      Letting soil dry to the point there is no water in it and then overloading the plant with water is not respect.

    Wait.. you’re supposed to shower your plants???

    • @kisikisikisi
      @kisikisikisi Рік тому +27

      You can if you want to! The point is really to get dust and dirt off the leaves. Having dust on the leaves supposedly makes it harder for them to get the light they need and photosynthesize, although I don't know how scientifically accurate it is. I mainly do it because they look noticeably more fresh, green and vibrant after a shower. You can of course just wipe the leaves off with a rag, but I'm way too lazy and impatient for that, so I put them in the shower.

    • @haileys5224
      @haileys5224 Рік тому +8

      @@kisikisikisi it is scientifically accurate. The dust acts as a physical barrier so light can’t penetrate. You can even do an experiment yourself to observe this. Chooses a plant then proceed to dust half and leave the other half alone. Over time you will be able to see the difference in the plant.

    • @ohtheplacesyoullgrow
      @ohtheplacesyoullgrow  Рік тому +17

    I have a method so that my (around 35) plants do not die when I go home from university. I water them and then I use clear plastic bags to cover every single plant. I make it airtight between the plastic and the decorative pot. Like a little greenhouse for every plant. So the water that evaporates can condense and run back into the pot. With that method I can spend 5-6 weeks at home without needing anyone to water them. I'm even sure they could go longer. But be aware, it will look awful 🤣🤣

    • @ohtheplacesyoullgrow

    I stick plants that like water in the tub . My pots don’t have holes so I put a few inches of water in the tub . Houseplants that are outside I water well and bring in and kept away from windows. Plants that don’t like much water and are inside get taken out of the windows. Outdoor plants that stay outside get watered well .

    Hai I have a question about bottom watering. How long should I leave the plants in the water and how much water should I put in? Should the container be like a basin where the water level is high or more like a baking sheet/ pie tin where the water level is lower? Thank you

    • @ohtheplacesyoullgrow
      @ohtheplacesyoullgrow  Рік тому +1

      It depends on plant size but I leave in for about half hour and I know it’s “done” when the soil is nearly saturated to the top. You want the water level to be higher than the drainage holes so I use a deeper basin. A baking sheet would not nearly hold enough water, as the soil takes up quite a bit.
