I enjoy your videos, even the ones that feature clubs which will never grace my small 6" carry bag (essentially ALL of them). I'm also over 80 and still a 6-handicap from the middle tees. So here's my 2-pence for "average" golfers, in no particular order: 1) Get fitted, so your clubs aren't working against you. 2) Carry fewer clubs, learn to hit some half and 3/4 shots, become a REAL golfer, not just somebody pounding balls. 3) WALK, always walk. It stretches the big muscles you use to hit golf balls...and you get a bit of exercise and you appreciate the naturall beauty of the course more. 4) Get some lessons, even if you are playing well. Let somebody who can objectively judge critique your efforts. 5) Spend just as much time on the putting green as you do on the range, and spend that time working on 4-10 foot puts, not 30-fpoters. 6) THINK your way around the course. You aren't going to hit every shot well, so make it your job to minimize your mistakes, not amplify them. 7) Don't take things so seriously. I see average players all the time who let anger and frustration overwhelm the joy of playing the game. It's a GAME, not a life-and-death struggle. So you screwed up, it's not the end of the world; you're still in the glorious outdoors on a beautiful course. Appreciate it!!
Absolutely spot on, it’s a game not life and death, the vast majority of us will struggle to break 90 and almost certainly not 80. That should not detract from enjoying the game, the course and its environment. Golf allows players of all ages to compete and play against each other due to the handicap process. As we get older and our physical abilities wane, we can be as good as anyone with our short game, and 100% keep walking.
@@TheAverageGolfer In 70+ years of playing, I should hope to have gleaned a bit of knowledge...even if I don't always apply it properly. Hit 'em straight...the game is a LOT more fun when played from the short grass.
Absolutely spot on sir. I have loads of clubs but rarely carry more than eight or nine and similarly I can play various shots; making an 8 iron a nine iron or wedge by choking down and varying the amount of swing A “feel” player essentially, much more fun and I also walk and carry my bag as a senior I like to keep it simple and generally I do ok
Would give this a double thumbs up for the intro alone. I was fitted into the 923 HL. I have an above average swing speed but excessive forward shaft lean at impact. The extra loft/launch of these models added height and distance to my shots and improved my stopping power on greens. I can now drop and stop balls on greens rather than dropping the ball short and running on. Not just beneficial for slower swing speeds. Great vids Andy, keep up the good work.
I use to play the game of golf pretty good, never a scratch golfer but not bad. Work, kids and overall life had my priorities focused everywhere but golf. Recently, I started playing again, 17 years later, needless to say, my game was nowhere near where it was. I turned to UA-cam. Your channel came up and it had directed me in the right direction. I bought a set of Taylormade Stealth HD irons on your recommendation. Very glad I did. Your videos are hands down my favorite. Thank you for what you do. I appreciate your opinion.
Got to love the camouflage Peter Millar top! I could make a crass comment about the camouflage and the sheep, but I won’t! 😂 Keep up the great work Andy, been awesome to see the courses you’ve played during the bad weather, that’s just golf in the UK, but unlike a lot of channels, the sun doesn’t always shine! Keep doing what you’re doing! Great work and well received! 👏👏👏👏

Will never ever understand how someone can dish out hate to someone who produces what you produce. Please keep your top top quality content going and F them. You're ons of the reasons I came back to golf after 11 years out. You and a few notable, entertaining others
I've watched a few reviews of the HL model and I think people are missing the point but you got it. Most of the comments I've read are complaining about the HL not hitting the ball as far as the other models. Slower swings need a higher launch to get more carry distance. The higher swing speeds are going to produce an even higher flight with too much spin. I find it ironic that the same people who understand this concept in drivers seem to stop applying the same logic when it comes to irons.
Loved the opening monologue, playing the 923 HL'S and love them...70 years old with driver about 90 mph, IMO these are a no brainer for senior golfers.....They do what they say, another great Mizuno product....
I like the reviews even when not in the market for a brand or iron - i find the channel entertaining and your content and presenting style make me come back to watch
Always enjoy your content Andy from the other side of the pond. Don't let the haters get you down. I've been following the channel for a while and have totally enjoyed 99.9% of your efforts. Thanks...!!!
Good video! So many average golfers believe the stronger the loft the longer they'll hit the ball, when in reality they need more loft to get their carry distance up. All about contact and ball speed.
Andy, I love watching your videos, both course and club reviews. Really appreciate your honesty, bought some PXG 0211's a few years ago based purely on your review, they served me well. Recently bought a gen6 4hybrid and it may just be the best club I have ever bought. Please ignore the haters and keep producing your quality videos, the majority of us really, really appreciate it.
Love the Rant Andy, some of your best work, refreshing, say it as it is. I couldn't play that course personally with all those "lawn mowers" every where, be shit scared of hitting one of them. Keep up the great work.
Well said Andy!! You are always very positive and honest. For us Average Golfers your videos and comments are the ones I listen to above all others. Keep doing what you're doing!!
Andy - thanks for the content. Many reviewers won't touch the HL, but glad you did. Not only do these help a slower swinger, but I think its worth mentioning that these can help someone who draws the ball too (draws tend to produce much less spin and height) than someone with a high fade type swing with an irons. I only carry my 7i 140 yds and like to play a draw so these HL irons like the 923/925 HLs and Smoke HL) etc have been a dream. I actually hit the weaker lofted irons further than stronger lofted irons because they have the proper spin to keep the ball in the air. Earlier this year I demo'd the Darkspeed 7i and actually spun it at 2700. The salesman at the golf shop, said did you like it? I said sure if I was hitting a driver,, 2700 rpms would be ideal lol For reference these HL irons I tend to spin a 7i over 5k.
Impact acoustics sound great. You're striking the ball really well. Comments just before 02:30 are very wise. Really admirable principles explained at 05:30. That's why I follow your channel.
Love the grumpy Andy bit. This is a useful review and you are 100% right, it is perfect for the majority who swing at the speed you demonstrate. Peak height descent angle and spin are key fo🎉r 😊getting the ball to stop on the the greens 😊
Forget the trolls, too many jerks hiding behind the keyboard. I love your reviews because it helps me see what’s out there from a golfer of similar handicap. I can’t go test everything out there, but great to learn. Not that I change often, but great to see. Also, love the sheep grazing in the fairway - too funny - but I’d be afraid I’d hit one. Keep it up and forget the complainers.
I’ve been watching your reviews and videos for quite a while and can tell you work hard at making them and put a lot of care and professionalism into them. I spent 40 plus years in the restaurant business and know a thing or two about whiners. But every once in a while even the most positive amongst us has to vent. Glad you got that off your chest! So I say well done and keep up the most excellent work.
Well done Andy I’ve been waiting for someone to review the HL, and what an excellent start to the video. Some people would moan about grass being green. Excellent video again mate.
This was great review in opinion. I think the summary at the end was exactly what it should be - who they would benefit and why, and including what you liked and didn’t like. Thanks!
I think your overviews of equipment & golf courses etc are spot on for the average person. As far as I’ve ever seen on your videos you’ve always expressed that these reviews are ‘your opinion’ and others should take that as it is. I share your frustration of the negative comments and it just seems to be the way of the world at the moment!!
Andy, I appreciate this channel very much. Is it perfect?, of course not. Because of you I played Stonehaven all the way from Texas. I made a few comments about you being a little more informative about the geography of your hidden gems and you sufficed. The Stonehaven vid you did was brilliant, as I played it I actually teared up for private reasons, and it was one of the best days of my life. I am extremely happy with all my golf gear and will not change anytime soon. But, I watch all your content, even club reviews to enjoy and learn. As a retired police officer of 38 years I’ve had a career full of haters….. But guess what, I slept well knowing I took out the trash! Carry on brother carry on! 🇺🇸
i am glad they are high launching with those sheep in the foreground!😀personally i think loft is the golfer's friend, hitting off a nice flat mat these high launching irons they do hit it high but I find in the real world of down hill and side sloping lies more actual loft on the iron face helps more. To me more loft improves my confidence over the ball and helps one hit a more positive shot keeping it on the fairway from those difficult lies and not pushing or pulling the ball into the deep stuff. Thanks for the great videos, for they inspire me to play more.
Thanks Andy for your hard work and honest opinions! I'm still using Mizuno JPX 900 forged still and they are great clubs. I avoid the $ by buying after a year or two after release.

Only thing that I do to myself is I think I find something that I think is going to improve my game or like, and then constantly so many new products come out and I don’t end up pulling the trigger because the next looks better etc. Keep doing what your doing 👍 Been playing a year now and absolutely love it and feel I’m playing enough, and improved enough to treat myself to a driver fitting. Can’t wait! Irons next season hopefully 🙏
Keep doing what you are doing - I got two of the Srixon wedges after your review a couple of weeks ago and they are game changers - well for me anyway so happy days 😊
I’m playing the big Bertha heaven wood and 9 wood and love them. Thanks for your review on them I probably wouldn’t have tried them if not for your review.
😅😂🤣 good one, And. They may not be for me, but I wouldn't know that without testing them, which is difficult where I live, or watching reviews. But they need to honest ones. So thanks. Keep doing YT you way.
Sounds like the HL does what it's designed to do. Actually, I quite like the looks. For a big "game improvement" iron, it's comparatively sleek and compact. And has a similar shape to the other JPX clubs.
I always enjoy your reviews and I think it’s important to take a positive out of any review, too expensive for a player of my ability, or, just what I need for instance. You are obviously a competent golfer but I often wonder how a numpty golfer like me would get on with some of the clubs you review alongside a very good golfer. This may give a broader view of club performance but also highlight the limitations of the user. Dunno, just a thought.
Excellent review! I am in my 70's so the swing speed has slowed. Will consider testing these as I look for a new set of irons (Sub70 699 irons currently).
Great work again Andy, .........Poor us, all these great clubs to pick from and with all the data at our finger tips we have no reason to not get fit. it looks to me that the Mizuno JPX series is in its own category ,kind of a hybrid of players distance /game improvement. thoughts? Amazing engineering from Mizuno and many other manufacturers make our choices endless and finally for once and for all, Club lofts are based on all performance factors not only the distance . Thanks again Andy ,all the best
Looking to replace a set of K15. Bought a set of G410 during the pandemic and had to settle for a standard set which didn’t work for me. These seem to be a good choice. Thanks for the review!!
Currently playing MX1000 (2010) having just got back into it after a near 10 year hiatus. Have to say, I'm finding the MX's really easy to hit, but still need all the help I can get. These interest me.
The bunching up of carry distance is probably down to the reduced swing speed. I have friends who hit their 4, 5, and 6 irons about 150 to 160 yards. The only difference is the heights of the shots they hit with each club. It's time for them to try hybrids or lofted woods.
Leaving 2 comments one about what I like to see in reviews and another more direct question I'd like your opinion on. What I like to see is what you did here swinging at 75mph for a club designed for that. It's no good seeing a Pro or strong youngster who plays T100's rip the HM's 7 iron 240 yards. (Reverse is kinda true but it is also fun seeing an Average player hit P7TW's). The opinion I would like is, I am a goodish ball striker, 7i: -4 angle of attach, 0.1 open slightly in to out. However I was diagnosed with MS in 2022 and my swing speed is 75mph with a 7i. I don't need the off set but do need as much help as possible with speed, which in turn affects peak height. Of the clubs you have tested recently what do you think is the fastest in a smaller package, From a visual perspective the smaller and less off set the better,, but I appreciate I need some plus real-estate to generate the face flex. I will obviously got to get fit but trying to gather as much knowledge about current gear as possible.
UA-cam golf was my go to place for help deciding what clubs to buy/compare. As you say Andy golf gear generally is just very good, a lot comes down to our own preference and budget. It has become more of an entertainment viewer experience now days. Which has lead to click bait titles - BRUTALLY HONEST, BIG PROBLEM. I’d quite like to see you add in a performance goal to your videos - can you break 80/85? So we can experience the golf round with you as well as the course.
I'm not a subscribing even though I've watched quite a few of your videos, but I'm subscribing after your opening statement. What's with all the hate on strong lofts in most comments sections, if you don't like strong lofts in GI irons then go use irons from 20 years ago you doofus, get with the times.
Ahhhh . . . . . okay Andy. That's one way of doing it. On the positive side, great looking course, i see blue skies intermixed with white fluffy clouds. Imagine the weather is a little coolish as you're wearing long sleeves. Hitting some great shots . . . what's not to like? As for me, I'm suffering from UA-cam new club overload at the moment and I'm in one of those rare moments for a golfer where I'm really liking all of my clubs with exception of maybe my SW, which has been good, but not great, so can't say i'm really looking with a keen eye at any of the new offerings AT THE MOMENT. Of course a few bad rounds, one after the next, could change that so i won't exempt myself from looking at the new stuff but I'll just say that my current golf focus is elsewhere and i'll be looking more at the course than the clubs.

Been playing a year now and absolutely love it and feel I’m playing enough, and improved enough to treat myself to a driver fitting. Can’t wait! Irons next season hopefully 🙏
I agree new clubs are not the answer to better golf but when purchased correctly can assist, hope the driver fit goes well 👍
Keep doing what you are doing - I got two of the Srixon wedges after your review a couple of weeks ago and they are game changers - well for me anyway so happy days 😊
Great to hear! I love to read this 👍
Honest call Andy great head's up, I'd say these HL iron's could be a problem in the head on wind, definitely should be given a thought B4 purchase
I’m playing the big Bertha heaven wood and 9 wood and love them. Thanks for your review on them I probably wouldn’t have tried them if not for your review.
Love to read 👍👏
I have hit the hm pros waiting for the forged head to get to our shop. Was hitting with mmt 105 stiff shafts, 2 up
😅😂🤣 good one, And.
LOVED YOUR OPENING, SO TRUE
Keep doing your thing, Andy! That's why I watch!
I appreciate that!
I really love your channel and all the content.
It’s a great concept but very difficult to organise
Great video as always, Holywell looking good. Keep going , lots of us really enjoy your reviews , and especially the course vlogs 👍👍
Thanks, will do!
Andy - thanks for standing up the haters. Your videos and relationship with the game are spot on.
Much appreciated
Good honest genuine review again Andy, keep up the top work 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Initially missed the video due to having to clean up the coffee I spilled while laughing at the start . Good one, Andy. All true BTW.
Excellent review! I am in my 70's so the swing speed has slowed. Will consider testing these as I look for a new set of irons (Sub70 699 irons currently).
Worth a try
Great work again Andy, .........Poor us, all these great clubs to pick from and with all the data at our finger tips we have no reason to not get fit.
it looks to me that the Mizuno JPX series is in its own category ,kind of a hybrid of players distance /game improvement. thoughts?
Amazing engineering from Mizuno and many other manufacturers make our choices endless and finally for once and for all, Club lofts are based on all performance factors not only the distance .
Thanks again Andy ,all the best
Yes I agree choosing product right now is difficult because as I said it’s all pretty decent, custom for is very important
Best and most refreshing intro of any vid I've seen in a long time.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video honest and explained proper, straight to the point can't beat that so thank you Andrew
Cheers Charlie
@@TheAverageGolfer I know you have changed to PXG if you could compare between the Mizuno and PXG honest review please Andrew
Love my HM Pro 921.. bring them in ‘tru’ loft and im happy
😂😂😂Love the opening. Some people just want to make everyone else miserable.
I would like new irons so I enjoy everyone’s reviews, otherwise I would be buying off the rack and have no idea what I was buying.

That intro 😂 Excellent review and love your explanation of how you approach reviews.
Thank you kindly!
Thanks for your time Andy
Thanks for yours Paul
Nice review andy thanks for all your work.
My dad used to say , dogs bark , people moan.
Just the best opening I've heard on a golf channel !!!!!!!!👹👹👺
Looking to replace a set of K15. Bought a set of G410 during the pandemic and had to settle for a standard set which didn’t work for me. These seem to be a good choice. Thanks for the review!!
Certainly worth trying Thomas
Those Mizuno irons seem to deliver what they have set out to do.. Keep the reviews coming.. 😊
Yes they do and thanks 🙏
Currently playing MX1000 (2010) having just got back into it after a near 10 year hiatus. Have to say, I'm finding the MX's really easy to hit, but still need all the help I can get. These interest me.
loved the opening comments. 😂
these irons remind me of the taylormade sim irons.
The bunching up of carry distance is probably down to the reduced swing speed. I have friends who hit their 4, 5, and 6 irons about 150 to 160 yards. The only difference is the heights of the shots they hit with each club. It's time for them to try hybrids or lofted woods.
I enjoy your videos so keep up the good work
Enjoy your honest reviews! There’s some who will even argue with themselves.
😂😂
ABSOLUTELY LOVE ❤your Nike Shoes !
Keep doing what your doing Andy don't pay attention to haters
Absolutely 👍
I'm not a subscribing even though I've watched quite a few of your videos, but I'm subscribing after your opening statement.
What's with all the hate on strong lofts in most comments sections, if you don't like strong lofts in GI irons then go use irons from 20 years ago you doofus, get with the times.
Andy just keep doing your reviews, they are interesting and honest.
I appreciate that!
Ahhhh . . . . .
Th and for taking time to comment and glad the game is in good order
Best intro EVER... 👋👋👋
