Hey Bro, that is from 1970! I've been with Johnny and Edgar since then. Welcome to the real deal! Ain't no such thing as color in Love and Music! Peace....
Nothing better than food Ole Rock n Roll that is why I can't believe anyone would listen to rap all they do is sample our classic rock I was listening to this when I was 11years old and the reason I'm a musician....Good Ole Rock n Roll good for the soul..You want to get blowed away go listen to Zeppelin to the blues they tear it apart...Long live Rock I need it every nite....
Lol......”come on white people!” That had me rolling! God didn’t give the Winter brothers melanin, He agave them talent lol I’ve been a session player for over 4 decades. There is no color in music! It’s a shame there is everywhere else. I’m just blessed to have been in the ‘no color’ zone my entire life. Much love brother. And you sound like you have some good pipes too!
No one ever believes me when I tell them Edgar Winter was one of the best Sax players alive. Johnny everyone knew about, but I have been a concert goer since the Seventies. These guys are incredible together.
My father played bass with Johnny and Edgar in their high school days. I grew up with their music. They are good ole Texas Boys from Beaumont. My home town. Mom made daddy quit playing in the early 60's then married in 1965. These 2 men were truly gifted . Johnny died a few years back (2014), but Edgar is still going !!!!
I crossed paths with Johnny a few times between '90 - '97, it's always great (but rare) when your hero's are good people too. Johnny Winter was one of the nicest, most gracious and humble people I've met. RIP
So under-rated true musical genius. Johnny should be considered one of the top three greatest guitarist of all time. Edgar all round musical genius (listen to Frankenstein enough said).
Yea, we were so fucking spoiled back then! There was so much talent and diversity in music during the 60's & 70's and we didn't even know how fortunate we were, because we didn't know anything other than what was raining down from the heavens upon us every day! This is some good shit, right here. Keep Smiling...
Part of the70's. Other than some really good music that came out in the 60's and 70's... the 'happiness' was 'spotty' for sure. The great parts of it were truly great, in fact, glorious, but the bad parts truly sucked really hard.
I've watched and studied your reaction of this performance many times. I notice more nuances each time. Edgar's finishing lines touched your soul. It was spiritual and moved you. Tells alot about you. I can't help but watch this reaction every morning. Gets me every time. The surprised look at first... the joy expressed on your face...leads you to conclude you've been missing something and question why. And then that scat and growl sequence overtakes you , you exhort him and then his soulful conclusion touches you. Great reaction. I love it. Thanks so much
Hearing Johnny and Edgar together was amazing, and took me back about 50 years to the first time I heard them. Your appreciation and reaction to them just made it that much more special. Thank you, sir. They are not as well known as they should be because a complete lack on imagination on the part of record company executives.
RECORD COMPANY HAD THE 2 GREATEST TALENTS EVER, BUT THERE POOR HANDLING OF THEIR LEGACIES AND ALBUMS, MADE THEM LESSER THEN THEY SHOULD BE NOW IN 2020. THE TALENT OF THE BROTHERS COULD OF BEEN HANDLED BETTER. 25% WAS DONE OK. MANAGEMENT DID NOT CARE TOTALLY ABOUT THE MUSIC AND PROMOTION OF THE AMAZING WINTER BROTHERS. THE TOGETHER ALBUM COVER MADE NO SENSE. JOHNNY WINTER SHOULD BE TOP 10 IN EVERY GUITAR PLAYER POLL. NOT IN THE HALL OF FAME IS A JOKE.
Johnny Winter is a criminally underrated guitar player, Why don't I ever hear him mentioned in the same breath with Clapton or Jimmy Page? He's in that same vein from all Ive heard from him.
Edgar sole the show in this particular performance, no doubt. But Johnny Winter?…He is right up there with Stevie Ray Vaughan and all those guys. He was a BEAST of a guitar player!! My he Rest In Peace 🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE REACTION!!! I MET JOHNNY IN THE 1970S IN THE BASEMENT OF THE ARMADILLO WORLD HEADQUARTERS IN AUSTIN TEXAS. HE WALKED IN GRABBED MY CHEAP HARMONY GUITAR TURNED THE TUNERS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND STARTED PLAYIN THE BEST BLUES I HAD EVER HEARD FROM A WHITE BOY. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LISTEN TO HIS FIRST ALBUM "PROGRESSIVE BLUES EXPERIMENT" AND ONE OF THE LAST ALBUMS "ILLUSTRATED MAN" AND YOU WILL AGREE WITH HENDRIX WHEN ONCE ASK WHOS THE GREATEST. IT IS VERY NICE TO SEE THAT SOME YOUNG FOLKS ARE FINDING OUR OLD FOLKS MUSIC AND APPRECIATING IT!!!

This is 100% the most pure and my favorite reaction on UA-cam. I am so happy to see a young person appreciating the talents of Edgar and Johnny Winter. I grew up with their music and saw them perform individually many times over. They each have a style that is unmatched by performers of today. Johnny is considered to be one of the premier blues musicians and you definitely need to her his singing as well. If you want to hear Johnny tear it up, try tracks from his album 2nd Winter. "I love everybody" is one of my faves. His slide guitar riffs are off the chart. You have an instant fan and I thank you for reacting to the great Winter Brothers. I'm hoping to see you do more from them.
Edgar is playing the organ, sax and singing Johnny is playing the guitar. Both are. Albino. My brothers band opened for Jonny many times. I knew the both very well and also their parents. Johnny is dead now. R I P my friend. Make them all happy in Heaven.
I saw Johnny it was either 74 or 75 in Memphis at the Auditorium North Hall . I was so buzzed on Columbian weed I can only remember the one song Snortin Whiskey Drinkin Cocaine it took four hours after the concert was over for my hearing to come back.
The last time I saw Edgar in 04 when he was 58 and he could still holler just the same, saw Johnny one last time in 07, he had to be helped onto the stage, I thought this isn't looking to good but he played the same as he ever did. Glad I was born at a time when this music and other original genres were being created because no body seems to be creating anything very original these days. There might be a lot of great technicians out there today but originality and innovation forget it.
The Winters Brothers been taking us all to school for years. Can't count how many times I have seen them live. Blew us all away every time. Glad you recognized.
Edgar's voice isn't what it use to be now days but I saw him in 1972 and he played before humble pie and his last song was Tobacco Road. When humble pie came on stage you could tell Steve was pissed and boy did humble pie put on a show. I saw lots of concerts but by far that was the best.
Two Albino brothers from Texas. So freaking talented it's unbelievable. They Love them Texas Blues, and so do I. Johnny Winter and Jimi Hendrix were the two greatest guitar players in history hands down. And that ain't just coming from me, it comes from the other great guitar players in history like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, etc. Edgar was great in his own right. What a musical family.
edgar and johhny were in so many groups and are one of the worlds greatest virtuosos saw their first concert in 69 i was seventeen and saw them a dozen times nothing compares we had it all thank you lord
I can always say that I was lucky enough to be a teen when Rock n Roll really took off. I'm 67 now. It was insane and awesome beyond words. I went to concerts every single weekend - San Francisco, oh yea. My daughter says she wishes she could have been my best friend and could've seen everyone I saw. DUDE!!! If Blacks brought back the Blues, imagine......
Johnny was one of the great bluesmen in the last 50 years and Edgar seems like he can play any instrument on the world, and does it within the same song, LIVE
Johnny and Edgar were about 17 years old and went into an all black club to ask if they could play with BB King, BB laughed and said sure thinking it was some kind of a joke. they played and became very good friends. Johnny passed a few years ago. both toured separately and had Rick Derringer play guitar. Ill never forget Edgar playing Frankenstein Live in concert.
I love my music but nothing I've seen in years gives me chills like these old school cats. The Winter brothers had mad talent. Hell Edgar didn't even get around to playing drums on this one. I have such a difficult time respecting what passes for music today after growing up with this stuff. I give props to anyone who can play or sing but come on!!! 😁

This is the music I grew up with brother... Funny seeing all the reactions on YT from the younger generation... People ask me why I'm stuck in the 70's... Because it was the best decade of music besides the 60's... I'm fortunate to have grown up in the 60's and 70's...
I’d love to see this as an America’s got talent act and watch Simon Cowell get blown right outta his seat!!! FYI, Edgar’s the guy who put a strap on the keyboard so he could come out front of stage.

Back in the 70s they rocked the charts with the song Frankenstein.. Johnny went solo mostly into the 80s and 90s... Johnny held his own !man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's so nice to see young people discover the Winter brothers Johnny & Edgar. I saw Johnny Winter for my very first concert on August 15th, 1969 at the famous Kinetic Playground in Chicago. Paul Butterfield & Johnny Winter & The Flock were on the bill for 8/15 & 8/16. Johnny Winter & Paul Butterfield both played at Woodstock that same weekend. That was the first of many concerts for me and my friends! I'm still going to concerts 51 years later.
The word is, once a reporter asked Jimi Hendrix what it’s like to be the worlds best guitarist, and he said “I don’t know, you’ll have to ask Johnnie Winter”.
I heard that started back when Einstein was asked what was it like to be the smartest man in the world and he said, "I don't know, you'll have to ask Tesla."
@Anita Paulus, I have the issue of Cream Magazine from January 1970 that interview with Hendrix came out in. You have the right quote but the wrong guitarist. When Jimi was asked that question he said "I don't know, you'll have to ask Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, not Johnny Winter. The reason why Jimi said that to the reporter, he says candidly in the interview, was because they were discussing the 69' Woodstock Festival which had just happened 4 or 5 months earlier, and Hendrix said quote, and I'm taking this straight from the magazine right now, "I thought I played a good set at Woodstock considering it was my first time playing live with most of the musicians I played with there(save drummer Mitch Mitchell). Hendrix went on to say, "I thought Carlos Santana's guitar sounded great and I thought Johnny Winter's guitar was really strong too. But of the 3+ days of music that was played there, NOBODY outplayed Alvin Lee, and I mean nobody." "Alvin put on a guitar clinic for the ages during Ten Years After's set." "I really admire Alvin's guitar playing and how easily anything he wants to play comes to him, be it rock, blues, jazz, or whatever." "Guitarist don't come any better than Alvin, and I'm lucky to be able to call him a friend." End Quote, straight out of Cream Magazine January, 1970.
Johnny and Edgar Winter came from Port Arthur, Texas. ( They along with Janis Joplin sang in Black Churches before integration. Us black folk from the “Golden Triangle” have known about these white people for years. The Golden Triangle - Port Arthur, Beaumont, and Orange, Texas. They have sang with Muddy Waters, B. B. King, and Jimi Hendrix back in the day. The Johnny & Edgar Winter Group
Texas has had an amazingly rich musical culture with its own "sound" as well as a diversity of sounds. I love to listen to T-Bone Walker, Buddy Holly, Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Freddy Fender...all Texas born.
Want to hear something weird. I'm from North East Texas within twenty miles of where I lived. Don Henley, Scott Joplin Roscoe Beck, and TBone Walker stayed.
This is the door the Beatles opened up. I'm 63 now and, well, you see how fricken wonderful our world of music WAS. There is SO much I could say, but hell, you just experienced a bit of it. Thanks for your honest and great reaction! Keep it up!
The Mid '60s to mid 70's was almost a magical time in music history that we haven't seen sInce. No F**KING Autotune, No F**KING Drum samples or drum machines. Just real talent. It wasn't just great studio albums. Most of these bands were even better live. I've never been disappointed by either Edgar's bands or Johnny's bands, but I always like it better when they were playing together.
and no matter which brother you paid to see the other brother always showed up to join in ! people keep asking me ......... wheres your brother ? come on out here johnny !!!!!
Yes, That boy can sing! Yessireee, he sure can. Not only can he sing, he is an incredible musician. Thanks a bunch for sharing your reaction. I felt the same way the first time I saw him
I saw Edgar Winter in Melbourne Florida at the King Center. He was with Ringo Starr's Allstar Band in 2006. The guy was amazing and did the song Frankenstein. His brother Johnny died in 2014 (the guy singing) Both brothers were amazing in this video. Rip Johnny
The blues stem from a long, dark era of sufferage, adaptation, and triumph. Music IS the universal language of love and passion. I don't care what color you are. It's beautiful.
I’m 66 years old, and am so happy to have seen the Winter Brothers many times. Last time was an Edger Winter Show, then he brought out Johnny ... and the crowd went wild.
First of all this performance was 50 years ago. These two brothers, Johnny on guitar and Edgar on keyboards and sax busted out on the scene to a national audience at Woodstock 1969. They didn't play or LOOK like no other. Johnny stayed with Blues and Rock and Edgar went on to form his own band playing everything from Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk and Progressive Rock. One thing people would say after seeing them play live is that the Brothers Winter would just wear out the audience. I know they did me.
There were so many great musicians around back then, that we got complacent and thought it would always be that way. Not saying that there aren't any people making good music today, but anyone who was around back then will tell you that it's just not the same. It's just not. So glad you're getting to experience a taste of what it was like.
You are so right. I don't think we knew how good we had it. I mean, there were so, so many great bands and musicians, AND, we paid less then $10 to see them live.
Edgar plays keyboards, drums, guitar and of course sax. Johnny plays guitar and is rated one of the best blues guitarist also and he can sing his ass off as well.
Johnny passed away a few years ago, but Edgar is still making great music! Check out Edgar Winter Group album "They Only Come Out at Night" from back in the '70s!
Edgar is the singer / pianist / sax player. Johnny is the guitar player. Both of them are awesome. I'm more of a Johnny Winter guy, but both are great.
You forgot percussionist with Edgar. Check out live Frankenstein. As you may know Edgar was the FIRST musician to take a keyboard and put guitar straps on it and hang it around his neck and play up front! Fkg genius.✌️
I am with you, I love Johnny. Edgar is fine, especially They Only Come Out at Night and the follow-up Shock Treatment and then I lost interest but Johnny was killing it from his debut until his final a few years back just before his passing. I especially love the Johnny Winter And period with Rick Derringer (actually it was Johnny and the McCoys). Derringer contributed to both brothers as band member, song writer and producer too, I believe.
Used to love the Playboy jazz poll every year. All the best jazz players would win best this best that. Then you see rocker Edgar Winter best sax every year. They knew what was up!
They sere ana Were amazing. Johnny was the best blues guitar players evdr. His albums are terrific. Edgar is a musical genius. Edgar just released a tribute to Johnny. Johnny passed away in 2014…. Seeing them live a treat as they rarely performed together.
The guitar player, Johnny Winter, was actually one of SRV's mentors and a true guitar master. Please react to "Be careful with a fool". I dare you. 😎😎😎
Oh hell man! Thanks for sending me back in time with your dare to listen to Johnny. As a guitarist for 46 yrs I worship SRV. I can hear Johnny's influence on SRV! I saw Edgar in 79 but I had no idea man. Far fkg out!!! Thanks brother.✌️💜😀🎶
You need to react to Johnny. He doesn’t sing like Edgar. But he had a beautiful blues voice & was the baddest blues guitar player to grace the earth. Try “Don’t Take Advantage of Me”. Watch this man play. Experience it. There are no words.
Johnny Winter one of the best guitarist of all time...ALL TIME.
A L V I N L E E . . . 😎👍
YES. It’s a famous. Very famous group. The GREAT Johnny Winter. And the great Edgar Winter.
I hate those ads, pushing things at me
Edgar is the most talented singer and musician I've ever heard.
This is why my generation says we had the best music ever! I’m 70

I am 66 years old. I'm an old hippie. I have seen the winter brothers so many times. They are Epic. Big Texas Blues. They defined that.
So true I'm 67 and still can't get enough, the blues will never die, it's a pity people do,Edgar what a voice

BEST...REACTION...TO...A..SONG.....EVER!!! I LOOOOOOVED THIS!!!!
Miss Johnny Winter so much. He had such a gift and thankfully was producing this brilliant music when there was a love of raw talent.
Dang. These guys dont get the credit they deserved.

I seen him live. Yes, he's that good! Guitar genius, and I play!
@Eric Ferguson Light probably hurts his eyes.
Oh man, your journey with these guys is just beginning.
@Eric Ferguson he played a lot with his eyes closed because he was legally blind.

Totally agree. I saw Edgar in 1972 in baltimore in the basement of loyola college. Still ranks as one of the best live performances I ever saw.

Actually, he's better, and a much stronger singer.
He wasn‘t underrated in his prime. There are pictures of J. Winter and Hendrix jamming where Jimi played the bass.

That was the first of many concerts for me and my friends! I'm still going to concerts 51 years later.
The word is, once a reporter asked Jimi Hendrix what it’s like to be the worlds best guitarist, and he said “I don’t know, you’ll have to ask Johnnie Winter”.
Anita Paulus yep
GBeret83 Thanks for the correction. I appreciate it. As I said, I heard it the way I stated.
That was actually RORY GALLAGHER that HENDRIX was referring to 💪👍🤘
Johnny and Edgar Winter came from Port Arthur, Texas.
I believe the Winters came from Beaumont Texas, not Port Arthur
Want to hear something weird. I'm from North East Texas within twenty miles of where I lived. Don Henley, Scott Joplin Roscoe Beck, and TBone Walker stayed.
Legendary
They are from Beaumont Texas Google it
Johnny Winter, and Edgar totally amazing and never underrated by those that loved them🎉 bless you man for your respect.
This is the door the Beatles opened up. I'm 63 now and, well, you see how fricken wonderful our world of music WAS. There is SO much I could say, but hell, you just experienced a bit of it. Thanks for your honest and great reaction! Keep it up!
God removed all of their melanin and replaced it with soul and talent.
Truth
Ameen
Glory
No, no melanin.Nothing to do with it.
Best time of my life
(IMO) The best version of this song was on Edgar Winter's White Trash - "Roadwork" album.
and no matter which brother you paid to see the other brother always showed up to join in ! people keep asking me ......... wheres your brother ? come on out here johnny !!!!!
Rip Johnny
The two most talented brothers ever.
Nicholas Nappi the Allman boys say hello
John Dsvidson no doubt
Abbott brothers say hey.
Stevie Ray and Jimmy Vaughan "Pipeline on the same guitar" ua-cam.com/video/TdmlEZAWYIM/v-deo.html
Along with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmy Vaughan.
Pure Fire. RIP Johnny
The blues stem from a long, dark era of sufferage, adaptation, and triumph. Music IS the universal language of love and passion. I don't care what color you are. It's beautiful.
This is the music I listened to as a young woman. Our music from that time is the best EVER
I’m glad you appreciate man.
Winter bros. are for real and where so good. We are getting old but the music is always actual.
The Winter brothers are famous as hell and incredibly popular in the 1960's and 70's.
Edgar ! Like the man said is the best singer ever ! I've been listening to Johnny and Edgar for over 50 years like yesterday.
Nah, they were great, but did not have "Popular success".
@@mablesyrup1571 Well Frankenstein was a big hit
Always enjoy the younger generation enjoying music of my day.
I was privileged to see both these guys back in the 70s.
I have been listening to Johnny and Edgar Winter since I was 16. I have seen them perform since 1975. They got me into guitar playing.
Same here. Saw Edgar scatting Tobacco Road on his knees at BB King's in NYC in 2006.
Johnny was one of the best blues guitar players ever.
Edgar is the best singers and instrumentalists ever!!!!
Glad you enjoyed!!!!!
Being able to see bands like these in my youth make it worth me being old now. Glad they took you to Church.
Nobody was whiter than the Winter Brothers.... but MAN did they have SOUL.
I love your genuine...excited reactions.
Welcome to my teenage years my brother from another mother.
I’m 66 years old, and am so happy to have seen the Winter Brothers many times. Last time was an Edger Winter Show, then he brought out Johnny ... and the crowd went wild.
Thanks for the reaction, and I like that you don’t pause for your comments - just call it out Man ... Cheers.
This made me amazingly happy. Seeing the young appreciate and respect good music.
Yes, we were definitely blessed with good music back then. I raised my kids listening to “my” music, so they know how great it was.
JA S, so right. Best music EVER. I feel so lucky this was the music I had
Saw Johnny live with Rick Derringer in 1975. Just incredible.
I'm 65.i saw these guys live,,twice!!!and lived through it!!
Edgar plays keyboards, drums, guitar and of course sax. Johnny plays guitar and is rated one of the best blues guitarist also and he can sing his ass off as well.
Jimmy Hendrix said
,,I m not the goat it's Johnny Winter
Or something like that !!!
Johnny passed away a few years ago, but Edgar is still making great music! Check out Edgar Winter Group album "They Only Come Out at Night" from back in the '70s!
I love you and your reaction is priceless..the winter brothers were an essential part of my live❤
Best reaction ever to this!!!!❤❤❤
Edgar is the singer / pianist / sax player. Johnny is the guitar player. Both of them are awesome. I'm more of a Johnny Winter guy, but both are great.
I love Johnny too but the biggest mistake he ever made was leaving Edgar’s band.
You forgot percussionist with Edgar. Check out live Frankenstein. As you may know Edgar was the FIRST musician to take a keyboard and put guitar straps on it and hang it around his neck and play up front! Fkg genius.✌️
It’s funny too, that with that voice, Edgar Winter‘s biggest hit, “Frankenstein “, was an instrumental
Derringer contributed to both brothers as band member, song writer and producer too, I believe.
keytar player
Brother, you've entered the church of the Winters. ALLELUIA!
It's your reaction!! It's your reaction that makes this song so awesome... as well as the fantastic blues.
But everytime he sings something, YOU repeat it perfectly!
Used to love the Playboy jazz poll every year. All the best jazz players would win best this best that. Then you see rocker Edgar Winter best sax every year. They knew what was up!
"Why don"t we talk about these guys?" Is thee greatest UA-cam post in UA-cam post history!
They sere ana Were amazing. Johnny was the best blues guitar players evdr. His albums are terrific.
Edgar is a musical genius.
Edgar just released a tribute to Johnny.
Johnny passed away in 2014…. Seeing them live a treat as they rarely performed together.
Best concerts ever- they would mix with the crowd and just loved playing for us!
👵🏽✌🏾✨🧡✨🧡✨
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The guitar player, Johnny Winter, was actually one of SRV's mentors and a true guitar master. Please react to "Be careful with a fool". I dare you. 😎😎😎
Timothy Gibbons he’ll yea! Amazing song! Johnny and Stevie are the greatest. 1A and 1B. Don’t ask me to pick one...
YES!!!!! Been trying forever to get someone to do this!!! More Johnny Winter! Dude is a beast! His brother’s not too shabby either!
People this music shows our love for each other. Black, White, Asian or whatever. We love each other’s music and should do it all the time.
You need to react to Johnny. He doesn’t sing like Edgar. But he had a beautiful blues voice & was the baddest blues guitar player to grace the earth. Try “Don’t Take Advantage of Me”. Watch this man play. Experience it. There are no words.
