I’ve lived in Singapore for two decades, a lifestyle very similar to Tokyo and Japan, and so i definitely feel your pain and inner struggles. I decided to save my soul and sanity, and took a huge gamble - once graduating with my bachelors degree I’ve decided to move to Taiwan to find myself and to start a new life. Your decision to make a break with the system is admirable and I salute your bravery. its good you realized whats important in your life. some people well a lot of people dont and they just keep living everyday in the rat race of a society. i always say to people in japan to try to live or visit out of the country. see how life is different. its not better but its different. its like if you live and eat rice everyday, you gotta try eating bread once in awhile. you may appreciate it in a different way or see things differently.
That's absolutely true. Broadening your horizons often leads to new discoveries and realizations. I feel that being exposed to other countries and cultures, not just Japan, will bring a breath of fresh air to my own values and way of life. I think that enjoying small changes and new experiences in life will help you live richer, more fulfilling days. Let's continue to learn and grow together!

Everyone needs to focus on their own plans and goals in life. You only have one life. Work to achieve financial freedom and live life on your terms. My advice is to work hard for 5 years while you are young. Live with your parents, or get roommates to lower your costs. Then, do whatever you can to save $20,000 a year for 5 years. Get a second job if you have to. Once you have saved $100K, you can relax a little knowing that your investments will grow to over $1M in 20 to 30 years. You must still contribute every month, but not as much. Maybe $500/mo. Now that you have secured your future, you can seek employment that makes you enough to cover your current living expenses. You no longer feel trapped. You can step off the hamster wheel and pursue your passion. You were taught to build a career and retire old. What you weren't taught is how to build wealth at a young age and retire early, very early.
