I totally agree with the simplicity of your statement, however some iPhone users don’t like the look of the Apple Watch. There are a few features you give up when pairing an iPhone to a Galaxy Watch like notification responses and better application integration. Some may be able to overlook those shortcomings for a round display that has decent health functionality, simple notifications, and more customization options. I’ll definitely include the drawbacks in my GWA2 review.
The difference is Samsung is not the one who limits their watch on IOS... it is Apple. So I would give extra points for Samsung making their watch so it is available for both OSes.

I was involved in testing both these watches for Network/App compatibility and had each of them on my wrist for close to 8 weeks and despite having options to keep them both for FREE, I chose to return Apple Watch 5 (Ceramic version) for another GWA2 44mm. That should tell you which one of the two you have compared here in this video do I prefer. :) Reasons for selecting GWA2: Design, Customization, Adaptability (can be worn for every occasion) & Battery life (I get 2.2 - 3.5 days on full charge with AOD and all functionalities active. Reasons for returning AW5: Design (looks like Kidizoom that my kids own), limited Customization & HORRIBLE battery life.
I agree about customization and adaptation to the environment. Until Apple designs a circular display, they’ll be behind the Galaxy Watches in terms of design.

Also, after testing both extensively for all available Application (essentials) honestly, the argument that AW5 is more accurate than GW & GWA2 is simply fictitious. Both have the same degree of inaccuracy when it comes to measuring steps, heart rate etc. Where GWA2 wins is its almost accurate Sleep Tracking. Also Samsung health is more matured platform which in a way helps Galaxy Watches despite of its inaccuracy.
But in the video he gave the battery life a TIE?lol my 3 years old Gear S3 can even last 3.5 days 'til now. And navigation also tie? Rotating bezel and app organization(with labels) from samsung is way better than apple's (chaotic/childish/nameless app screen). But I wish samsung made a bigger active watch. Im not into thin watches, feels feminine for me. ✌
@@YellonCactus without the rotating bezel, its so small compared to gs3 and gw (trust me, I compared them side by side). And its smothness makes it look so clean (that's why i find it feminine unlike the rugged thick manly watch from the previous ones) .
The availability of Galaxy Watch Designer software that lets users to create any type of watch face just makes Galaxy watch series a great option to consider
I got First samsung galaxy buds, then i got galaxy active watch 2 with my s10. Im enjoying using bec of the compatability and also you can rule the watch with your own style. Good job samsung
Aside from the low storage on the Active 2, I love this watch. The price was right and no proprietary jazz with Samsung which will always win me over. I do like the square profile on the Apple Watch but I would not be willing to pay a premium for it, hence the reason I have an Android!
I’m wearing my galaxy watch active 2 rn and this watch is better cuz it works for iPhone and android and when it rains it locks then it tells u to lightly shake it to take the water out

Thanks! I enjoyed using the Apple Watch, but it’s a product that has seen very little innovation over the last 5 years with the exception of a higher screen to body ratio. The GWA2 just feels a bit more like what a Watch should be.
This is the ONLY comparison video (at least that I've personally found) that favorably compares the GWA2 with the Apple Watch S5 in a head-to-head comparison. I honestly expected the apple watch to win here, but was pleasantly surprised at your tally at the end. I am not an apple fan--however, I am VERY impressed with their watches as a whole. The series 4 and 5 almost made me want an iPhone. I currently have the Galaxy Watch and the Gear Sport (but I'm hoping to trade up to the Watch Active 2 soon). Your video sealed the deal for me. Plus, I agreed with you on every point...although you could have brought up the ECG capabilities that apple has right out of the box vs eventually getting that with an upgrade down the line with the Watch Active 2. All in all, well done and thank you for your insight!
Regarding the ECG, I think is better he didn't bring it up, since it depends on Government authorization to work. So, whilst in the USA Apple Watch 5 has the aforementioned functionality working right out of the box, the same isn't true for all countries, like mine for instance, where both the Apple Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch Active 2 despite having the hardware, aren't authorized to offer it to users, hence we can't use it in neither of them. So I believe not mentioning ECG capabilities makes the video more suitable for global audience instead of only for the US and maybe some few other countries. Best regards, pal! The fact that the GWA2 still works on iOS is dope even though they're limitations. But the AW5 doesn't work at all on Android. Samsung for the win for that reason alone.
Even though which watch you get of these two depends on your phone; I still like seeing a comparison. Liked you showing both on wrist with different watch faces at the end.
GWA2 watch face customization is on another level. I can snap a photo of anything or choose from my gallery and use it as my watch face, up to 20 different faces that are interchangeable like a sideshow every time you look at your wrist.
I agree that there are a lot of band options out there for the Apple Watch, but there are far more options at a (cheaper price too) for standard pin connection bands.
The worst thing in both is the battery , huawei and honor beat them , not ready to add a new headache of charging every night plus phones that get charged at least twice a day , somebody will say the apps and so on , hi all of them in phone with bigger screen , 1,5 inch is not a place to entertain

Try the App "Autosleep" on AW4 for Sleeptracking. It works very well and accurate. Much more Information then on Samsung Health Sleeptracking and it's compatible with Apple Health..

Samsung started with square design, then apple made one, then Samsung came with a curve design to fit the wrist. It looked amazing! like it's from the future except it was too big and had a home button which made it look like a curve phone only downside of the design otherwise beautiful screen. Now Samsung completely separated from Square design that apple copied and did a circle design..

The Galaxy Watch active 2 works on both Android and IOS so another plus for it! And you mentioned customization the galaxy watch has so much more than the apple watch! You can custom vibration and notifications sound and much more so the winner is still the same but with a huge margin...
I was looking into buying the Active2 as my new fitness "ipod" but with only 4 Go of memory... I don't know. What do you think? I want to listen to music while I workout without having to carry my phone. (My daily driver is a Samsung).
You could probably get away with 2 albums worth of songs on your watch. You also have the option to use Spotify which I haven’t used before. I hope Samsung adds at least 16gb to their next watches.
Good comparison. I think one major drawback to the Samsung is storage. I like to go to the gym with just my watch and feel like 4gb isn’t enough for my playlists.

Kind of not related to the video, but would you go for the galaxy watch with a physical bezel or the active 2? The active 2 will have ECG in the future, but the normal looks better and is more rugged, which I like.

When there are two use better, three or more use best. FYI. the background music is extremely annoying, be aware we came to hear and understand you not fight the noise (music). During a business presentation they do not play background music, church minster when speaking does not play background music. Reason, they want their audience hearing and understand what is being stated. Many folks have hearing and language difficulties thus attempting to hear and understand you they must fight the music. Turn off the background music.
The active watch 2 is so beautiful, I sold my galaxy watch 3 and got the active 2 as it does everything the watch 3 can do in a more beautiful slimmed down body imo. My brother has an apple watch which is decent itself but the watch series 2 looks far better and it has a better battery life and it can measure blood pressure etc. Insane watch

Complete miss on app integration. Samsung only works with Strava. Apple works with nearly everything. That's why on Android there's nothing quite as integrated as the Apple Watch and Health App.
4:05 The Apple Watch Series 5 is the over all best smart watch on the market if you have an iPhone. But, the Samsung Watch Active 2 has 2 day battery life with reverse charging on the back of your smartphone which the Apple Watch can’t do.

Tech Jungle oh wow - big statement! That’s definitely got me thinking. I watched another video that said you can’t reply to notifications or make calls or even use Biksby as it says it’s ‘not compatible’ is this the same for you?
@@Adam-jm4vy You can use Bixby in a limited capacity. It can adjust settings on the watch like saying "increase brightness to 7" or "turn on good night mode". As for responding to notifications from the watch, you're not going to be able to, which is kind of bummer for sure. Aesthetically, this watch looks better than the Apple Watch and I can live without sending messages from my watch as my phone is nearby most of the time anyways. If you're looking to break away from your phone then I suggest getting the Apple Watch with LTE as that's the best option for an iPhone user.
The pricing bit was not entirely correct as the series 5 has LTE. To get LTE on Active 2 you must get the stainless steel version (aluminium version only has BT) which costs, you guessed it, basically as much as the Apple watch. I'd say the Active 2 would still get a slight edge over the Apple watch because of the styling and wide variety of customization options available, despite having a miserable app selection in app store.

I agree with most things you said but the price in my opinion should be like a 2 for the apple watch and a 3.5 for the active 2.

The Galaxy Watch active 2 works on both Android and IOS so another plus for it! And you mentioned customization the galaxy watch has so much more than the apple watch! You can custom vibration and notifications sound and much more so the winner is still the same but with a huge margin...

I was looking into buying the Active2 as my new fitness "ipod" but with only 4 Go of memory... I don't know. What do you think? I want to listen to music while I workout without having to carry my phone. (My daily driver is a Samsung).
You could probably get away with 2 albums worth of songs on your watch. You also have the option to use Spotify which I haven’t used before. I hope Samsung adds at least 16gb to their next watches.

Good comparison. I think one major drawback to the Samsung is storage. I like to go to the gym with just my watch and feel like 4gb isn’t enough for my playlists.
I think it should be enough for most people. I don't have a very long playlist.

I see your point here. If we’re just basing it off of the LTE models and not the casing, then those two may be more comparable price wise. Definitely food for thought.

Kind of not related to the video, but would you go for the galaxy watch with a physical bezel or the active 2? The active 2 will have ECG in the future, but the normal looks better and is more rugged, which I like.
Then i’d get the og Galaxy Watch because there’s barely any difference.

Very good information. Oh, it is not which watch is the best to buy, it is which is better to buy. From grammar school remember the sequence of good, better, best, it is important. When there are two use better, three or more use best. FYI. the background music is extremely annoying, be aware we came to hear and understand you not fight the noise (music). During a business presentation they do not play background music, church minster when speaking does not play background music. Reason, they want their audience hearing and understand what is being stated. Many folks have hearing and language difficulties thus attempting to hear and understand you they must fight the music. Turn off the background music.

The active watch 2 is so beautiful, I sold my galaxy watch 3 and got the active 2 as it does everything the watch 3 can do in a more beautiful slimmed down body imo. My brother has an apple watch which is decent itself but the watch series 2 looks far better and it has a better battery life and it can measure blood pressure etc. Insane watch
Regardless of brand, I like the round face watch better. It will match with my watches collection.

What's with the way the screen kinda glitches on the active 2 when you rotate it?
I think that’s from the camera being set to record at 24fps. I think if I had recorded at 30fps it wouldn’t have picked up screen flicker.

If I'm doing any business I will wear the Samsung watch because it's more stylish if I was doing any actives like hiking, jogging, swimming I will wear the apple watch because it have a better result, I already have both I just waiting for the Samsung 11+
Complete miss on app integration. Samsung only works with Strava. Apple works with nearly everything. That's why on Android there's nothing quite as integrated as the Apple Watch and Health App.
4:05 The Apple Watch Series 5 is the over all best smart watch on the market if you have an iPhone. But, the Samsung Watch Active 2 has 2 day battery life with reverse charging on the back of your smartphone which the Apple Watch can’t do.

Thanks! I just returned the Apple Watch S5 and kept the GWA2, which I prefer based on watchfaces and band options alone. I know I’m giving up functionality with notification integration, but it does everything else well enough for me. Let me know which one you pick up!
Tech Jungle oh wow - big statement! That’s definitely got me thinking. I watched another video that said you can’t reply to notifications or make calls or even use Biksby as it says it’s ‘not compatible’ is this the same for you?
@@Adam-jm4vy You can use Bixby in a limited capacity. It can adjust settings on the watch like saying "increase brightness to 7" or "turn on good night mode". As for responding to notifications from the watch, you're not going to be able to, which is kind of bummer for sure. Aesthetically, this watch looks better than the Apple Watch and I can live without sending messages from my watch as my phone is nearby most of the time anyways. If you're looking to break away from your phone then I suggest getting the Apple Watch with LTE as that's the best option for an iPhone user.

The pricing bit was not entirely correct as the series 5 has LTE. To get LTE on Active 2 you must get the stainless steel version (aluminium version only has BT) which costs, you guessed it, basically as much as the Apple watch.
I'd say the Active 2 would still get a slight edge over the Apple watch because of the styling and wide variety of customization options available, despite having a miserable app selection in app store.
Excellent points. You can buy the non LTE Apple Watch S5 for $399 which is still around $100 more than the Active 2.
