    Hi Nell,
my Aeoniums (arboreum atropurpureum / Zwartkop) are beautifully black in the summer (and on the balcony).
In the winter months they turn green and stay so until spring and brighter days return.
In the summer months I need to protect them from the scorching midday sun, though, but morning and afternoon / evening sun does them a world of good.
Best wishes from Berlin to the Arizona desert.
    Marc

Find someone to give you a cutting - they propagate so easily! Nell

I brought a cutting from San Jose to Portland last summer. It wintered very well here and has grown to 14” above the soil. It was a mild winter so I’ll likely winter it in the greenhouse this year.

Hi do you have time to anwser a question? I have several kinds of aeoniums I bought this winter and I also live in he desert, where it gets to 100-115 in the summer. I just watched a video where someone said don't water them in summer, are you saying in the desert we should water weekly? And should I keep them in shade ?

Hello, I purchased an Aeonium Urbicum a few months ago, here in Tucson. At first it looked beautiful like the one in your video. However, in the last few weeks the leaves started curling, turning a little yellow and getting wrinkly. What is happening? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
I enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting! I have several Aeoniums that were in pots and trying to make it through our very wet (abnormally wet) winter in northern San Diego County. (Escondido) They became very droopy and spindly. We took them out of their pots and put them in the ground in a raised bed. So many of the branches broke in the process. Several of the remaining branches needed to be propped up with stakes and ties. They are in partial sun with a succulent mix now. Any suggestions to ensure their success? Is it true that once aeoniums flower they die? Thanks again. You have beautiful plants and seem to know what you are talking about.
    Kind regards,
    Josh

I received black aeonium trimmings from a friend that turned green once I planted and watered them. Why is this? Thanks!

They turn green because they aren't getting the sunlight required to keep them purple

Hi. Thank you so much for this video. I’m in Mesa. I have lived here for 4 years. So I’m learning what can grow here. So different then California. The one I just got today is called a Marxist Gras. I have it in the house for now. But would like to have it outside.

Wow this video is too long. I wish you gone to pruning on how to get it to branch. I see babies growing on the face of the flower. How do you get it to grow from the branch? Also I just got a 2.5 inches baby I wonder how many years to get to that size
