  • Anyone can do this. We found so many sapphires almost exposed on the bedrock, and we did not have to dig or sieve for them.

      If you or anyone that sees this text could help me finding cheap and good enough machines to cut-polish stones?
      Some names of producers\manufacturers. Some brands and\or models. Some links to products in Amazone or another. Some names and description of the machine so I can do my own research.
      In Europe or with delivery to Europe please.
      Whatever that can help me find a cheap but reliable machine so I can do some experiments and if I have what it takes.
      Thanks :)

    I went to Nundle last Christmas looking for gold. We found a bit which was exciting for my first effort. I also found a beautiful red stone & some beautiful clear ones! But the person that was teaching me wasn't in to gem fossicking. So I just ended up bringing home a sack of the sieved (1/8 I believe) Watching this has spurred me on to get out in my backyard & start checking it! 😊

    @bradleypool4187 5 років тому

    Yes yes, would looove to see the big one cut whether or not it is a star sapphire! 👍 I didn't know you could get them that big?
    I had a fossick for sapphires at "Cranky Rock" in NSW (albeit I didn't know what I was doing lol 😁) and the caretaker at the park office had sapphires in a jar that were found in the creek/river just below the Cranky Rock rock formation which is huge. So they must be there. I think I was looking in the wrong spot, I should have concentrated on the bedrock areas. There was just a small trickle of water flow, pretty easy access. Open camping tent/ van area among eucalypt trees. Plus emu, peacocks and tame possums. You wouldn't think anything was there looking at the sign on the road turn off, but once there, not far, we were so glad we went. Beautiful spot! 👍

    • @LizKreate
      @LizKreate  5 років тому

      Hi Winnie, Thanks for watching and glad to know you enjoyed the video. My understanding of Padparadscha sapphire is a color mixture of pink and orange. The Orange Sapphire I found on the video will be more of a light orange when cut. Cheers, Liz

      @@LizKreate Well, I hope you find a pad soon. Very rare stuff. Im a jeweler and own three small, but very beautiful, pads. You probably know this already, but padparash is the Indian word for Lotus, which evidently has blooms of that orange pink color. I bought them and now I cant part with them. The dangers of working with gems, yes?

    Hi Liz, if I'm finding heaps of black sand and small (Match head sized) garnetts + sapphires in a creek I go camping near. I've only spent 3 hours there so far cleaning out a few gravel beds on bedrock but my question is if there are lots of smaller sapphires will there also be a few big ones? Or if they are all small is it worth my time looking elsewhere?

      Hi John, Base on the Graves Hill Fossicking mud map, drive about one kilometer to Mt. Clifford area on the left and take the first gate through the pine forrest where there's lots of abandoned mullock heaps. Just do some noodling on the surface and digging in the abandoned holes. After spending a couple of hours noodling, we found a a handful of sapphires from this area when we were there last with a couple possible cutters. Good luck and happy hunting. Sapphire.
    Love your excitement Liz
    Winners are grinners 😊😀
    How many grams actually makes a gem cart Liz..
    Dose it take 5 gram gold weight to make a gem cart. ..?
    Merry Christmas to you guys.
    Cheers Tony.👍🤓🍺⛏

      Hi Tony, Thanks for watching. To answer your question... There are five carats in one gram. So in gold terms way of thinking... that sapphire is 17.4 grams. :-) Merry Christmas to you too and Wishing you the very best for the NEW YEAR. Cheers, Liz

    I would love to see how you cut these gems, it looks like it wouldnt be easy ^^;;. Im also wondering how you'd cut that big sapphire, and if it would really make a proper star? Your excitement for finding gems is so infectious, I wish I could do this sort of stuff myself, love your videos

      Thanks for watching Lyneana. I won't know until I cut the big sapphire whether it'll show some asterism. I'll keep in mind to do a video on that. Cheers, Liz

    Hi Liz, I was looking for Gold at Nundle NSW, everyone was panning in the peel river? I think. I went off on my own using my metal detector it went off big time. I dug & found a huge blue stone I thought was glass. lol The Lapidary manger came running over, & everyone threw their pans down to see it. Where did you find that? Just their. It was a Sapphire. I forgot about the Gold under that cause the metal detector went off big time. lol Can;t wait to get back to the good life. xox

      @@LizKreate LOL Liz, when I found that Sapphire I forgot about the Gold that triggered my metal detector in the first place. It went off, I dug & found the Sapphire, which means their was Gold down their somewhere. I forgot. But the Sapphire was nice. x
