My son (3) and I love watching your videos and adventures. Thanks for the hard work you put into these and i am sure all the unseen struggle as well. From Huntington Beach CA
Man, that is the first time I could see how really heavy your anchor chain is - You Strong ! Every one of those little islands looked liked something out of a Fairy Tale Book & it seemed like there should be a Castle sitting on top of one. Unmatched Beauty is VERY Accurate! Thank you SO much.
Great videos of real sailing. You are so genuine and fun to watch. I’m a venturing sailor myself but still working so a month goes by on land before I return to my boat. Logistics that change the experience for sure. You bridge it! I couldn’t do it alone but perhaps all these loving fans provide a synthetic crew?! Cheers.
Thanks for the kind comment 🙏🏻 On the subject fans being a “synthetic crew”…. A number of people have made such comments, Solo sailing is very much a solo endeavor even if people enjoy the videos after the fact. Doing everything alone is not made easier by knowing people will be reading the stories or watching the videos once they are made 👍🏻
Hi mate, thanks for your awesome videos, love all of them. Can't wait to see if you stop on my little island called Tasmania, on the bottom of Australia. Stay safe and fair winds to you on your amazing journey 🙂
@@SailorJames can't wait to see your view of our amazing island. So much to see, never enough time but what a masive journey your sharing with us. Thankyou from all your viewers who truly appreciate every second of it.
Another super video James, great to see Triiteia doing what she loves best. Bay of Islands looks spectacular. Thanks for another great video. Safe travels bro☘☘
Beautiful views all around. Loved the hiking and cruising around the bay of islands. Such an amazing place to explore...Thanks for sharing James! May fair winds be with you my friend!🌬⛵
Cheers again, mate! I Followed this when you did it on your tracker - great to see the trip for real! Have a coffee and cake on me. I'm sailing my own modest little boat (south uk) and solo or short handed, exploring our local coast. Just took a 'pilgrimage' back to where my boat - a Contessa - and I were born, Lymington, Solent, uk. As a local coastal sailor, your videos, experience and knowledge really do filter down to us guy and want to say thanks for carrying that 'flag of dreams' for us! I'm in the aviation industry since 16, and probably my only saving grace is turning the engine off and going by sail at the earliest opportunity. With family and the 'normal' societal ties, it's the closest to true freedom I've felt (with family). I'm just trying to get them to break free a bit! As we're taught by our parents, it can't be 'all' in bricks and mortar? There's got to be space for dreamers, explorers and artists.....hopefully. Thanks for reminding us that there is a great adventuring, exploring spirit within all of our reaches! Cheers, mate, Fair winds and following seas
Great place to drop anchor ... James. Protected reserves are the best places to dive and film the fish 🐠🐟 learn pretty quickly where its safe to hang out and let humans get close.
Hi James, here is a follower from Mallorca, Spain. Love the way you make the videos, very interesting and relaxing 👍, I have a little Cutlass 27 and when at anchor in areas where she might drag, I always let out more chain and add some led waits, that way it helps to keep the chain down and increases the spring when the wind pick up.
I think what sets you apart from a lot of the other sailing channels is that ultimately, you are about the boat. The destinations are cool, your editing skills are growing by leaps and bounds and the scenery is always amazing but kind of like Barry Perrins and White Shadow, in the end… the real story is the relationship between you and Triteia.
Love the Yarn Series. Would you please describe the materials needed to install your solar panels on the cockpit stanchions. I would like to do something similar on my 30 footer.
When you sail into Sydney Harbour, one of the greatest harbours in the world, you’ll see how easily Captain Cook missed the entrance completely in 1788.
@@SailorJames The Endeavour grounded on the Great Barrier Reef of what is now North Queensland, they threw a ships cannon, recovered 200 years later, to lighten the ship and then unstuck her and ran aground on a beach and saw that a chunk of coral was stuck in the hole the collision made. The Endeavour would have sunk if the coral hadn’t got stuck in the hole. They repaired the hole and cleaned the hull and then set sail again. The British Admeralty were agog when they read his diaries.
Just imagine sailing with no engine, an unresponsive boat, no map, a superstitious crew and no chance of rescue. Do you know the story of Captain Bligh set adrift near Pit Cairn Island in an open row boat and sailing it to East Timor.
@@SailorJames I've seen testing where the harder you pull an Ultra, the deeper it goes. And it even digs in when it gets turned. But I know Mantus owners swear by their anchors.
James, as southern California Bay and Catalina back n forth sailer, I don't know how you can navigate so close to land without a million charts! How do you know where it is safe to sail and anchor when for the most part these are new waters for you?

When you sail into Sydney Harbour, one of the greatest harbours in the world, you’ll see how easily Captain Cook missed the entrance completely in 1788.
He missed the entrance to Auckland Harbour also, which makes sense with how difficult it must have been sailing those ships safely near the coastlines
Yay! New video! James, have you looked into the Ultra anchor? I'm curious what you think.
I would never own any primary anchor that wasn’t an Mantus 💪🏻
What size is your Mantus anchor?😮
@@SailorJames I've seen testing where the harder you pull an Ultra, the deeper it goes. And it even digs in when it gets turned. But I know Mantus owners swear by their anchors.
How are you not going snowblind sir?
James, as southern California Bay and Catalina back n forth sailer, I don't know how you can navigate so close to land without a million charts! How do you know where it is safe to sail and anchor when for the most part these are new waters for you?
Navionics charts are very reliable everywhere I have been (except some spots in Fiji)

I have an app to track vessels, what is your call sign or MMSI?
In your travels, do you ever get boarded by the Coast Guard?
Nope, never
