African American Blues music had a huge influence on the British and Irish music scene of the 1960's and many of the major acts from that time started out as Blues bands and is usually more obvious with a groups early music with the indigenous sound added in. From just a group like say John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers came Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce (Cream), Fleetwood Mac's founding member Peter Green who wrote Blues hits like 'Oh Well', Man of the World, Albatross and the original hit version of Black Magic Woman (later Covered by Santana). Also in the Bluebreakers were Mick Fleetwood and John McVie who Green named the band after. Pink Floyd are named after 2 Blues artists, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council whilst Ozzi Osbourne's Black Sabbath started as a Blues band called Earth whilst a band from Richmond London, called the Metropolitan Blues Quartet became the house band of Richmond's biggest club and in doing so pushed the Rolling Stones out. The Yardbirds which produced Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. Under Page the Yardbirds became the New Yardbirds and then Led Zeppelin and there are countless other acts influenced not just by the early rock n roll sound of Elvis, Chuck Berry but also the BB King, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Bo Diddley and Elmore James.
These young reactors are SOOOO Lucky!! To be able to hear all these Zeppelin songs for the very first time! I wish I could go back to my youth to hear them all again for the first time! Brother, you have a long, strange (and fantastic) trip ahead of you!
This was the song I heard through the wall from my older brother’s bedroom when I was 13. As soon as he went out I took it and wore that copy out. Last time I sawRobert Plant on tour he sang this. Can’t wait for your next Zeppelin reaction.
Robert Plant is the truth. A lot of people, rightfully so, label Freddie Mercury the best rock singer of all time but I gotta give my nod to Plant. He has crazy soul.
Apples to oranges. Queen was a pop rock band, Zeppelin was a blues rock band. Freddie was a preening peacock and Plant was the Golden God. Both could sing, but only one could wail.
@@geoffsimpkins7650 while I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment both were huge bands rock bands in the 70's and relevant for their time. Both got substantial radio play. My only point in bringing Freddie Mercury up is he's regarded as God tier in rock vocals by critics, fans, average listeners, etc.
Driving around in the early 70's in our Dodge Chargers, Mustangs, Chevelles, Road Runners, Super Bees and Camaros listening to rock and roll all night. We loved them all, Stones, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd,Boston, The Who, Doors, however when Led Zep came on the volume went up and never came down. It was common in our town to pass another car who was listening to the same song and seeing everyone shaking their heads and singing just like we were. Saw them in Providence RI in 73. Incredible ! Wore out many Led Zep 8 track tapes. Played them til the tape spit out the front of the tape deck. Dated girls who wouldn't tell their parents they went out with us because of the music. Hung out in parking lots and reservoirs til the sun came up. Didn't know at the time how much the music would stay with us forever. I am 65 now and still listen with the headphones. My wife thinks I have a problem. Yup I do and always will.
I’ll always visit you when I see Zep. Excited to hear your going to review one of their albums. Soul Train Bro is the only other reactor that I know of who does this. He’s been successful with it. A lot of Zep fans out here. Thank you peace ✌️
I don't care how many times I've listen to that song, Plants scream always gives me goosebumps. I'm glad you are checking out the Led Zeppelin I. You also need to check out live performances also.
First Led Zeppelin album was recorded during 10/68 in 36 hours at Olympic Studios, London, for less than $2,000. It was released 1/69 in the UK, 3/69 in USA.
That wasn't really 70's quality...that was James Patrick Page ll quality. He was able to produce and mix each album better than anyone else out there. Eddie Kramer and the others would pitch in on the albums. Jimmy was a virtuoso not only on guitar and songwriting, but inside the studio, even in his late teens and very early 20's
The studio version is THE one to listen to first. The live versions are great and all, but none of those have that dangerously awesome and orgasmic middle section like the album version. The vocal on it is also superior in that section of the song. Listen to the album first! Last track side 2! Then move onto the live versions 😊
This is Definitely my fav song by Led Zeppelin!!! And love your reactions. You know the pure raw emotions of these kind if songs so you can experience them in It's entirety.
Yes, many emotions - tenderness, melancholy, regret, anguish, yearning - dunno where Plant came from, out of the blue, with a voice and delivery like that - a blues shouter with pipes of silver - Oh hey - Wikipedia says his mum was a gypsy, an English Traveller - that surely has something to do with it
Blues, english folk, hard rock.....they got it all. I know you concentrate on the singing which is awesome, but Jimmy Page is so strong on this. John Paul Jones, one of the best bassists in rock and he can play guitar, organ...... Great reaction and appreciation.
My cool boyfriend was a senior and me a sophomore. Varsity basketball, baseball etc....he loved Led Zepplin. Im like nooooo but I ended up loving them and still jam while driving my car lol that was in 1986.
One of my favorites by them :) I don't know if you have already seen it but you should check out Led Zeppelin's tribute at the Kennedy Center Honors - it's only like 20 min long on UA-cam so you could probably get away with reacting to it on here - it's pretty well done :)
So when you have headphones on you can also hear the stereo panning (when things come out of one side of the headphones or move from one to the other). I’d highly recommend you listen to all your favorite music on headphones.
Good reaction. I particularly love Zeppelin’s emotional songs such as: Your Time is Gonna Come Thank You Tangerine Going to California The Rain Song Over the Hills and Far Away Ten Years Gone All my Love

Gotta listen to Whole Lot Love and Kasimir Ten Years Gone is another good one, hell there all good just take your pick , seen live 5 or 6 times from the early to mid 70s and I still have goosebumps even now in that I’m in my 60s they still cut through to my soul
@One eyed Curious Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix.Jeff Beck, Eric Clampton.Eddie Van Halen.David Gilmore.are just a few rock guitarist ahead of Carlos Santana .DUMB SHIT...
This song is really interesting because it's part of the "rambling man" motif in English folk tales. Robert wrote a few songs on this theme, most famous of which is "Ramble On": the image of the man who leaves not because he doesn't love his woman, but because it's just in his nature to keep going, to keep moving, to keep walking, to keep rambling. He can't keep still, he can't stay, the horizon keeps calling him. Another beautiful take on this is Bert Jansch's song "January Man", where the year is characterized as twelve rambling men, one for each month, who keep appearing and disappearing every year in an eternal cycle. It's folk rather than rock but I think you'll enjoy it: ua-cam.com/video/DDr8Q3dlIhY/v-deo.html Some beautiful acoustic guitar work in that one. :)
Great reaction! some other songs you might like by them The rain song Over the hills and far away Ten years gone The lemon song What is and what should never be Heartbreaker Kashmir Tangerine The battle of evermore The ocean

Another example of Robert's slow, sweet and vulnerable voice is their Classic "Rain Song". The live version in NYC is the best where he makes you feel it.
Am I dreaming! So awesome to see my favorite (yep, you took the title) reactor listening to the music I grew up on. I've NEVER made a request of anyone doing this gig, but I gotta do it: THE WHO - Love Reign O'er Me.
I always have thought a part of the reason younger generations don't understand music as well as they could is because they are listening on phones and computers, so only hear the "surface" of the music. Part of the art of music is the recording itself, the stereo spread, etc. Listening on crap equipment you miss a huge part of the full picture. It is like seeing a master painting on a small screen... You can't really experience the full impact of it until you stand in front of it and see it in all three dimensions - as in music, can't hear it until you have the respect to listen on good equipment. The recording itself is something a band used to spend much time on getting right so the listening experience is a complete experience in itself. Luckily, because of this trend of listening likeThatSinger and others are doing, maybe that aspect will become important again. Excellent job man, thanks so much for doing it right!!
In my opinion, this is Robert's best vocal of any song he ever did. That being said though, we don't see the reactors getting into the music itself...the guitar, drums...they almost always notice Robert only which is disappointing because they truly were 4 equal members in that group and each one of them are as fantastic as the other....but reactors don't really seem to hear them very much. When I heard this particular song for the first time many years ago, it was the acoustic guitar that literally dropped me to my knees in front of my stereo speakers. It wasn't just the notes that were being played, it was the way that Jimmy played then with extreme sensitivity. Focus on the guitar only for the first minute or so....its so freaking emotional as of it were crying. The vocals were just the icing on cake. This reaction vid was terrific! I love watching a new, passionate Zep fan going down the rabbit hole. Your reactions make us appreciate the music all the more...thank you! 👍😊
This is the greatest rock band to have ever played, bar none. I’m an old timer that remembers buying the first Zep album they made. I have always love this band. Next on my list of favorite rock bands is Pink Floyd.
I know you love blues you HAVE to check out “I Cant Quit You Baby” by Led Zeppelin for being a bonafide ROCK band they do the Blues classic JUSTICE 👀👀👀🤟🏻

I went to see page and plant at Madison Square garden in '95 when they got back together for a tour and then next year I saw Plant with the Black Crows and they did all Zep songs...the best! The BEST!
I get it you guys lol babe not baby. Noted

The only thing is, other reactors have said UA-cam has been blocking it. Led Zeppelin stuff is always policed hardcore by YT.
Forget the Stones, Led Zeppelin was the greatest Rock n Roll Band
Storm Hawk I agree
This is not even debatable.
Storm Hawk I never liked the Stones. And they couldn't touch Led Zeppelin.
By a country mile. Versatility.
I’m a big Stones fan but I have to agree. Hands down the best band ever.

The best thing about Led Zeppelin and what they did for me was, is that they showed up in my lifetime.
Plant was and Bonham were only 19 when they recorded this song.
It amazes me how young they were.
Andrew Southard Page and Jones were 25ish.
No they weren't. They were 21! Page was 25
Page is 75 now and plant is 71... so no. Plant and Bonham were 21 page was 25 and Jonesey was 23!
