@@herpdiversity9152 thank you! I’d like to do an aquatic base for myself. Even if I sacrifice a few plants species I feel like I can keep the frogs cleaner
Hey man, maybe you could help answer a few questions for me since you have a similar setup to this. Is the water that’s already present in the tank enough for the red eyes to drink from? Or do you still keep a water bowl for them? Any dangers in keeping small fish in the water base? Would they make the water unsafe for the red eyes to drink? And lastly, would a water feature like a waterfall bother the frogs at all? I appreciate your time!
Fantastic set up, you are a pioneer in reptile amphibian husbandry. I have been keeping them for years and never seen you methods. How do you feed your large colony? Do the crickets drown? And what time of day do you feed them, how do you insure that all frogs are eating?
This is a great and informative video...at the same time, I'm often taken aback by the way you talk about yourself and your business... knowing that you keep posters up to send messages to the employees is even more upsetting...maybe I'm totally off-track. Hopefully you are a joy to work with.
Hey Bio Dude! After months of research and UA-cam searching. I’ve finally come across this vid with a total aquatic tank bottom. Been looking for resources to do it myself. Think you can do an in depth tutorial soon? Or direct me to some info? Thx!
Thankyou for this video it’s very very informative and is going to help me as well with my tree frog breeding project. You have one of the best videos, I’ve watched many rain chamber videos, your the only one I’ve seen to successful breed them without a rain chamber. I have this same exact padularium cage but it’s not that size. It’s 12x12x18, maybe I need this larger size, I also wasn’t able to figure out how to get the water bottom and set up like this so I left it as a land gratuities with separate tanks for tadpoles and another for a rain chamber.
Hey bio dude I'm looking into getting a vailed chameleon and I just watched your panthern chameleon video and I really liked it and I want a similar setup for my chameleon, what size cage was that from the video and also could I buy that same substrate from your website? Also I'm looking for the lowest cost possible and I don't know if I'm ready to get the most king system because it is expensive, I have a budget of around $450 here. Any tips or links or anything would be very helpful thanks!
Is a paludarium ideal for Red Eyes? Or is that more for breeding purposes? I have 3 in an 18x18x24 bioactive terrarium, but I just recently got this exact Exo Terra and was thinking about setting up something like this. Just wasn’t sure if it was better for the frogs or not.
Bio broh!!! Would you recommend the monsoon system/fogger for a similar setup? I know it's not necessary, but it looks cool and let's me be lazy so I can focus on other paludarium related tasks.
I want to do a similar set up and I was curious as to how you feed them with crickets if there isn't really a land where the crickets can go or if you get a lot that drown or putting a bowl with crickets in it?
Hi Josh! I’ve purchased a good amount of substrates and plants from you in the past. I am working on a new Red Eye enclosure similar to this one with a fully water base. A couple questions for you… do you still keep a water bowl in yours? Or is the water in the tank enough for them? Any danger of them falling into the water? If I had some tetras living in the water below, would it make the water unsafe for the frogs in any way? And lastly, if I had a running water feature of a waterfall in the tank, would it bother the frogs at all? I appreciate your help and will continue to support your business whenever I can!
Hey there Zack! Love the idea you have! Answering in order- yes always provide either a water bowl or an area where fresh water can be drank safely by the animal inside(seeds and nut pods, biodegradeables etc as well). Spraying down the enclosure daily will also be a form of fresh water that the animals can drink off the plants. If there is a large body of water there will unfortunately always be the risk, i would just make sure there are large decor pieces so they can climb onto them and get out. Most frogs can do a minor amount of swimming to get out of water if needed. I have not done a paludarium with fish so i cannot give you a solid recomendation for the tetras, apologies. the waterfall would need great care and maintenance to keep from having issues but it think if the enclosure were a large enough space that they had ample room to be away from it, it would be just fine. Please reach out to customercare@thebiodude.com and the team can get you setup with the supplies needed for a kit! Hope this helps!! The Dude Abides! - ua-cam.com/video/j9-7VVXvlOk/v-deo.html
The barometric pressure from thunderstorms affect the frogs and help with breeding, which is why he mentioned the thunderstorm. You can also lower temps, cut back on feeding, and then put the frogs into a water chamber to help with success.
my daughter committed me to project of raising up tadpoles (grays tree frog). we were successful however feel like i made a mistake on stage one where i had a very similar set up (plastic bid) as you but i had about 100 tadpoles in that bid. they seemed to be cannibalistic until the numbers got to about 20 in the bin.. next time around i will separate them out 20 by 20 for that amount of space. Have you ever heard of such a thing?
