You are sooooo right on point! I grew up in the 60s and 70s and at right around 18 in 1979, I started *really* listening to Zeppelin ... and as a black guy, it was unusual for us to like Rock, but I was like DANG!! I love this group!! I realized later that they were primarily blues ... and this is the funny thing ... these rockers from England got their inspiration from black artists in the US! They *loved* our music, and copied it and made it their own ... NOW, the younger black generation is being reintroduced to our own music in a different way! This is why it resonates with us so much! Super interesting, and I hope this inspires young black folks to pick up musical instruments again!
All the big British bands in the 60s were full of people who walked around with muddy waters, little Walter, John Lee Hooker etc albums when they were younger. Read a book on the Rolling Stones and their first or second time they were in the states, a white journalist asked Keith Richards where they got their inspiration from. Keith replied “the people you stick at the back of the bus, the guys you won’t allow in your restaurants, they have better music, they tell better stories”
Thanks for pulling the Led out for us again. This is one of the best blues songs ever. It was a masterful remake by Zep from an old 1920’s country folk song by Joe McCoy and the Memphis Mini. Seriously, it was about the disaster that occurred from the great Mississippi floods in the early 1920’s. Thousands lost their homes and had to either rebuild or relocate. Led slowed the beat down and mixed it with Rock and Bonham’s heavy drum beat. Plant played the harmonica and Jimmy Page played the smokin’ hot slide guitar. Soulful folk/rock/blues at it’s finest!🔥💎🔥💎🔥💎🔥💎🔥
As long as I live I'll never forget the feeling when they announced that John Bonham had passed away. I was 15 and was going to move heaven and earth to see Led Zeppelin when they toured America that year, tickets had already been sold for some of the shows. It was like getting kicked in the stomach, knowing he was gone and the end of an era had arrived, and I never got a chance to board that train to see them live and in person. I still feel the sting to this day and I always will. Thank goodness we still have what they gave us, what a drummer, what a band. We'll never see the likes of them again ever. The four horsemen.

Great reaction as always man, for a Live Led Zep reaction I'm gonna recommend you do the "How Many More Times Danmarks Radio 1969". This is a performance 2 months after the release of their first album, they all sound like bats outta hell. In the best of ways.
For live zeppelin I'm going to suggest Rock & Roll from the concert film The Song Remains The Same. They open the show with it and instantly blow the roof off Madison Square Garden.
You've got to understand, when they were coming up, they obsessed about old American blues and wanted to find a way to incorporate the old stories into new sounds
“Since I’ve been loving you” live from the song remains the same concert film. Anything from that show honestly... stairway has an amazing extended solo. No quarter is another great one... the list is sooo long
I highly recommend the live solo of Led Zeppelin's drummer, John Bonham-- "Moby Dick" the 15:13 minute video. He's considered perhaps the greatest rock drummer of all time. Watching him is like watching a man possessed. He is a legend lost too young.
Glad you heard this track -- classic Zeppelin. But Dude, I gotta say I felt like I was actually hearing it with you! It’s so cool seeing your reaction. 40 years ago in high school us boys sitting around listening on vinyl and then seeing them play at the garden 1978 was awesome.
Danmark television 1969 live is from their very first tour in Scandinavia, they had met only about 5--6 months earlier! The song is How many more times, and the sound is incredible...50 years ago! This is Zeppelin before they were THE Led Zeppelin.. if you know what I meen, and they were 20 to 24 years old! And the kids in audience were told to sit down and behave! The birth of the best band in history! And they already knew how to improvise like crayzy! The birth of a legend right there and then...and Jimmy with his violinbow. So happy to be alive in their time here on earth!
My favourite Led Zep song. Great honest reaction dude. Glad you were able to play the whole song. Nice if the music volume output was louder than narration.
So happy you are venturing into true "Classic Rock"! Led Zeppelin was the best, and John Bonham, the best drummer ever! He had a 24 piece drum set and never played the same way twice. Always adding strikes between beats. Live song? Stairway to Heaven". Saw them perform it MSG sometime mid 70's... This was always my favorite life song!
My favorite Zeppelin song. Love their version of this Memphis Minnie gem. This song has so much greatness. Best drum performance ever, best harmonica performance ever. Robert's vocals 🔥 as always. BTW, Robert was also the harmonica player, and a good one. Don't forget that awesome slide guitar. Omg. Greatness.
Glad to see someone appreciate the nuances, LZ took a lot of time getting their studio versions spot on. You have only begun to be AMAZED. Make a Mix, take a road Trip
Glad you got to hear this one. There are so many incredible Led Zeppelin songs. You have been listening to their heavily blues-influenced songs, but they have many sounds including hard rock, some classical-influenced songs, and incredible ballads. Try Ten Years Gone, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, No Quarter, In My Time of Dying, and the Immigrant Song. Frankly, you can't go qrong with any of them. It's what makes them arguably the greatest rock band ever. Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are my two favorites. If you venture into Pink Floyd, start with Time followed immediately by The Great Gig in the Sky. Will not disappoint.
When this came out, it was (and still is) one of the best stoner songs ever. A few bong hits and just lose yourself in the music...today, i'm doing a couple hits off the vape, and STILL losing myself in the music...at 63.....Zeppelin is timeless and ageless
If you have to do a live reaction, give “No Quarter” or (if in a desperate mode) “Stairway to Heaven” a whirl. Studio is always intentional. Lives are free flow. All good! 😎👊♥️
Zeppelin was the epitome of British Blues. Blues played louder and heavier but with all the emotion and tradition of it's American originators. To borrow from Spinal tap they took American blues and turned it up to 11. It didn't hurt that all four were exceptional musicians.
Love your Channel young Brother. Now that you've started down the Led Zepp hole, there is no doubt you will some more Bluesy must do tracks, 1)In My Time of Dyin', 2)No Quarter, 3)The Lemon Song, and Possible THE MOST Beautiful song ever written, "The Rain Song".....Peace
In My Time of Dying. It starts off slow with someone dying and asking to be taken home, and ends blasting away as he gets to heaven and shouting "Oh my Jesus!" over and over. It's great, inspirational, and I doubt it could be make today.
Please, PUH-LEEEZ check out "the Wanton Song" It's such a throw away and it encapsulates everything you talked about in describing this track, but The wanton song is really the group at their most irreverent and joyful.
Great reaction!! You do really feel it, that is evident. You can really sing too! As to live performances, Stairway to Heaven MSG 1973, and You Shook Me,, the same concert are great. They also did a song called “The Ocean that you should do the studio and then live version back to back. The Live version of this song is also good from the same concert. Two other song they did called “Achilles Last Stand “ and “Kashmir” from the Knebworth concert in 1979 are both excellent. Gosh, there are so many! One of my favorite songs,”In My Time of Dying” , an old blues song, is a long song, but both the live and studio versions are outstanding.
To capture the intensity of the drums, John Bonham put his drums in the bottom of a stairs and hung microphones down to capture. That's what they had to use at that time. remastered version from the master tapes brings in the drum nicely. See their live album, "The song remains the same." now remember this - they don't play album rock. They take some songs and stretch them out to 15 to 26 minutes. It's a journey
It's amazing how far music has gone off course that people don't instantly recognise a harmonica.
Yup...its an age thing, it spooks me!

If you have to do a live reaction, give “No Quarter” or (if in a desperate mode) “Stairway to Heaven” a whirl. Studio is always intentional. Lives are free flow. All good! 😎👊♥️
Probably my favorite zeppelin tune
I think their best live album is “How The West Was Won”
Incredible album
Zeppelin was the epitome of British Blues. Blues played louder and heavier but with all the emotion and tradition of it's American originators. To borrow from Spinal tap they took American blues and turned it up to 11. It didn't hurt that all four were exceptional musicians.
Kashmir is an all time favorite of mine besides this song.
"Keep It! 'Cause I'm tired!!" Possibly the greatest comment ever to a Led Zeppelin tune.
If it unfolds for you like it did for me, you will find it easier to find the songs you don’t like than those that you do, there will be so few.
Back in the day I had a reel-to-reel with bootleg Zep which was my music for sleeping! It played for 7 hours. Yes!!
3:50 and THAT is why you need headphones for led zeppelin
The masters of rock and roll led zeppelin know one can match them many tried but failed
Great reaction. I maintain that this is the greatest cover of all time.
