- A full tour of the engine room in our 1998 Sea Ray 370 Sundancer. I tried to point everything out, but if I missed something, please feel free to ask what a particular item is!
I referred to a number of videos I have on many of the projects/upgrades I've done on this boat. Rather than listening them individually, I would encourage you to check the full playlist for all the projects I have done on our last three Sea Ray boats; 'How I Did It - Boat Repairs and Upgrades' playlist; • How I Did It - Boat Re...
I mentioned that I would share a link to the Velvet Drive transmission manual, but I'm unable tyo locate where I found my copy. Just do a search for 'Velvet drive series 5000' if that is the model you are after.
We purchased our lovely Sea Ray 370 Sundancer Sight Unseen! To see our entire journey, please check out my 'Buying A Boat - The Good, Bad & Ugly' playlist here: • Buying A Boat - Sea Ra...

Happy Boating :-)
That engine compartment is immaculate!
Thanks! But I still see a couple of areas that need more attention, like around the batteries and holding tank. Alas, that's for another year 😅
Thanks for the detailed tour and all your boating tip videos! I'm new to boating (as an adult) and hoping to buy my first one in the next few years. Your channel is a great source for education.
So glad to hear that! Best of luck with your upcoming boat purchase!!
Great video. You gave me the confidence to replace my battery charger and tackle other repairs.
Glad it helped!
That’s a very clean engine room!
Thanks! Pride of ownership and grateful for such a nice vessel 😊
Great video as usual! Compliments as well regarding the cleanliness of your engine room....this would be one of our similarities...we like clean!! CHEERS!!
Love a clean engine room 👌
Thanks for showing us what B.O.A.T stand for. Break out another thousand 😅
If only we could go back to the days where things 'only' cost a thousand 😂
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo 😅
Love the pronautic chargers. I have the 12/40 charging three banks and the remote display . Great piece of kit
They are! Saved me on the last boat and this one has worked flawlessly on the current 370.
Nice and very clean🙂 Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for watching!
Wow boogaboo's engine room is very impressive and very clean. Boogaboo is awesome!! 😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you 🤗
very clean!
Appreciate it!
I sure wish I had that much room in my 340's engine room.
As you know, our prior 330 Dancer had the same, tight engine room as your 340, so it's been a treat to have some much more space to work in!
Some children's toys have age recommendations. Cramped engine rooms should have a placard saying "not recommended for adults over 60". I don't bend like I used to.
Me neither 👴🏻
Great video Thanks !!!
Thank you 😀
Jesus Christ...Never seen a bilge so clean and dry. Looks unreal
We were fortunate to find one that was mostly clean and I've done my best to bring it to this point. Thanks!
Thanks for the tour, Paul. Very helpful and informative for sure. What type of stuffing boxes does your boats' shafts have and any issues you've run into? Cheers
This one, as well as our two prior Sea Rays have/had factory installed dripless shaft seals which are seawater cooled. Never any issues to report.
Omg what an informative video. I was attentive to every detail presented especially ahead of my planned 2025 Trent-Severn Waterway adventure starting in Ottawa, thanks so much. Question: Anything at the top of your head that comes to mind when it comes to having certain spare parts aboard (must haves and nice to have) for the engine compartment (duck bill valves a for sure lol) but parts that may be potentially hard to get or take a long time to arrive if they fail, like spare vacu flush pressure switch, bilge float and pump? Given that I have a similar Sea Ray as yours, lucky me, I started gathering all parts numbers and stores from your videos to have one go-to list aboard that I can refer to in case I must order a part quickly once under way, and it proved useful already. Great video as always, thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next one.
Apart from what you've already gathered, I'd suggest spare impellers for the genny, seawater pump kit(s) for main engines, as well as a spare serpentine belt. I have an old one that I replaced which would keep us moving before getting a new one.
Extra fluids (oil, transmission and antifreeze if you're closed cooling) are a definite must.
I'm sure I'll think of something else, but just take another look at my video on the tools and spares I have on Boogaboo, as a refresher.
The benefit of your potential cruise through the TSW, depending on how far you go, is that there's lots of places along the way that can get parts for you, even if you have to wait a day. When we had the shift cable break back in 2022, the small marina next door to where we were staying at (Islandview Resort) was able to get the replacement ones overnighted so that I could do the repairs and get on our way again in relatively short order. . .
Noted and will do on all counts! A thousand thanks :)) Wish me good “lock”. Doh! LOLOL.
Paul beautiful engine compartment. Super clean and organized. What kind of cleaner do you use on all the surfaces?
@TheRetiredBoater Good lock. See, you're doing it again 😜
You just said it! Super Clean 👍
I didn’t understand your comment regarding the main battery switch. When do you need to turn it off?
Didn't say the main battery switch, as I was only referring to the generator battery switch. If you've ever done any electrical work around your home (change a light fixture, for example), you would most likely have turned the power off to the electrical circuit controlling that item, beforehand.
Same with the generator - or the engine starting batteries - to be safe from potential electrocution. As well, most folks will shut those battery circuits off when not in use for an extended period of time, such as the off season, to help lessen voltage loss.
Did it really need v drives. Seems like there is room for traditional
You are going to have to go back in time and ask the designers and engineers at Sea Ray why they did it.
