Hi, what size should i get if im buying the sommet? Im 5'10 and thinking of getting 29er just dont know what size suit me. M or L and in mythique pls.. cheers
I have a pretty much custom mythique now got a lyrik 160mm on the front and dpx2 on the rear the new nukeproof horizon v2 wheel set and gone to a gx crankset and moved to mt520 four piston brakes, overall the bike is amazing and i can confirm for people vitus are restocking this month and next month but they will sell out fast, get them when you can
@WOLFPACK ADVENTURES I've read a few reviews that say the 29er Mythique is not as good at descending as the 27.5 Mythique due to the higher BB on the 29er. When I've worked it out and the 29er is 10mm higher above the ground. However, compared to the wheel axles the 29er BB sits further below the wheel axles than the 27.5 - 28mm vs 18mm, again 10mm difference. Does this really make that much difference?
I'm really interested in the Vitus Escarpe which falls between the two bikes here. Normally you would see a bit of difference in the geometry between the two bikes but seat tube and head angles are pretty much exactly the same (0.5 difference) as well as reach. With this in mind would you just go with the Sommet or do you think that the Escarpe will be much better at climbing? Are you likely to get your hands on an Escarpe for a review any time soon?
Hi WP I'm looking at either a e-escarpe or the e-sommet and would like to know who the two different bikes are aimed at? I'm looking at UK trails with nothing to technical, just looking to get out on long woodland rides. Thanks
@@wolfpack_adventures hey pal. Great video. Can you tell me whether the hole that the 3mm bolt goes through the frame is threaded or is it just screwed into the derailleur hanger on the other side?
WOLFPACK ADVENTURES - I’ve been in communication with mongoose for a couple months as we were going to work out a collaboration (still might 🤷🏼♂️) but their bikes have been out of stock for 4+ months! We were talking about their DJ and DH bikes. But hoping to serve another brand that fits more my style.
Had my first proper day out with the Sommet on Friday at Glentress. Bike ia far too good for the skill level (read lack of) of the rider 🤣🤣 loving the channel guys. Keep up the great work!
Really hoping the mythique vrx comes back into stock soon. I think I’m going to give it another week or two and if not going to go for a nuke proof mega comp, nearly 1000 more but the waits are just brutal. Do you know if they’ll be in stock soon? Don’t want to buy it then a day later the mythique comes into stock 😂
Hi mate! Cheers for that, hopefully not long to wait then, was only gona go for the Nukeproof as it’s the only one in stock right now anywhere within my budget haha! Thanks again
Just ordered the Sommet VRX - can't wait! I probably should have gone with Escarpe or Mythique given my skill level, but 20% discount is hard to pass up when it's the only thing in stock! Thanks for making these videos, they've been really helpful.
@@DanRoddy yeah I know, it's really hard to get them 😭 If you go on the Vitus Facebook page that's where i found out when the bikes came back in stock, but I had to order really quick as it was gone in like three days!
Hi, i might start mountain biking, and i have ridden 27.5s always ( for example to school on road ( hardtails), and chill trails) , and i'm rn about 158cm, so would the 29er with probably s frame be too big for me, compared to my height, or should i get mythique, escarpe, or sommet 27.5 s-m size, cause i'm going to grow much still? And the bike for me should be some vitus bike, that would be like mythique, sommet, or escarpe, that can pedal well, and is able to ride hard decents
Thanks for the comparison. I wasn't sure which one to get, but since I won't be able to ride mountain trails here in the flattest country on Earth I'll get the Mythique. However, I'm still unsure if an L or XL is the right size for me. Like you, I'm 6'1/6'2. With my inseam of 34' I'm right between sizes according to the official sizing chart. People do recommend to let your ape-index be the deciding factor, but with my Vitruvian armspan of 6'1/6'2 that ain't much help 😂. I mostly singletracks designed for XC with tons of short climbs, descents and straight flowy corners. Do you think an XL is the right choice? I'm a bit worried about my crown jewels with the XL seatpost being 510mm plus a 150mm dropper. Did you have any issues with the seating geometry? Or did you make some adjustments? Edit: I tested some bikes with similar geometry and sizing. The XL was a bit too big for me and didn't fit my riding style. The L version fit like a glove.
New subscriber here, really enjoying the channel. You’ve inspired me to upgrade my ride from a 2007 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR to a Vitus Escarpe VRX 29er. Unbelievable spec for the price - helped even more by my 12% platinum discount from Wiggle. It’s due to arrive on 31st July and can’t wait! I was flipping and flopping on size but opted for the XL in the end so hope it fits (I’m 6ft 1 in, 34in inseam and have long arms). I reckon I’ll fit fine...plus, I tend to like larger bikes rather than smaller. Going straight to Lake District for 2 weeks on Saturday so hoping to get some miles in quickly.
Out of those two i'll Take the sommet but still i live near the Alps ( about 1h) but i have the escarpe and i probably will get a Bike with a 65/63.5° headangle , i can Change it , a 76° Seat Tube angle 170mm travel paird to 29" wheels and i don't need any more, but i'm a freerider at hart and have the Terrain to do what i Love .
Vitus 2021 currently out of stock 👍👌 this company needs to do a pre-order or waiting list so you can actually order and get a bike! I missed out on the 2020 also! My money will be going elsewhere if I don't get one this year
In the state of bike shortages currently would you say pickup a 2020 vitus bike if I could find it, or wait for 2021 release for possible better components/geometry etc? Not sure if 2021 lineup will be much of a re-haul
Will you ever have the chance to get your hands on the Escarpe VRS or VRX and do a review? There's hardly any info on that particular model. Do you think the Escarpe would be capable of doing a little of everything such as park, trail, and DH? I know you say the Sommet has no problem climbing but how firm does the lock out get on the rear? hence the more travel on the rear, you are bound to loose power. Thank in advance
@@wolfpack_adventures That would be awesome Alex, if you can review the Escarpe VRX. There are no pictures or videos of the Midnight Sand color scheme anywhere. This was an excellent video thank you. I bought my son a vitus hardtail last year and it's a very solid bike he can fly through the trails. I have a question you may be able to answer? I really like the geometry of Trek & Yeti's mtbs how does the vitus sommet or mythique compare in their geometry set up/ ride feel? I'm going to assume that it's very good if you're willing to compete on them, but I just wanted to know because I can't just jump on one and ride it here in the USA. Thank you Sir.
I absolutely love both bikes and will be buying either within months. One question though: the two-piece pivot on the Mythique looks really 'flimsy' compared to the one-piece (and substantially more solid-looking) pivot on the Sommet. If it wasn't for this I would definitely decide in favor of the Mythique, especially with UK trails in mind. I'm just worried the pivot on Mythique would not be able to withstand some more serious bashing.. Anyway, loving the channel and content, subbed!

Excuse the ignorance here. I used to ride back in the 90s when only hardcore DH guys had full sus. And even though the bikes only had 120-140mm travel they claimed like pigs. So as a school boy I just rode a hardtail. anyway is it really that much better to climb on a 160+ travel bike now. I've only had one experience of climbing on a full sus and it was on a old 120mm bike and the rear shock would go through the full range of travel with every crank and suck 99% of my effort. Asking as I want to get back into smashing DHs but also do full days out in the peaks on one bike and not sure if a hardtail would be best
30 years of development = full suspension all the way. Even the World Cup XC racers have full suspension. Sounds like you want a trail (about 150mm travel) or enduro (160+) bike. Better get some testing done
