  • With the canvas work now completed, it was finally time to run Boogaboo across the lake to our home port. If you recall, our official 'Sea Trial' ( • Sea Trial Day - How Di... )was no more than shifting in and out of gear as the boat sat tethered to a dock in Sandusky, Ohio, so this was my actual sea trial. All systems ran well and she handles like a dream!!
To follow along with the entire journey, please check out my 'Buying A Boat - The Good, Bad & Ugly' playlist here: • Buying A Boat - Sea Ra...

Excellent boat control at the gas dock. Not fast, not flashy, slow steady boring, no surprises, perfect.

Nice docking boat handling. I applaud you!!! I am not quite as good yet. There is NOTHING as beautiful as the sound of the two 454 ci engines you play so well. I have a similar 2000 SD380, new to me, and I am learning ... and having a blast in the process.

Thank you for that, but as I always say, this boat handles itself 😉 I'm lucky to have had five season's of docking and cruising fun on our prior 330 Sundancer (Sea Ray 330 Sundancer: ua-cam.com/play/PLKhjT5kr2l2H0GeaEMncQiW3yG9N6L6uQ.html) and was extremely happy with how well that boat responded to the helm, as opposed to the big 400 Sedan Bridge we had before that. Sea Ray 400 Sedan Bridge: ua-cam.com/play/PLKhjT5kr2l2FaABQJSn3VVqd6SN930ICt.html
All three boats shared the exact same 7.4 Mercruiser Bluewater engines, but I'd have to say that the current 370 Dancer is the best of them all. A perfect balance of power and weight makes it an absolute pleasure to handle! 😁
Do yourself a favour and get that lovely 380 of yours out as much as possible, even just tooling around your marina, to get accustomed to what she can do for you.

Love your joy in this video. Your expression shows exactly what I feel every time my Sundancer goes up on plane on Lake Michigan. There's just something that makes me want to shout!😀The other thing that gets me is the WHOOSH sound the props make right when they first really start stirring the water. Until the big inboards I never had that sound under my outdrive-equipped boats before. It's awesome. (And expensive)

Canvas guy here. Not a bad job. I see some wrinkles in the strataglass. Maybe when the ones that are open are closed it will tighten those areas up a bit and pull the wrinkles out. A quality job won't have wrinkles in the strataglass and it should be at least .40 gauge. Front stbd looks a bit wrinkled too. It changes as it gets older, but should fit better when new. I recommend taking the side curtains out and laying them flat on a bed or something instead of rolling them up as they will get distorted from being rolled up.

Great to see her go!! And water so perfect. So wanting that too. We are still on the hunt for our next, bigger boat. But prices are high at the moment and just limmited number of boats that may be interesting. Price wise and size wise and layout wise. Last year we looked at one and it was great but with some issues. so spent two days of checking thr internet and calling companies to know what it would take for the repairs it needed and the moment we called to make an offer we heard it was sold. Bummer. But still have the old one so can still be out on the water for the time being.

The specs are in every video description. Apart from cruising at 21 MPH @ 3,200 RPM, I'm only going to guess that she'll burn the same 1 gallon per mile as the last two boats (with identical powerplants) did. Beyond that, I'm not going to worry or waste my time with ultra precise calculations, as it's pointless to me. It is what it is.

Nice video. Will you be going through the Georgian bay this July? I’ll be there near Henry’s. At our cottage.

The iPad won’t work with navionics unless it is one that can take a SIM card. Watching rest of video as you throttle up

Actually, it does work without a SIM card, just tried it at our marina and it's working fine now. Don't know what the issue had been, other than the fact it's an Apple product 😜
The old iPhone I was using hasn't had a SIM card in it for the past 7 years and Navionics - the only thing it's used for - works perfectly, every time....

Sorry, I should have been more specific. iPads that cannot accept a sim don’t for some crazy reason have a gps capability. Does yours have a sim slot. You don’t need a SIM card . If you have the slot it should work with navionics

So crazy how the lake is perfectly flat but the earth is spinning at 1000mph and orbiting the sun at 66,600mph and chasing the sun at 448,000 mph. Yet the water is still. Hmmmm.

$1.46 a litre, Canadian? Would have been very happy with that, as the cheapest we saw in 2022 was $2.20 at Trenton, just before we did our Rideau Canal voyage.

I don't know where you do your boating, but on-water gas prices are ALWAYS at a premium. Average difference from road prices are usually in the neighborhood of 40-50 cents or more than street prices. And that's everywhere, all the time. I've been boating for more than 50 years, so again, I'd love to learn where you saw gas for only $1.46/litre on the water. . .

Here's a video I did a few years ago regarding how much fuel we use. The gas prices are different, but the specs would still be the same. Number one question I get is how much do we spend in gas. Here's the first part of that equation; ua-cam.com/video/pzjhIEVJ5vI/v-deo.html
