Awesome. I can't wait to see these all painted. I've been collecting 5th edition Bretonnians for three years and plan to start building and painting in the very near future :) I just found and bought one of the super rare Questing Knights... One day in the next ten years I'll have all 25... They are like hens teeth!
I commented initially on FB when I saw it over there. But the in depth video is really appreciated. It's a fantastic mini and i can't wait to see the second one come on. Look forward to seeing the development of this giant and the accompanying army.
Really awesome work. Great to see I’m not the only one that loves giants and unit fillers. Never thought of combining the two but will do that now. Looking forward to see the 2nd lad build and both painted.
Absolutely amazing sculpt but I cant help but imagine him shuffling slowly behind that formation while taking extra care not to accidentaly step on any of his friends 😅
Thank you - a giant is a large investment, so it is nice to see this before purchasing. I have the old marauder chap, I was thinking of pairing him with the one from oldhammer and some smaller hill giants from conquest game. I'd rather have a few that look like they belong together. Would be nice if we could buy individual leg options etc.
@@JamieWarne-wq8em I do think giants make great eye candy as a unit filler, especially the older citadel and marauder models. I have spoken to Ainsty Castings about making individual parts of theBattleforge giants available to people who want to convert and kitbash so perhaps it will happen. Not everyone wants a giant that big though and I do still have some smaller giants I sculpted that never went into production.
@@PaulStanleyauthor above all, I am a collector. Started out in the mid 80s, and now my wife has gone I'm recapturing my youth. I have a massive goblin army that I adore, with all the troll from troll soup.... Now I need giants! How best to collect a mob that looks like they belong together?
@@JamieWarne-wq8em that’s a good question and one I struggle with too. I think the short answer is to paint them in similar colours and styles and keep the basing consistent throughout. If you haven’t done so already, check out @nergling on UA-cam and Facebook. The colour scheme he’s used may not be appropriate for anything other than Chaos Nurgle but he has managed to make many different giants look like they belong together as a group.
The Bretonnian giant is fantastic! In terms of a name, how about Henri? Like you said it’s got a Henry V style haircut and Repanse de Lyonesse was accompanied by Henri le Massif. Perhaps that Henri could be this one’s namesake as Repanse was crusading a couple of hundred years before The Old World is set?
Great sculpting, you have a real talent. Good painting too. However, I feel unit fillers should be minimal and in scale with the unit. Part of the attraction of table-top gaming is the visual appeal, and the giants take away from the sense of masses of foot troops.
@@Swindondruid2 thank you. I know big models aren’t everyone’s favourite and I’d love to be able to field them as individual units in a Bretonnian army.
that second bald head I think the eyes and brow seems weird. drill in bald head for a magnet then cover with flesh paint. hair be harder to do cause thickness but sure you can carve for bit of metal. I did a 12cm or so giant wayback in 2002 it was probably around size of Marauder. It had an empire soldier clasped in hand and a bag with another empire trooper sticking out, Im sure a great sack full of what ever race might can add to magnet on belt. Im currently working with plastic squares and round tubes to break down models and make finish better *take apart to cast) Gamewise giants are fun except vs missile weapons they become pin cushions, that can be a cool extra detail to stick into model flesh, or lodged in clothes, armour or belts.
@@jprp999 the model stands 235mm high but if the giant wasn’t slouching and stood upright he’d be about 280mm tall … which is a scale height of about 60ft.
