Robert Plant was only 19 years old when they recorded this with so much passion and conviction in his voice amazing. Yeah you more Led Zeppelin 🔥🔥🔥 #hangovergang 💯
You can listen to every song ever recorded but you won't find anything more pure, authentic and gut-wrenching. I believe Robert did some of his best work here. He put forward the power of his lament along with his frailty. I've never heard anything so honest.
The greatest band to ever grace the stage every song is fire and a timeless masterpiece no other band can say that ! just one of the reason why they're considered the best and greatest of all time
I am reliving my youth when I see you react to Led Zeppelin. I saw them when I was only 13. It was the only time I ever lied to my parents. I, and 3 others, went to see them live. I felt really guilty at the time, but, I did tell my mother when I got home. She held my hand and said she knew how I felt about music but still grounded me. I was okay with that. It changed my life. I saved all summer that year. I collected cans, mowed yards, picked and sold mangoes, washed cars and shopped for the elderly in my red-lined neighborhood. I bought my first guitar. A Goya 12-string. This band taught me about critical thinking skills, empathy, compassion and the hard knocks of life, including death. I have never feared any of these things since. Robert Plant is still singing and making records today. Try listening to "Please Read the Letter" with Allison Krauss. Beautiful music from a man in his 70's...Robert Plant.
Gotta say this is probably my favorite reaction to any song. 💯 This is my favorite LZ song. It's so good I get teary eyed everytime I listen to it. Not from sadness but from sheer gratitude of it's greatness!!!
I don't why people continue to peddle that Robert Plant was 19 yrs old - he was 20, as was Bonzo (some say Bonzo was 19 too, including a famous drummer on a drum instruction company video). They were precocious for sure. Please do not pass off incorrect information as facts. A hardcore, dyed in the wool Led Zeppelin fan knows Robert was 20. The math is really easy. This album was recorded between Sept 25th and very early Oct 1968. Robert's bday is Aug 20th, 1948. His bdays been Aug 20th - since he was born.

Appreciate what you are doing....masterpieces....band members are in such harmony and no one changes tempo like LedZ. You are listening to Plant at the peak of his powers. Angelic no question and the talent of the other three goes without even saying it. Now close to listening 6 decades of all types of music and I must say I underappreciated them for too long a time...but come to realization that no other rock and roll band comes close to them at their height. Tireless musicians and surging momentum...we are talking approximately 100 songs in less than 12 years and then it was over.
It was great to be young in the seventies. A time when great musicians formed our state of mind for all things wonderful. Led Zeppelin was one the greatest, no bout a doubt it. You got to check out Gentle Giant.
Nice one, Pope- you got it and you GET IT. A Level song and A Level commentary... good deal! Peace and be safe, man. PS I'm guessing we all of us are with you for the every- song- ride.
You are doing something (listening to all Led Zeppelin songs) that many life-long Led Zeppelin fans haven't done (myself included). You are a true rocker. I salute you.
As you keep going down the list of my favorite band, you react intensely. I start thinking of the first time I heard it. It is intense, as many Zepp songs are, they move my heart and mind. I'm very happy that you didn't miss out on these great times from long-gone days . Headbangers.
Love watching you get into Led Zeppelin and appreciating their pure greatness. I remember being 15 in 1975 ,and laying in my living room on the carpet in the dark, with headphones on because my parents thought that kind of music was 'awful'. lol. I listened to them over and over. You have to try that. In the dark with headphones on.
It is great to see young people reacting to those classic groups and their songs. Love the way you felt this amazing song from L.Z. Young people like you "keep good music alive". Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones are groups that already had a high place in the music forever.
Saw LZ twice in concert. Not only could they do rock, acid rock & blues, they could do acoustics and ballads. This is one of my favorite songs by them. Great White does a good rendition of it too.
I agree it is mind boggling how many unbelievable songs they have. Keep it going. If you haven't yet listen to Achilles Last Stand, one of my favorites.
Which song or album would you have chosen? I definitely Loved that song!!!!! tears softly appear. Robert's pain is so smooth and believable. You can feel it through your soul.
I absolutely love your reactions to led Zeppelin. Especially this song! I'd like to think back in the heyday when I first heard this song I reacted exactly the way you did. Keep it up and start learning an instrument buddy you got such natural rhythm and talent and anticipation of what's coming in the song.
This is a reworking of the same song recorded by American folk singer Joan Baez (which itself was a remake; the original was by American folk singer Anne Bredon). When Jimmy was looking to form this band, he and Robert met to listen to some music at Jimmy's house to see if they had the same tastes and get an idea if the partnership would work. Jimmy played Joan's recording and told Robert he had a plan to turn it harder. Your description of "slow, soft, gentle rain to a thunderstorm" is accurate. Zeppelin was known for creating songs of "light and shade" of being able to play "from a whisper to the thunder" as well as their instrumentation being "tight but loose". They excelled in playing in the realms of dichotomy of hard/soft, gentle/savage, beautiful/terrible, etc. - it's in their very name Led (lead is considered a heavy metal meaning it has a high level density and atomic weight) and Zeppelin which is a type of rigid airship that is meant to float and travel the skies.
You just named my 3 favorite bands of all time. Yes, Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd. Yes number 1 and the other two tied for 2nd place as the greatest bands ever!
Took a long time to record this apparently- posts below have Robert at 18, 19 and 20 years old 😁😁 But what matters is this was the Mighty Zeppelins first album and it’s just a brilliant song and performance Great to see you rocking out the way we all did all those years ago Love it Nyco 👍
Jimmy had been writing this song before he even formed the group, but the recording couldn’t have taken too long as Jimmy has said the entire first album was recorded and mixed in just 30 hours 😳. It’s is a really cool song, and one Jimmy played for Robert to give him an idea of the sounds he was looking for in the new band.
Love how the whole song he talks about leaving but at the end says he'll never leave. You can feel his love for her and he can tell he's just setting up for heartbreak
This is one of my favorite Zep songs! I absolutely love your reaction. I think most of us reacted the same you, you did the 1st time listening to it. I have watched your reaction to this multiple times, especially if I am in a funk that day. Keep up the great work! Peace and love, and have a great one! Oh, and thanks for the joy you bring!
I take Zeppelin for granted, which is almost criminal, huge Zep fan and have heard them most of my life, so much so I could be all picky about tracks and albums...but watching others discover certain songs brings back that original magic feeling; Page is an incredible acoustic guitarist though he is known for that Les Paul tone
Well, on a rainy day, you need to do the Zepliphon- which is pretty much putting 10 hours aside to listen to the 9 (10) albums one after the other... there are few to none songs that sound similar. Their diversity is one of the many reasons that they will be remembered 500 years from now (ridiculous talent and a matchup of 4 of the greatest) I enjoy your reactions Dude !
