- Wal loves his gold. When it comes to gemstones, he just love smashing them. I(Liz) on the other hand, LOVEs my gemstones/rocks and would really like to preserve them and keep them intact. This video show what really goes on in most of our prospecting trips. I kept trying to lose him(Wal), so I can extract the gemstones better but he seems to be always on my tail.

Turning big rocks into small rocks is a man thing. I especially love watching someone else do the work.
The blue is outstanding. Another great video.
Thank you very much for watching Mate. Wish I could see it from your end. It's more green than blue in person. Cheers, Liz
Hello Greig😁
There used to be a man, (he passed away) who would drop crystals all over the place, especially near the entrance to the area, at the place I like to rock hound at here in San Diego. I now do the same, I believe it is like a way of paying it forward, like you and Wal do!
Everyone should be like us. Not the smashing bit...LOL
Great looking material Liz, if that is Wal’s discards i would be happy to find have them.😂😂.
If I hammered into a rock for that long I would be looking for an oxygen tent, 😂😜.
Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
Yup! That's why I like following him when we go detecting for gold as he leaves as much as he finds. Thanks for watching.
Lol..I do feel your angst Liz, I was sitting here on the edge of my chair saying "Noooo stop! Wal."
Great video Liz =)
I couldn't breath while watching this video. Brings back traumatic memories...LOL Thanks for watching Adela.
@@LizKreate LOl poor Liz, you're welcome
Hi
More beautiful stone Liz! You travel so far and work so hard for all of the gems and minerals that you find. I don’t think it is easy for you to walk away from such gorgeous gems! Australia has such a vast number of beautiful and precious resources to find! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Patti, I would love to stay longer and take it all in (visually) but sadly, we're always on the run. Only a day or two in each location. 😞
OMGOODNESS!! How fascinating and beautiful! I’ve never seen a program such as this. Love it! Thanks for showing us these amazing wonders!😃👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Omg! That is just beautiful..luv it. Nice one guys.👍
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Nice stones! thanks for the nice moments you give me every time you post a vid!!
Glad you like them Ana Maria. Thank you so much for watching.
Wal earned his dinner that day! 😁
What a beautiful find Liz. It’s such a vibrant colour. I love hearing how excited you get. Like a kid in a sweetie shop. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
NO HE DID NOT!!! He smashed it all up and has to cook his own dinner that night. NOT GOOD Zesty! I was crying for months for that big lovely piece. I now hide the smashing tools from him...LOL
@@LizKreate 😂
I know!I was yelling also, noooo, stop!🤣🤣. Beautiful colors, reminds me of the ocean in the lower parts of the USA, Florida, ect!! The water has those colors! Nice to see you back at it again! Love watching you go after the different rocks, stones and tell us what they are!❤❤👍🙏
The whole unbroken piece would have made a beautiful carvings. He's a BAD BOY! Thanks for watching Tammy.
@@LizKreate you think the older they get the better they listen! Lol. Nope! they just start loosen there hearing, and just shaking there heads like they still hear us! 😂😂😊😉❤❤👍
@@tammygeorge1638 It's a tactic they use called selective hearing. Whenever I say something that I don't get a response....I throw in an offer of food in between and I get a very eager quick response of "YES PLEASE."😉
@@LizKreate yup! 😊 😉 👍 ❤
God that was so hard to watch Wal chipping away at that beautiful big piece. So beautiful I want some 😂😂. Great video thanks
I'm still crying here. Those beautiful gems. Tsk, tsk, tsk....LOL
Beautiful material Liz. I wish I could have that big piece you guys left behind. Reminds me a little bit of the Ocean Picture Stone found in Canada with the greenish blue color, the whites and part of the matrix.
Wish I could go back and get a little bit more...LOL
Blue Chalcedony is Ocean Picture stone. This is Chrysoprase AKA Australian Jade. It's more green than blue. It's a more expensive gemstone than the Ocean Picture Stone. Thanks for watching.
Ok. So you folks need a trailer added to your train. Then you can bring back more! 😂 This trip reminds me of Dan Hurd and the Ocean Picture Stone he is mining. Very pretty stuff you both are finding, and so unusual.
Bless you folks. Take care and have fun.
We need a house on wheels...LOL Thanks for watching and stay safe.
It's so Beautiful ! I would not be able to walk away and leave any .
Love it!! Thanks for sharing Liz
Thanks for watching!
It was the same color as your glove, beautiful. Wal is like "gorilla smash" but he's pretty careful considering how much he's smashing.
He's got plenty of practice Debie...LOL Thanks for watching.
Awesome colors!
Thanks for watching Laura.
I hope I can do this before I die I love this material especially the Marlborough locality. Great video Liz glad to see you still uploading.
Thanks for watching Jon. Cheers
Nice to see your videos coming🇵🇦🙋🏻♀️
Thanks! 😃
This man is a PRO at this rock smashing!!! Ill take a master course from him anyday!
Hahaha insure me first, you guys are hilarious. Hope baby P is well.
Baby P is great. Just uploaded last night another video of his in his own channel Pedro the Budgie.
This looks very like the BC picture stone than Dan Hurd mines on his channel , brilliant video
Thanks for watching Jeff. Cheers
Omg they aqua blue cyan colour is so pretty 😍😍✨
Very striking in person. Thanks for watching.
Gorgeous I love sea blue crystals.
Gorgeous gem stone. Do you see a small hint of gemstone before you crack the rock or do you know what particular rock / mineral that they are in. Absolutely spectacular and amazing colour.
All of the above.
You are so lucky to be able to find these beautiful rocks. I would just die to have a place to go rock hunting near me.
We are lucky to be able to still do this in Australia. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful color.
Thank you for watching Denise. Cheers!
Nice stuff, cool video, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Also, HOLY MOLY, the color on that chrysoprase! O.O
I held my breath through that whole video LOL
It's so funny because I have been in my garage all winter smashing rocks, breaking up decomposed granite LOL and my parents hear me smashing that chisel all hours of the day 🤣🤣🤣 it's addicting 🤣🤣🤣
That blue Rock is absolutely gorgeous! I think that's one of my favorites
It's more green tone than blue. The only smashing I like doing is the Peridot matrix; when every smash or strike can reveal a Peridot gem.
@@LizKreate I actually had to Google what that looks like. Green is my favorite color, my eyes are green and that gemstone color is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to go fossicking with you guys. I'm so addicted to smashing these rocks and finding the mica and tourmaline I could not imagine how it would feel to actually find gemstones on the level that you guys do. I've actually been smashing so much lately that I have a brace on my hand LOL the warmer weather is coming so I'm trying to smash up as much as I can. And I actually separate everything. I separate the real fine sand, the larger particles of sand, the white granite, the red granite, the decomposed granite, the hard granite LOL I have a whole production going on in my garage 🤣
My stars, that is some gorgeous stone!
It's also called Australian Jade.
I learn so much from you, thanks you. I would like to learn more about adventuring.
Thanks for watching Sophia. Cheers, Liz
Beautiful rock!
Thanks Araceli.
Awesome yup I would do the same as him lol beautiful pieces slabbed right ocean view is what some would look like beautiful thank you
Glad you enjoyed the video Miles. Thanks for watching.
Love that piece picked up at 3:17 on the video.
Thanks for watching Jeanette. I kept that piece.
Wow that is stunning, wal is doing a great job,
Is this place in Australia? Where would one find the rough location? I love rocks
Love your channel 🤘
It's in Western Australia. May I suggest checking the Departments of Mines (link below) first, for prospecting rules and regulations. www.dmp.wa.gov.au/
This just made me giggle. My husband prefers to dig and smash as well, but he is learning the joys of wandering the river looking for beautiful stones.
Thanks for watching Katy. Wish Wal would do the same(learn the joys of seeing)....LOL
I always watch your videos with great interest. THANK!
In such situations, a mobile circular saw would come in handy.
No mechanical tools of any form is allowed. Thanks for watching.
Excellent Green 👍👍👍🤠 or blue😂
Hi Liz and Wal, What is this called? It looks like the Jade you see in Asian shops, what area is this in please?
This is called Chrysoprase AKA Australian Jade.
Hi Liz...Those stones are a beautiful color...what are they.....
It's written at the start of the video.
@@LizKreate thanks.....got it....
Wow beautiful blue 💙
Thanks for watching Laurence.
Such gorgeous colours. There's a guy in British Columbia Canada that calls this stuff with the rock inclusions B.C. ocean picture rock and he sells it for a fortune.
What he's got is Blue Chalcedony on Jasper matrix(colored by Copper). This is Chrysoprase(colored by nickel oxide) AKA Australian Jade. Thanks for watching Darlene.
@@LizKreate Okay. But it sure looks the same. Lol.
Do you have a store where this can be bought in the rough?
Gemworld Geebung
No I don't Brandi. Thanks for watching.
Cordless hammer drill, masonry bit, feather and wedges?
Unfortunately mechanical tools in fossicking areas here in Australia are not allowed even cordless ones. Mechanical tools and equipment's are only allowed in registered mining leases.
When "Fossicking" in remote areas, one is limited to the amount of weight/tools you can carry with you. Keep in mind that you have to also carry back what you find.
@@LizKreate Thank you so much for replying! I love watching you and The Boss. I know you guys know your stuff. There is also a little thing called a star drill that can be used to drill holes in stone, concrete and masonry. It is a chisel. No power tools. :) But plenty of elbow grease...ugh
Do you know much about slag glass??
Yes we're familiar with different slags Kim. Not much/all but some. Thanks for watching.
cool :)
That was awesome. Yr husband is cool
I think so too Lisa. Thanks for watching.
Is it a mozonight
It's called CHRYSOPRASE also known as Australian Jade.
How is that different from jadeite?
Jadeite is a Pyroxene mineral(different inosilicate minerals) whereas Chrysoprase is a form of Chalcedony colored by Nickel oxide.
I would love to buy some
Sorry Kate. Don't have anything to sell at the moment. Thanks for watching.
Next time bring a BRICK 🧱 SAW 🪚 with you next time LIZ..
Seems Wal has plenty of energy..
You definitely keep hip young.👍
Cheers Famo59 👍🍻🤓⛏
Thanks for watching Tony. He certainly has a lot of energy when it comes to smashing.
Very similarly to Ocean picture stone. You should watch the Dan hurd videos on this.
Completely different gemstones. Ocean picture stone is a blue form of Chalcedony and the presence of "copper" is what gives it it's blue color.
Chrysoprase is the green form of Chalcedony of which the presence of Nickle oxide is what gives it its green color. Another type of green Chalcedony is called Chrome Chalcedony. Much prettier than Chrysoprase but gets its color from the presence of Chromium.
@@LizKreate Thanks for the info! You can include this information about the science of it in the video or description for people who have questions about it.
Like any boy he likes destroying stuff! lol Just like you last video he gets so excited he ends up ruining as much as he finds. lol You too are so cute though!! Why does he keep smashing if he won't let you take any more home?? :)
Hi Tamara, Here in Australia, there's a limit of how much you can take legally(Prospecting rules and regulations). Wal loves the "HUNT" to see what's inside(quality). We tend to swap what we have if we find better ones. I would prefer to take one big piece compared to hundred of chips whereas Wal prefers the small chips to give away to the kids as souvenir of our trips.
@@LizKreate lol What a good guy!! Swapping sounds good too! Do they go by weight or pieces? Is a 10 pound rock the same as 1 chip of rock?
@@alittletlc9139 There's a 20kg limit of rock/mineral specimen.
@@LizKreate Which state is that in Liz? I'm here in Melbourne, Victoria. Are you aware of any localities around Melbourne that have easy access them/ Except Mooralla, as I went there on the 01/04 and all holes were backfilled about 3 weeks prior, and was only able to go for a day trip. Chrysoprase, Jasper, anything really, oh, except Peridot, since when we called, they stopped access to the the mine due to Corona, and have not lifted them yet, even though we can go 'anywhere', the council has decided to not yet open it, not to mention it is only available now on Friday's only. Thank you.
Can I buy a price of that, I love rocks but I’m disabled so I can’t get out find them. Where are yo located
We are not selling ATM Barb. We're in Australia and plenty of this material (Australian Chrysoprase) available online if you're interested in purchasing some. Cheers
Where is this
Western Australia. Thanks for watching.
I would be taking at least 100 pounds of that stuff as long as it is green and translucent. Even the stuff that is translucent but has inclusions I would take some of.
I have seen some pretty included green Chrysoprase chalcedony go for $200 for just a 6 carat cabochon
Is that ocean picture stone
This is Chrysoprase AKA Australian Jade. It's more green than blue. It's a more expensive gemstone than the Ocean Picture stone which is a blue Chalcedony. Thanks for watching.
@@LizKreate thanks they are very close in the video.
I shall call him Bam Bam :)
That's a good one.👍
My husband would do the same! And I'd be clenching my teeth badly!
Chrysoprase sells for between $10 and $20 per gram!
You know your stone Douglas. 🙂 That's the rough value. Cut top quality Chrysoprase can be worth over $100/carat.
I was holding my breath with each slam of the hammer. Thinking the rock was just going to crumble.
Exactly how I felt Denise. Thanks for watching.
Reminds me of Jade
It's also called Australian Jade. Thanks for watching.
You could learn much from watching Dan Hurd mining his Ocean Stone.
Drill a series of small holes to fit spreading wedges to control splitting away the rock mass and minimise the breaking up of the valuable gem seam, rather than the bash and smash approach of ill equiped amateurs.
Thanks for watching these amateur prospectors Helmuth. Dan Hurd has his own mining lease and he can use power tools on that mining lease. We unfortunately, are not on a registered mining lease and our laws prohibits the use of power tools in our fossicking. If we show our selves using power tools in these areas, we are up for prosecution. Big fines are involved. Please note that this is not a gemstone mining area and what you see has been extracted with explosives and bulldozers.
Just for your information, we are well aware of all the methods when it comes to extracting gems. Thanks for trying to educate us. Cheers, Liz
@@LizKreate ok , sorry to assume careless heavy handed cracking of the rocks was excessive. I have always approached my extraction in less destructive manner. In one instance we were digging citrine, amethyst, smoky quartz and other small gems 9n a private property. Conditions were to not destroy the area. An elderly couple walked by walking two dogs. No conversation entered into. We restored, filled our diggings in the shallow creek valley.
We came back two months later, to a horror lunar scape, that looked like bulldozers had gone over the valley for over 1/2km. Having talked to the owner on two previous visits, we went to see him. He was in quite a state, ready to fetch his shotgun.
Apparently not quite a month after our prior 3 days digging, two bus loads of people of a Victorian gem club rolled up. They spent 4 days tearing up every square meter, dug back nearly 50 meters back into the banks, and entire creek bed to base rock. Not a grass stalk left, all piles of sand, mud, rocks everywhere. Nothing but destruction no restoration. The owner of the property thereafter tried his best to keep closed off all access. Sadly many people with 'Miners Right' still gave him problems in other parts of the valley on his property.
I and others I know have no favour towards destructive fossicking.
If as you indicate the boulders there were effectively mined and left around for access, well maybe your extraction is expected and normal
sent it to me 😍
Nothing to send. He smashed it all up.

Sorry about my speed up laugh. Glad to know you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Liz
hahahahahhahaha
Hi I'm a local to this area and our community is not happy with these videos please try keeping area's private and have respect for our community. Thank U.🤫
Thanks for watching Les. This is in a mining area open to the public and is nowhere near any community. We have the utmost respect to areas that are private and would only go and show places that are open to the public. Cheers, Liz
A "SMASHING" video.
LOL....Thanks!
Just letting you know us locals not liking you showing the world where our crysophrase is located we think you two have enough please stop now leave our kids future alone please we understand if it was your own claim we would not be asking only asking leave the area private. we do not need everyone to start coming out here trespassing on our land property's and our private claim we had this trouble with other in the past . Thank you for taking the time to read this..
Showing the location my ass! I don’t see anything that would identify the exact location of this deposit! All I see is red dirt and rocks. No GPS Coordinates, no address, again nothing that would pinpoint the exact location to anyone who isn’t already familiar to the location. No one is stealing anything either! If it’s a area open to the public than anyone who is a resident of Australia has the right to come out and collect assuming they are following the guidelines. So please take your childish it’s mine attitude somewhere else and leave Walt and Liz alone to enjoy their hobby in peace!
@@jaykneegarner2479 hi the sorry but there is really cleaver poeple out there don't take much too see old videos that give enough information for someone to put two two together not having ago we have had poeple trespassing had someone hurt them selfs on one off our places who trespassed and sewed us for the injury's that almost ruined us as we are only asking to try keep locations as down as thay can there are some really messed up people out there that we have had lots off trouble with. us locals don't need the money draining trouble we had to deal with its hard enough for us who live in places like this. Sorry but do U live here have you dealt with people and crazys like we had you come out here spend time and see what we deal with. We just want peaceful lives out here
Then again we dont mind Liz and wal the family's follow them and love the videos thay are good people we do see that we just have had some bad trouble we had to deal with and people always saying the information thay get is from the Net and UA-cam.
Thanks for the comment Zigg Spain. We know exactly where you’re coming from when it comes to people doing the wrong thing on private properties or on registered mining claims. We have been doing this for a long time and have never prospected on any private claim without permission of the owners. We make a hundred percent sure that we have all relevant permits when prospecting in areas where a permit system or license is law.
This location is not on private property and permission needs to be obtained from the managers of this mining lease. This for your information, we had obtained. We purposely did not show anything on this video that could in any way giveaway its location.
Majority of our prospecting videos are in DESIGNATED Fossicking areas open to the public. Our purpose in showing these videos is to educate and show people in Australia and also worldwide the opportunities available to anyone interested in partaking in this hobby.
Information is hard to come by as there are a lot of people who are not willing to share their knowledge especially when it comes to gold and gemstones. We’ve put in a lot of time and effort in researching and obtaining this knowledge. We are not going to live forever and by showing these videos hopefully will make it easier for future generations to know what’s available if they so want to take up this hobby in the future.
Thank you for your concern and hope your problems with people doing the wrong thing are no reflection on what we personally do. Cheers, Wal & Liz
