobitaille7719 10 місяців тому +1

      Remember that saying cheap or expensive is your personal perspective and that the things that are expensive to you maybe considered cheap by other people and you wouldn't like that one day you cannot longer afford lunch because of gentrification (local greed).

      @@HeresGoodTravel One type of restaurant you can find everywhere are the "Churrasqueiras" which basically just grill everything over coals, you can choose wathever meat you want or fish and they grill it, its fast and cheap, freshly made delicious.. the traditional choice would be the piri piri chicken or pork ribs with a side of fries, they also have take away and thats what most portuguese take home to avoid cooking instead of fast food restaurants. It costs around 10-20 euros if you eat there with bread, fries, salad, coffee etc.., takeaway chicken goes for 6-8 euros for the single chicken usually. Im from the north so I cant recommend Lisbon spots personally, the few I know you can find on the many portuguese food videos around, it seems theres lots of youtubers doing it and they tend to choose pretty good spots with the ocasional trap.

      Wow that’s a great question. We don’t recall being charged a seating fee or dining in fee at any of the places but it could be that there is a service charge added. We just don’t recall, sorry

      Wow! So are they seasonal during the summer? We were only there a short time and had so much more on our list but we will add grilled sardines to it. Our friends just went and we had them bring us back so much tinned fish and piri piri😂. Thanks for watching and commenting and giving a great tip!

    Portugise quesadilla as you called, is actually Italian Piadina Romagnola from Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Sorry but I just cant hear you calling Torttila, come and eat it in Italy, we fill with fresh grilled vegetables, cheese and different salumi.

    Sorry to ruin the very beginning of this video, BUT La Piadina is an italian brand of traditional poor fast food, piadina. Which is italian. If it was a quesadilla they would have call the place “La quesadilla “. (And to be even more specific, La Piadina has been acquired by CVC which is a British investment company)

      @HeresGoodTravel it would have been nice for you to at least acknowledge your ignorance and lack of knowledge and education about the food/location you showcased at the beginning of your video that was pointed out to you by @SpeakGerman, your response of "it was a cheap tasty snack" was dismissive and shows the reason why many Americans are not respected travelers in many areas of the world, you may have all the money but none of the class...🙄

    --------The Portuguese didnt whent to France to study cooking or pastry in the XIV, XV, XVI century, in fact it was the contrary at the time, food in France was a disgrace, the French court imported cooks from Spain and Italy, to improve the quality and to obtain new recipes, as the mayonnaises and croasaints, jams, and so on, the good that comes from this is that they create many cooking books with all of this, that are used thil today .Portugal as a complitely different and original tradition of food and pastries till today, also adapting from other countries.

    Nice survey of snacks, but not true Portuguese food. It's pastel de nata.Pateis is the plural and it's not pronounced "pastis" Quesadillas are not Portuguese. Those do look like good bifanas; there are a lot that aren't so great. ALSO PLEASE TIP 10%!! Portuguese wages are awful and things are getting more expensive due to expats and tourists.
