    Alfie, as one those DAMN Americans, I wanted to say I love your videos. I find you hilarious, and bloody brilliant at times. (Maybe overstated) anyway, keep up the good work love the ways you are constantly educating, cracking jokes and generally seem to be having a good time. I don't even mind the ragging on my country as it seems to be in good fun (most of the time). As a military guy, I have been to your com try many times, but sadly never got to enjoy the out doors except for a time a local took me fishing, have to say I was a little taken back at how excited he got for catching a carp, but hey took them all and that was cool.
    Again keep up the good work! Keep smiling enjoy a nice malt beverage and relax.
    Thank you sir.

      He probably got interested in identifying plants when he was first strolling about in the woods. Did a little general research and got really into it. Probably read a couple dozen papers and books and boom now he has a lot of knowledge on the subject. That’s how it works. If you’re interested in something, google and your local library will be able to teach you almost everything you could ever possibly want to know. Also, your local university is an underrated resource, as you can easily apply for and enroll in introductory classes on the subject you’re interested in, and one class usually isn’t too expensive.

    Sharing your love of all things woods is a gift.
    Curious about the gloves you wear. I'm a glove guy too,.......mostly hide-based gloves (sorry about the neighbors cat). Yours appear to have a latex or rubber palms, allowing them to be washed.
    The problem with any type of hide gloves is that they absorb unfriendly juices.................like the time I pushed stinging nettles over and then later attempted to wipe debris out of the corner of my eye. I made noises hauntingly similar to the call of the female fox.
    I need those gloves !

    use more inward pressure when knapping, it looks like youre going almost straight up and down, you need to set up each flake real long at first to flatten ou the piece, then you carry the edge around to the back, and take the longest flakes you can out of the back center, then notch it with the downward method you were using, ta daa you have a heart

    • @samdelapp9042
      @samdelapp9042 8 років тому +3

      also when setting the amber, to keep the colour you want to drill all the way through to the bottom, and set it down on something flat and clamp it down or glue it. or build a deeper groove and saw through the bottom, setting the knapped head in the center, suspending it in amber like a muisquito.

    Alfie, love your videos. Your pacing is a bit fast but immensely more enjoyable than the videos from people that speak at 10 words per minute. There seems to be some haters commenting on this forum...I don't get it. Your outdoors tips n tricks are wonderful....I thought I knew just about everything in that regard...now I feel totally outclassed. I think we must have similar educational backgrounds: biology, chemistry, physics....pre-med/biology major mayhaps?...with some mycology emphasis thrown in along the way? Your humor, dialect, and cursing make for a spicy bit of infotainment. Anyway, not a bro-crush going on here, but props to you. Keep doing it!
