BIOACTIVE DESK VIVARIUM for Glass Frog (Temporary setup)

- Welcome back to yet another silent video where i'm building a Bioactive Vivarium build for 'Spectra' my new Northern Glass Frog (Hyalinobatrachium fleischmanni).
In this video i'll be setting up another one of Zilla's Arboreal Micro Habitats with this one measuring 8" L X 6" W X 14" H. This enclosure is temporary as i'm making her a better one this month and possibly get her a friend If you keep more than one of these frogs together then I would recommend a much bigger enclosure size as they can be rather territorial and active at night.
As I stated in my last "silent video" that as much as I love to talk....I don't always like to and can be mute at times. Sometimes when I start filming a video I do intend to talk in them but then get overwhelmed with what I want to try and say or how to say it so instead I decided that once in a while when i'm in these moods i'll do these "no talking" videos or wait to voice them over later.
Don't forget to always research into an animal before acquiring them, i should not be your only source of information. With that being said, in the future, I would like to possibly do an informational and care video on these guys as I couldn't find too many of my own.

I love amphibians and I currently have dumpy frogs but I didn't know u could get these guys as pets I love them! Please do a care video! I'd love all the info I can get as I'd definitely like these in the future if they're right for me

I love this! This is the first video I've really seen of the Northern Glass Frog so far. I've done a bit of research but I was wondering, what kind of plants did you use for your little gal?
Pothos and Philodendrons are by far really great for these guys, check out my updated video as well that I did on them!

Thank you! They are rather loud for a tiny thing, but you can hear them from another room faintly I would say and that’s about it. Terrarium was second hand~ It’s an ExoTerra tho :)
What is the white bottle with a head by the turkey baster that you use to clean the cage? Was that a fogger or a water purifier or something else?! Thanks for this video. God bless you sis. Oh I’d like one but need to know all about set up in detail like what plants 🪴 to use and what else you do to make it a live-able conditions and how to maintain high humidity levels in a glass tank and or plastic and or screen tank if you could help with it I’d be delighted. I would like one as i have roots from C.A. and really love frogs 🐸 I even enjoy the local tree 🌳 frogs that lerk around my parents banana trees Subhan Allah. That’s just my mister/sprayer :) Plants that I love for these guys are philodendron, pothos, and creeping fig. Many other plants can be used but these are my favourite. Humidity depends on your environment and setup is like, ultimately misting them two to three times a day helps me achieve my humidity needs. Hope this helps and thank you again!

Thanks!!! They eat fruit flies and extra small crickets :) I mist about once or twice a day, this enclosure keeps the humidity in rather well!

Where did you get these beautiful frogs?I want one so bad,you know where I could get one?
How do you keep the water pool clean tho? Bacteria can still grow, despite water changes
So how does one keep a healthy clean decorative pond within a tank?
I believe at the end I explained how I just would suck the old water out with a Turkey baster but in larger enclosures you would do water changes with a siphon regularly
@@RedsFaunaverse you did, I just thought frogs are very delicate and my impression was that it didn't seem that would be enough to keep the enclosure clean?
Then I thought about it and realized ponds and such where frogs live in the wild are full of bacteria and a turkey blaster water change is probably sufficient. 😉👍
@@Anon_E_Muss I don’t have this setup anymore but even if you think of drainage layers in normal vivariums the water may sit at the bottom but the more you change it the more clean it’ll be!
Do the plants stay alive with a grow light?
Yes :) She has now been move to a different enclosure with a UVB light and grow light

Where did you get your frog from?
From my work at All Reptiles. They’re CITES now so it’s gunna be a lot harder to find them

@@anotheryoutbechannel “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) is an international agreement between governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten the survival of the species” this means that if no one’s breeding them in your country of origin you no longer can acquire them. This is unfortunately what happens when people take advantage of wild caught animals. More of a reason to captive breed reptiles and amphibians!

@@anotheryoutbechannel I’m still trying to, there is lots of calling and breeding behaviour. But I’m trying to figure out how to build a rain chamber to imitate the rainy season which helps encourage them to breed.

They are not common, very sensitive frog, but I will always recommend a reputable breeder in your country of origin if possible.
are these frogs hard to care for?
I would say they are a more advanced amphibian species and personally wouldn’t recommend them for new keepers

At this time I unfortunately do not but do have an update video on them I did recently where I do talk about them a bit more and touch up a little on their care.
