well the source code is out there and millions of people got it already just like myself which i update 2.8 with git instead of buildbot..so idon't think anyone can make it commercial now even if Autodesk or any big company tries to buy it :)
Well, they can't. As far as I remember Blender license stands, that if they want to go no open source, everyone that has ever made even a line of code in blender has to agree. And I think it is simply not possible. :)
It doesn't need to be completely open-source though, that philosophy is pointless and only prevents them from using proprietary tech that could make Blender substantially better.
@@VirtusH well now it has to be. They can't change it because of the reason I have pointed out earlier. Every part which is integrated with blender has to be on the open license. That is why we don't have integrated Vray, Corona etc. and we will not have.
I'm so excited for Blender 2.8! I'm finally getting the hang of 2.79 and 3D in general and I'm stoked to see what kind of new opportunities the new build will bring. But please in the future, find someone who knows how to present. I'm impressed the devs took on the task themselves, but with all the stuttering, "yeah...so...," and "ummm...," it was a really tough watch. This stuff is exciting. The presenter should be just as excited as we are.
Yep. But I can't say I like there anything except EEVEE, rendered thousands of frames for my animations already. UI just sucks: selection just works amazingly weird - selects everything behind first and the object you are clicking on directly - last. In general everything have been misplaced, and inconvenient to work with, gonna get some time to get used to. I don't know if I would even bother, probably just gonna go with workflow I have now - do everything in 2.79b - than tweak materials and render in 2.8. That EEVEE though is something I can't give enough thanks for. It is just incredible and most powerful tool for rendering animations.

@@TheAwesomePcGaming У маня UI 3dmax вызывает тики тормознутостью и многими глюками :) На самом всё дело в привычке. В Блендер графический интерфейс работает быстрее того же Макса - нет фризов бесконечных. В общем, работая несколько лет с 3dmax, немного с Maya, я понимаю, что Blender очень хорош. Это одна из программ, которую я уважаю наравне c Houdini, который кстати тоже имел репутацию софта для программистов :)
this is great work, I just REALLY hope they do not remove the shortcut workflow. pressing S or G or R, and then selecting the axis with a key, without ever having your mouse clicked, is SOOO damn comfortable!!

I also wouldnt mind using those keys!, My main concern was mainly that other tools like 3DS or Maya or even Unity for example, require you to click on a manipulator in order to move/scale/rotate, and to have your mouse clicked while you do it, and then release when you are done. Blender has this awesome functionality that allows you to perform the transformation without the need of the click, basically, until you tell blender that the transformation is done. It's sooooo much comfortable, and much less annoying, allowing to work with more precision, and faster too.
@@juezna they don't touch things that are working well already , the big concern is the new standard keymap for left select, that one is a bit tricky to make it work like other 3D apps..i hope they succeed in the end because it will open the door many people who were turned off by right select..etc
Please. Please just release the final version of 2.8 so I can finally make my decision to migrate! I'm a looong time Max user and have been dabbling in 2.79, but I don't want to put too much time into it if it's going to change a lot by final release. As a Max veteran I am impressed beyond words at the power and versatility of Blender. It is an amazing little piece of software. And I say little because it's a tiny 100-odd megs. Max is touching 10gigs of bloat as I write this. :)
@@manosliolios8742 Maybe not industry standard in large studios, but it will definitely see a surge in new indie studio startups/freelancers and I'm already seeing a lot of Maya/Max pros jump ship as their personal program of choice. Large and medium studios are entrenched in Max/Maya pipelines and are working on long-term projects that leaves them locked in to their tools. These studios are often entirely built around Max/Maya and a lot of custom in-house tools just for their pipeline that are based on Max/Maya. For tasks like modeling/unwrapping the restrictions are somewhat lifted, but those studios will have strict workflows in place that may not allow modeling artists to use custom programs outside their chosen 'hub' 3D program. I've been learning 2.8 hardcore for the last week and I am truly impressed. Blender is fantastic.
@@dandiojhymin2000 having used Blender now a lot more since I posted above I will say that it does have a great modeling workflow. The mod stack and spline tools are nowhere near Max's though and the unwrap tools are pretty weak in comparison to Max's. Blender's selection and translation tools I really like. Viewport visual quality while modeling is beautiful. Best of any DCC.

a more visual based modeling tools system is rather similar to that of Maya and 3ds Max, and although i personally knows how to work with it, i still hope Blender will still have a hotkeys system like always, to cater to the experienced users like myself. because i would much rather uses the hotkeys which i have spent years working with to the point that i can remember them instinctively, rather than clicking a bunch of buttons. it's actually one of the things i like most about Blender compared to other 3D programs.
I would like to have feature that allows sculpting volume like Fire or Smoke. Adding or removing volume chunks. Moving smoke similar to combing of hair particles.
Could is there a link anywhere which explains some of this in text form (or another video?). I can't bare listening to that audio (shit happens - it's not a complaint, I'd just rather check it out without boned audio).

sure but isn't best to prepare for the future, i know that he can stay for maybe another 10 years, he has been doing this for a long time and i think traveling ,meetings working hard..etc one day will take a toll on him and since he is the main guy behind Blender and it's organizations, it'll be difficult later for the small team to have someone with his talent and charisma to replace..of course i wish him the best :)
The horizontal menu (and work window) would still be a good thing though. Our brains are developed to look around more in "landscape mode", we look at things much easier and quicker that way. Sad that it probably won't came back ever as an option.
"way to make interactive content in Blender" so it basically is a game engine. Please don't make that this is likely going to kill Armory. This is already an amazing game engine, it just doesn't have enough contributors yet for becoming producton ready.
@@dommafia Not in this case I think, people will waste their time developing a new BGE while something perfectly fine and with abilities that standart Blender never had (exporting to consoles, play in browser) is going to be neglected for sake of not finishing the project and because "the default is good enough". (Armory will need more people to become better)

Armory doesn't have this problem (but it also doesn't really have smooth shadows yet))
Although it was sometimes anounced to be kind of a "lightweight game engine", interactive Mode is not meant as a "real" game engine, but merely meant as a tool for animators in which one can interactively shuffle around with blenders physics-capabilities. Purpose of this "interaction" is to be able to have a natural interaction, leading to natural looking - hm - lets say "distribution" of physicaly "affected" things. So you don't have to set up a predefined physics-simulation, of which you only need the end result, but can handle things interactive. Interactive mode fills a gap for what some animators sometimes used the built in game engine. If someone wants to do real Game dev in Blender, interactive mode is not for him. Armory will be No 1 candidate to do that job, interactive mode is no competition. It will profit from the new eevee-realtime-rendering engine, and maybe even use parts of interactive-Mode - why not.

@@z_tiger311 Dude you're the one freaked out by the word EEVEE. Lots of things have names that require the main product name - EEVEE is not a standalone product and neither is Cycles. Most people will default to searching Blender EEVEE anyway - cause that's what it's really called. Other renderers with more standalone names are often used as standalone products, so it makes sense. Keyshot, for instance.
Not all hardware is supported yet in the alpha. Wait for the beta, the bug report will then be open for everyone. If it still doesn't work in the beta, please report a bug then.
It's great to see the actual developers presenting - even if they're not the most polished at times, it sets Blender apart from the 'competition' :-)

Actually it would be better if they didn't stay open sorce and went for apache license instead, the thing is that is hard to change the license u_u

nah they wont touch that, they are just changing obscure shortcuts, and those that are not consistent with the rest of the workflow.
and you still have the option to use blender 2.79 shortcuts if you don't like the new ones.

They won't touch the hotkeys dude,visual based modeling is there for people who are just learning blender,or transitioning from other 3d applications.

That would be parallax occlusion mapping for smaller stuff (it's basically improved bump mapping) and tessellation for bigger stuff

Why do all videos of the conference suck? Most of us didn't have the opportunity to watch it live, you could've at least made the videos decent.

The grease pencil has no pressure control on my surface pro, anyone knows why
