I play this on my Switch while using 4K upscaling and dynamic contrast on my 4K TV and it looks great.
This is the first Resident Evil game in the franchise where Alyson Court does not provide the voice for Claire Redfield. She was replaced by "James Baker" (an alias for Ali Hillis). Court has stated she wasn't contacted by Capcom about reprising the character or even informed about her replacement, and that she would have loved to return to voice Claire stating the character had become a part of her over the many years.
Takes place between the events of Resident Evil 5 (2009) and Resident Evil 6 (2012).
Oddly, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 was never released for the Nintendo 3DS even though that was the original platform the first Revelations was developed for and released on. Revelations 2 is available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS Vita, and PC.
This is the second game in the series to use the Uroboros virus as a plot element (first being Resident Evil 5 (2009)). However, this is the first game to analyze the effects of a successful merging, as well as using it to make B.O.W.s.
As the English voice recording was not done with a SAG-AFTRA approved contract, most of the American voice actors were using pseudonyms or at least similar versions of their names in order to distance themselves from their union-approved work.
This sequel to Resident Evil: Revelations (2012) actually has little to do with that game in the narrative sense, apart from some references to the Terragrigia Panic introduced in the first game. However, they are connected by tone and structure. Both Revelations games take place between two main entries; they both follow an episodic structure with previews to previous episodes; both alternate between two storylines that occur at different time periods and feature different protagonists; the gameplay of both games is focused strongly on discovering objects hidden in dark places, and harken back to the series' survival-horror roots; and they both feature an arcade style "Raid Mode" unique to this sub-series.
This is the second game in the series in which the active part starts with Claire Redfield waking up in and being released from a prison, after Resident Evil: Code: Veronica (2000).
First game to show Albert Wesker's twin Alex Wesker.
There are two endings to Revelations 2: the good (canon) ending and the bad ending. In episode 3 during Claire's section, the choice made during the boss fight with Neil decides how the game ends: if Claire is the one to deliver the killing shot, then the bad ending will take place. If Moira is the one to deliver the shot, then she will overcome her aversion to guns and aid her father Barry in the finale, leading to the good ending.
I loved this game so much. The story was interesting and fun. The characters was also great and Claire is just fantastic as always. I also love the Raid mode that gives ton of replay value. God damn this is such an amazing game and so was the first Revelations.
im loving your channel keep up the good work
I'm having a lot of fun with this game right now, cool review!
This game is really underrated. It was the first RE that I wasn't hyped for. RE6 was such a disappointment and I expected the worse from Rev2. Glad I was wrong. Story is a bit convoluted and I thought Claire's portrayal was off but Barry was awesome. They did such a good job with him. Great game overall and raid mode has tons of content. Just wish the campaign was available for online play.
I agree I hadn’t bought a resident evil game in a long time so like two years ago I think it was I got it on sale I don’t regret it it’s awesome!Same I was so sad when I found out there’s no online co-op play
Resident Evil Revelations 2 = one of the best games of whole times. I give it 9, not 8.
It's in my top 5 next to RE2, Code Veronica, RE1 Remake, RE4...Rev 1 and Resi 7 round out my S tier list
This game is $1 on steam right now!
Bruh, Moira, not Moria... Good review though :)
Great review. You got my sub, dude! :P
Keep the Power! PMG
Surprisingly a really solid game. Playing through it again for what will be my third time.
All I want to know if you get the first chapter 1 is raid mode on there? Or you need all episodes to play raid mode and what character do you get from episode 1 on raid mode
Good review man :)
Just FYI the two bonus episodes are not exclusive to the physical disc copy. You also get them with the $25 digital season pass.
I really appreciate how this game has multiple endings. What's even better is that the outcomes aren't what you would expect from your usual Resident Evil game. I won't say much else to avoid spoiling things for other players.
Will they be added this week I have the digital copy?
that so cheap why would they do that?!! it a physical compilation ! lol oh crapcom
thehoeslaper The physical copy does come with the bonus episodes. The bonus episodes just aren't exclusive to it. The bonus for buying the $40 physical copy is all of the raid mode DLC it comes with. Characters, a map pack, and all of the currently released costumes.
awesome review bro!BTW what is the game that youre wating for the most,I would like to know
I LOVE THIS GAME!
I haven't played this game but the controls and gameplay look the same as RE6 to me and I didn't like RE6's much. I wanted to move and shoot but I kinda wanted to be more like Dead Space. Still, the game looks cool and I hope I get to play it someday.
Did you ever play it??
@@Kevin-zv6ds Just the first episode cause it's free. lol
A great review!
What did u mean by "bonus level", u mean aside from the dlc content ?
Great review
are all 4 episodes on Resident Evil revelations 2?
I'm convinced there's something wrong with my copy. It glitches out a lot. I mean a lot. The partner AI doesn't seem to work. Ever.
I agree, those giant hammer weilding mutants with spikes look like something from Hellraiser not RE,Ive never been a fan of that style that came in after RE5.
I thought this game was pretty good..... I just bought this game and beat the main story but haven't checked out the other options just yet....
Question does the season pass for this game give me all 33 addons?
Good review
I personally think it's a very strange one and not necessarily in the good way. Revelations was fresh and brought s tense claustrophobic feel with an old school style and engaging plot. This one just reminds me of Resident Evil 5 mixed with 4. Not my cup of tea I guess. Great review as always though.
+Ying Ying Chan Agreed there. It was an improvement over 5, but played way too much like 4 for an old resi game fan. First revelation was way more engaging and mysterious.... AA lot less boring map repeats as well.. In Rev 1 you backtracked for a purpose.. here it just feels like a lazy plot device filler.
I agree with this sentiment as well. REV 2 is one of the weirder but also worse title imo. Game felt empty and the whole game felt like some mental asylum gone wrong which was bad
@@bigl2328 the first revelations is one of my top favorites in the series. Revelations 2 just didn’t do it for me as much as others. The gameplay is great and it’s by no means a bad game, but the surroundings were too ugly and dull for me. It’s on the lower end of my rankings for the series. The ghost ship setting of the first one was so claustrophobic and really got me involved.
Resident Evil has such a polarised fan base. I hated Revelations 1, whereas I really liked aspects of Revelations 2. The penal colony had fantastic art direction - the grimy, dilapidated, dark, mist laden rooms and corridors where the stuff of nightmares - as where the enemies, even though they where re-used lots. When I played as Barry, it just broke the immersion + emotions I’d invested in Claire and Moira’s campaign. I eventually got bored and frustrated switching between stories + replaying the same area, I gave up. Shame because this had the potential to be on par with 4, but Capcom always make bad design choices somewhere down the line (at least IMO they do).
I like the game, but it makes me motion sick for some reason
It's a good game I liked it amazing co op for sure
LEYKIS 101!!!!!
Good review! But it's Moira! Not moeeria
You played it so bright that most of the mood was gone.
You spoil a bit of the ending.....
For some reason, I had a feeling he was going to give it an 8. I was even looking at the 8 before he said it. The thing that bugs me about most RE games is that I always thought the stories were boring and complicating, and most of the characters are boring. Even my favorite RE game (RE4) had story parts that confused and bored me. I played to the end of the first Revelations game, but never had too much fun along the way. And that last boss was so hard that I never returned.
A top resident evil game
The bonus episodes are not exclusive
the mines of Moria!
Dreamcastguy, would you agree that the shooting in this game feels as if your shots have no impact, I love the game, but the gameplay doesn't have a satisfying feel.
Absolutely. It's like firing a gun in outer space. Not enough recoil and monsters just kinda walk around like, "Oh hey, hows it going? Oh, im dead now. Alright." Still a damn fun game but the monsters need some work. Maybe we will get a big content patch when more raid maps come out!!
+isaiah concepcion and on top of that some of the enemies are too much of a pain in the ass to fight (I'm looking at you hammer guys)
Did they work on it? I ask because I'm thinking about getting this game, would appreciate to know this. :)
I recently downloaded the first episode.... fuck I wanna play this one now XD
Brett Hicks Did you enjoy the game?
My honest review coming from a standpoint of someone who loves the old scool Resi games....The good. Good controls and partner AI. Inventive use of flashlights. New game mechanics are always welcome and glad to see a useable AI partner return since RE0..... BARRY IS BACK IN ACTION BABY!The OK. Story is all right, not the best though. (Revelations 1 was way more interesting and felt closer to classics than this game which felt like a slight improvement over RE4 which I wasn't a fan of to be honest)The bad.......... DAUMN WAS THE ENEMY AND MAP DESIGHN BORING AND GREY ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE OR WHAT?.... Seriously. The mini Mansion bit was probably the only place with good classic atmosphere, everything else looked like some copy-paste shithole project, honestly they put way more effort into Revelations 1 in my opinion. This is still by far better than the suck fest that was RE 5 map and enemy design, but very disappointed in lack of variety, way too post apocalyptic.
An advise is to put some sort of song throught the review(relly low though)so it can fit the blank spaces, maybe the soundtrack of the own game, really good review!!!!
Mo Rya 🤣
Original RE's had much better controls...
fcukugimmeausername How so?
ThatLandonSmith Loved the tank controls. So much nicer to use IMO.
fcukugimmeausername lmao hell nah. Walking into walls was the scariest part.
i agree with akk tbh lol
I miss Resident Evil.
The Evil Within was the closest thing since.
RE5 made for some good co-op but it's changed a lot. Maybe I've outgrown RE.
If you ask me, The Last of Us is at the top of the Zombie Apocalyptic games.
Original Glass The evil within was such an awesome game highly underrated, but yeah the last of us had it all and then some.
9.1
lol you keep saying moria instead of moira. this isnt the lord of the rings lol!
Wanna know whats even more sad? I practiced saying it correctly and STILL fucked it up hahah
lol! oh well made for a good laugh. great review though. it helped make my decision to purchase the game. one concern i had was the dodge/evade mechanic. i just couldnt get the hang of it in the first revelations game. is it simpler this time around and do you have any tips for dodging?
sm0ntes It works slightly better now. With the stuns/takedowns I didnt need to use it often thankfully.
Sounds good! I should be getting it in the mail tomorrow. Thanks for the reply!
Natalia is pretty useless in this game lmao. I played as Natalia and was quickly bored.
this reminds me of the Last of Us
Is this game scary?
Tom Franzese depends on what your scared of
OUTLAST
I don't remember any Resident Evil game to be remotely scary, they were definitely creepy to say to least, especially REmake with Lisa Trevor backstory, the only scary thing I can think of is that you have to fight your way through with archaic tank controls, limited inventory management system and limited ink ribbons being used in already scarce save point locations, but I still love the games regardless
Tom Franzese I think the real question is it fun?
rs 5 was way better.. this game a 8 of 10? maybe a 7 more a 6..campaign not epic enough!
It was also a low budget spinoff game retailing at 25 bucks upon release...pretty solid writing, voice acting, presentation, and overall gameplay for being so cheap. Just wish it had the epic soundtrack of Rev 1....
NO MORE FORCED CO OP IN RE!!!!!! for the love of god stop with that crap
liquid ocelot itvwasntbforced in this game it was built around this game so the 2nd character wasn’t useless like in re 4
how long is the game? looks great and i'm guessing the story is nice too i'm gonna head out and buy it in a few hours based on the positives you mentioned.
It's about 10 hours total to beat the full campaign on normal difficulty and then a Raid Mode which you can put hundreds of hours into if you like leveling up stuff lol. If you get it on PS4 then when online Co-op comes out we should all do a big multiplayer night!
sounds like the perfect game. i'm stuck with all things PS3 for now but man we'd have epic level/farming sessions lol
***** blame the fans dude, the clearly expressed how much they love playing the same shit over and over just with a new coat of paint
***** i don't what the fuck you just little kid.. but chu special man, you reached out... then you touch my heart
my advice is just enjoy your games. mega man changed his name to mighty 9. nothing to lose hope over. don't worry about the companies worry about fans. most of them need help
