    The rains fall once again!
This week we are back fossicking the white cliffs opal field, making the most of the wet and muddy conditions.
Generally it’s hard to mine when the rains come so getting in a good fossick helps keep us occupied and making some income!
As a bonus sometimes we also pick up some really awesome bits!
The field hasn’t been this muddy in a while and while it’s good fun there isn’t a car wash in town!
We managed to find ourselves a lot of small chips of opal and a handful of cuttable material.
Some we set aside the solid stuff as the majority was doublet material. I did end up cutting all of that and it came up really nice!
Here hoping we can get back underground soon and find more opals!
We hope you all enjoyed the video please leave us a comment and tell us what you would like to see more or less of.

On a mullock heap the two dudes stood,
Noz and Jaymin thought that they should,
As they were feeling quite hopeful
    So they hunted for opal
And they found some opalised wood.
    Which was fortunate, that's certain
Because earlier young Noah was hurtin'
    Jay rushed into help
When he heard his bro' yelp
What danger had Noz been with a flirtin'?
None, as it so came to pass
Scrunched face like he'd stepped shoeless on glass
    That's not what happened
    Magnesium perhaps he be lackin'
As cramp set Noz down on his arse.

lol 😂 Anna, you are a very talented poet/prose! Haha I didn’t realise it was you, until I wanted to reply. I fair dinkum almost died laughing when I read the Noz on his arse! 😂 pure gold! 🏆
This is a comment I left this arvo.
I was dialling in my gold detector and learning how to use it, I watched a UA-cam video which said to bury a gold chain or ring etc in your back yard and practice locating it.
I was shit at using the detector and after 3 weeks of digging up the back yard and having the police turn up (twice) because my neighbours thought I was burying bodies in my back yard, I decided to hire an excavator or a professional gold detector prospector from Miners Den , but he wanted to charge me $200.
I thought well I may as well cut my losses and pay up as it was my Grandfather’s gold chain passed down to me, which when I had it cleaned I also got an evaluation of around 15K. Another neighbour called the cops again on me for digging up my yard supposedly burying bodies again, ffs! as I thought I’d give it one more go. The second cop that came around happened to be a gold detector hobbyist ! On the next Sunday on his day off, John the cop came over and bingo! He found my chain in like friggin 5 minutes! Mate I felt like a goose, John brought his detector, but showed me how to use my Gold Monster. John said next time wack a house brick over the gold chain, (like who would have thought!?….. Right! 😂)
What a champ John was, he even helped me fill in most of the holes that I had dug for another hour! It only cost me a slab! 🍻🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺 John didn’t ask for any payment whatsoever, but before John came on the Sunday, I nicked down to Dan Murphies and grabbed a slab.
I sort of lost confidence and enthusiasm in the whole gold detecting fiasco bullshit with the cops, the neighbours and the whole dead body thing and restraining orders crap and the drama, so I stopped watching Aussie Gold Hunters and started watching Outback Opal Hunters.
It looks heaps more easy than walking up and down bloody hills all day in the bloody hot sun!
I got me an 80 series for the gold detecting fully fitted out totally off grid capable and want to know Noz , where to head to for my first Opal prospecting expedition? I’m in Sydney but will go to Coober Pedy or up White Cliffs via Dubbo, (I know a nice Sheila in Dubbo no worries.)
Thought I’d check out some old shafts and surface pits and black light old mullet 🐟 heaps at night.
      Cheers 🍻
Ps, oh btw do they sell Opal detectors in town up there? I’m hoping to trade my gold detector for one.
      Maybe I should ask Graham?

Wood, I was looking into finding fossilied wood in around the Brisbane area after seeing one of my friends who found a peice. I was amazed how heavey it was. Planning a day out with the kids at the gold mines when I get a chance. Great work keep it going. The hard work pays off. I bet with the black tourch at night over the piles would find some nice examples.
