Looking to get back into MTB, after some 30 years away. Vitus are great specced for the money. Was thinking of the Nucleus VR, sub £500, but the non SRAM (I think) more basic Mythique, is available for a penny under 1 grand, which is superb! But then, I am 44 yrs old, so it might have to be an e-bike! In my day, it was 26's, so moving up to a 29er from there, might be weird! I'm 6ft 2in, so would probably be an XL frame and as you said towards the end of the video, the 29ers might seem too big on an XL?
I'm 6ft ish and on the XL Sommet and Mythique frame sizes. Be worth sitting on the bigger wheel size bike to get a feel if you're going up from a 26" bike
I bought a 2017 sommet 27.5 as my first mountain bike mainly because of the price and I absolutely love it. I'm from the US and I am currently studying in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The bike is so awesome that I flew it here to ride world class trails. The only really negative to the bike is that it isn't a trendy brand name that you see a ton of pros on. As far as the actual bike goes, no issues besides the lever for the Brand X dropper post is sort of flimsy and I just broke it the other day in a crash, but that is to be expected with such an inexpensive dropper post. The bike rides amazing even though I have one of the least expensive builds. If you are interested in seeing some riding clips of the bike, I have a POV vid of one of the trails here in South Africa on my channel.

Agree the market is massive and should be affordable cause Mtb it’s ridiculous expensive so it’s nice see another brands compete with massive-brands everyone deserves a good bike
I have a 2019 Sommet vr Had it since January and done everything from antur stiniog bpw to local calderdale trails The bike overall is absolutely unbelievable Great value rides like a premium brand and overall the quality is exceptional I've become to love this bike but I don't believe there is such a thing as a cheap bike .there is shit bikes yes but Vitus is what I call good value not cheap . But with good value there is always a trade off ........ The paint is shocking it chips very easily like a boiler egg so invis it asap The stock wtb rims are a tad soft so run an insert out back or don't go too low on the psi The lower pivot bearings are poor quality and I quickly replaced these along with the other bearings with some full max compliment kinetic bearings but Vitus have addresses this on there own bikes this year and now fit as std max compliment bearings to all 2020 sommet/escarpe bikes not sure about the mythique The cable routing is sketchy under the bb area but can be addressed if your compitent. The guide re brakes have been flawless Dropper from brand X just works perfectly The sram nx eagle rear mech having plastic bushes seized up as was swiftly replaced by a Shimano Slx 12 speed shifter and mech whilst still using the nx cassette. Now the bad point .....the rear chainstay pivot bolts are made of cheese .the sort of soft cheese that melts in your hand . I waited 4 weeks for wiggle to sort the warranty replacements which they eventually removed from a demo bike which were also rounded off before I even put an Allen key to them I have since sourced some stainless bolts and sleeves from eBay for a couple of pounds and now have proper bolts that won't round off. I would also like to say I've had similar issues on other bikes I maintain this is not exclusive to Vitus but worth keeping an eye on. Would I buy another =without a doubt I'll be thrashing it found llandegla tomorrow
Great! - And thanks for writing a long review! Ive not actually had an issue with any of the bearings on our frames as yet. Agree with the wtb thing, i alway run inserts front and rear for racing with, its just not worth the risk racing without inserts anymore. Cable routing... Ive changed the routing on my sommet, split the brale hose when it ran under the bb. I now run the cables between the linkage, its not advised but i find it works better, and its much safer!
@@wolfpack_adventures I have wtb rims on my vitus dominer. I ride in a bike park infested with rocks everywhere. They dent easily at the rear but after 2 years they are still alive.
We've not had any issues with the paint on any of our bikes - that's not even being biased - we just haven't - have you found the paint to chip away easier than other brands?
@@wolfpack_adventures Even worse than the boardman fs pro I was on before. Even one ride with a tube strapped to the down tube scuffed it up significantly.
I have a vitus dominer and I did already 2 seasons on it. About 35 days of DH days in bike park every year in super rocky places almost all the time. @@verogroenewoud9681 I think I heard somewhere beginning/mid of October? Can't fint that info now though.
I want vitus to sell hardtail frames like you know proper hardcore hardtail frames like nukeproof and orange. Proper steep heads
Their sentinel is pretty damn hardcore! That's the bike I run and it's pretty aggressive
@@wolfpack_adventures it has 66° head. Orange and nukeproof has 65 but I know which bike you're thinking about. I like it also 👍🏻
@@wolfpack_adventures it's called sentier and you'r a Brand embassedor 🤦😄
Ok but on the swedish wiggle webbsite they charge you about 4000 swedish crowns more than on the uk webbsite why?
If we could only find one in stock....
Honestly. The mythique went on sale on my size and I picked up. And now I'm waiting on the sommet vr.
@@AreYouCalm10 when did you buy it and was it off CRC? I've been checking constantly for the past while. Hope I haven't missed it.
@@jaymilne9978 I haven't received it yet, but my friend is paying me to take it from me when it comes in. When I got it it said there was only one in stock. I'm waiting till next week for the canyon spectral 5.0 though. I wanted the ibis ripmo af but my local bike shop won't get them in till later this year.
I’m new to MTB and am looking at the mythique. Do you guys think this is a good beginner bike?
@@harryingd2674 I got mine about two weeks ago and absolutely love it! It has everything you could possible want in a full suspension bike without breaking the bank.
Yes, how tall are you?
About 6ft
Norco is also a very very cool bike and prices are about same as this
Can't really buy a 'bad' bike now...really.
Agree the market is massive and should be affordable cause Mtb it’s ridiculous expensive so it’s nice see another brands compete with massive-brands everyone deserves a good bike
I have a 2019 Sommet vr
Had it since January and done everything from antur stiniog bpw to local calderdale trails
The bike overall is absolutely unbelievable
Great value rides like a premium brand and overall the quality is exceptional
I've become to love this bike but I don't believe there is such a thing as a cheap bike .there is shit bikes yes but Vitus is what I call good value not cheap .
But with good value there is always a trade off ........
The paint is shocking it chips very easily like a boiler egg so invis it asap
The stock wtb rims are a tad soft so run an insert out back or don't go too low on the psi
The lower pivot bearings are poor quality and I quickly replaced these along with the other bearings with some full max compliment kinetic bearings but Vitus have addresses this on there own bikes this year and now fit as std max compliment bearings to all 2020 sommet/escarpe bikes not sure about the mythique
The cable routing is sketchy under the bb area but can be addressed if your compitent.
The guide re brakes have been flawless
Dropper from brand X just works perfectly
The sram nx eagle rear mech having plastic bushes seized up as was swiftly replaced by a Shimano Slx 12 speed shifter and mech whilst still using the nx cassette.
Now the bad point .....the rear chainstay pivot bolts are made of cheese .the sort of soft cheese that melts in your hand .
I waited 4 weeks for wiggle to sort the warranty replacements which they eventually removed from a demo bike which were also rounded off before I even put an Allen key to them
I have since sourced some stainless bolts and sleeves from eBay for a couple of pounds and now have proper bolts that won't round off.
I would also like to say I've had similar issues on other bikes I maintain this is not exclusive to Vitus but worth keeping an eye on.
Would I buy another =without a doubt
I'll be thrashing it found llandegla tomorrow
Hi,
Do you still have the references of the steel bolt and sleeves you got on eBay? Just in case for other owner like me :)
thanks
Most of them are sold out.
I think they'll be back in stock fairly soon!
For good reason 😂
VITUS;Painted with chalk, HORRIFIC customer service from CRC.
I speak from personal experience.
I have the frame protected with clear protect but not everywhere of course. Honestly I don't have any issues with the paint. Not more or less than my previous DH bikes.
I have now also a sommet but I did only 270 kms on it so not a long time. The frame is protected and so far so good, nothing to complaint about.
A "none battery powered bike" aka a bike 🤷♂️🤣
