In a small northern Louisiana town call Vivian Louisiana i remember the most popular kids parent had one of these beautiful gems, love love love this memories lane🛣️🛤️
That drivers pod style instrument panel says all Exclusive to the 69 & 70 it was ahead of its time very functional and ergonomic if they even knew what ergonomics were back then made the driver feel special and intuitively in controll
I love these. I had a 69 390 four door as a kid. Just wondering why they left the under hood area rusty and not detailed. That’s like finding out your date hasn’t showered.
Those are not original to the XL, or XL GT, they are the higher end covers for the LTD model I'm thinking. My '69 XL ragtop came with magnum 500 style wheel covers (429 4 bbl dual exhaust).
Nice car. My grandfather had a ’69 XL Sportsroof, Bright Blue Metallic with white vinyl top and interior with buckets and console with "U-bar" shifter. I always loved that car, especially the wrap-around "Flight-Cockpit Instrument Panel." Unfortunately before I could get my hands on it the XL was mortally wounded by the insidious dark lord of oxidation, performing his evil deeds over the course of 15 Omaha winters! :-( FYI this car is not a Galaxie. It is an XL. It was a separate model 1968-1970. The calling cards of the XL were bucket seats and console, but in later years the bench became standard and the XL's signature bucket seats with console became an option.
I had a 1966 XL 390 V8 with factory air with vents made of metal not plastic. It had the console with the chrome T automatic shifter and bucket seats. On the rear quarter panels there was an emblem that said Galaxie 500 and on the trunk lid above the key hole there was an emblem that said XL the only place on the car that model year that had the XL emblem. In the later model years Ford dropped Galaxie 500 and just went with XL.

This car is very nice and everything about this car is correct and proper.
The wheel covers were called "luxury wheel covers" by ford. They were optional on all trim levels. This is a great looking classic vehicle.
Love the music

Back looks like a Galaxy. Front and hub caps look like a LTD.

This is the correct back end for the XL and LTD.
