You bet they're dancin', shaggin' on the boulevard
You know they're dancin', shaggin' on the boulevard

As one of the dancers in this video, I love reading all the comments. Life was simple back then. Hang out with friends, dance on the weekends. It was pure and it was fun. Love seeing how this song takes everybody back to a simpler time.
Oh, definately! Takes me back!
Looks like everybody had dancing shoes.
It was a wonderful time! Let me say all the dancers were great!
This is a treasure to watch. Takes me back to better, kinder times
Thank you for this I am 62 and still love this video. The song is good but video is great. Beach music forever!!!!

Myrtle Beach's Best Days Ever................Long gone now
RIP myrtle beach and thanks for the memories of years gone by
Yeah, that place is full of m13
Great Memories!
Oh those were the days here in South Carolina!
Alabama is great
Proper SHAGGING music 💙🏴
So many people will never know what it was like in Myrtle Beach South Carolina back in the 60's-80's. A time for innocence and just plain fun. No matter where you go in this world, they're no other beaches like Myrtle beach was during that time period. None in California, Florida or New Jersey. It has changed now. The Famous Pavilion is gone for some reason we don't know. Drugs have taking over parts of Ocean Blvd. Prostitutes all over the place, black bike week out of control with their vulgar dressing and actions in front of little children. This song that Alabama plays here is what it was like back then. It will never be the same again. I am one of the fortunate to have experienced this error.
So glad to see Alabama's still in it.....still doin..it.......
Child of the 60's & 70's. Grew up going to Myrtle every summer, missing the Sun Fun festival would have been the worst thing ever! Lol. Being from SC, the saying was...if you hadn't been to Myrtle or Folly during the summer, you hadn't been anywhere. That's why I love this song. We walked everywhere and didn't realize we were having the time of our lives. Ah nostalgia...I can still remember the smells of Hawaiian Tropic and ocean. And we danced our feet off, even us kids. Everytime I hear this song I still shag a few steps and smile. Thank you Alabama for capturing my youth 😊
Hello 👋 Deloris, how are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Joe Michael and I live in Denver Colorado, you seem like a real country girl
Some of these comments date back up to 11 years ago....how time has passed without us noticing....but December 2021 still a classic
Oh don’t worry. I’ve noticed
@@mxwells216me too
I grew up in Myrtle Beach and saw Alabama perform at the Bowery many times. I miss the music from that time and the simple life.
Loved Alabama from the first time I heard them on the radio and now I have a home in Myrtle Beach and eventually I will have to pay a visit to the Bowery.
Go there! Their current house band is fantastic and reminds me of Alabama. The Bounty Hunters
They need to bring back more dancing and socializing like we had back then. It definitely unites people ❤️😊
Hello!!! How are you doing today! Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan!.... Stay Safe
THIS IS HOW YOU SHAG !!!!!!!!!!!!! 22222 the music!!! NOT JUST DOING STEPS !!
As so many posters have mentioned, MB will never be the same without The Pavilion. Biggest Mistake Ever.
Sad Day : Rest in Peace Jeff Cook.
Thank you for sharing your guitar and fiddle skills with the world.

I'm 34 years old and when I was a teenager the strand at Myrtle beach was the place to be on the weekends. This song sure does bring back some great memories. I wish my kid would get to experience the strand the way it use to be. Now there's nothing up there.
Those times are over, sure wish I could bring them back! Had so much fun growing up! God Bless and be safe!
Yep street walkers and meth and wierdos now . Big difference .
AMEN, HON. SO VERY TRUE!
Hey brother dirty myrtle still happening but nothing like when we was teens 33 now miss those days
Lots of fun. 👍🇺🇸
Somehow, Alabama's music never gets old...just timeless
So true!

This song and video have aged so beautifully.
Simple Times just having fun
I love it when you walk on the board walk hear there music playing!
I love this song ! Love walking on boardwalk hearing bama music while walking
The Bowery boys at it again
Sign used to say “Free beer tomorrow” at the Bowery. RIP to the Pavillion.
This has to be one of the greatest country songs to date. Singing about something real, not what will "sell" in today's industry. One of the greatest country bands (if not the best) of all time.
This not a country song, it's a beach music song. It is my favorite video of all time.
Country's G O A T Band. Always wished they had called themselves Auburn.
Did anyone ever see the Movie, Shagging? I had it on a VHS Tape, wore it out, was a great fun movie!
Needed an escape from the world today, and looked up this song. I loved it when it came out, and played it often. It’s just like an old friend I haven’t seen in years. Thank you Alabama!
Had the VHS video of The Shag, was so good wore it out! Still love this song! I know what ya, mean, an oldie and good friend!
I loved the movie and loved this song! Good taste in music! Enjoy!
Hot Rod Dad! I loved this song and the movie! My VCR died but still love this song! Enjoy! Life too short not to listen to what ya love! Me too! God bless!
Jesus loves you
Same here, it's like an old friend you haven't seen in a long time.
Thanks Alabama for many years of GREAT music.
This is beach music you right and I remember how young I was when I first heard this song I was 21 years old and I loved it the and I love it now and will be 60 year old may 19 1963
I was born at this date but on may 19 ;2023 I will be 60 years old I'm getting married in April 2023 somtime
Myrtle Beach is so sad today compared to the 60's and 70's. I wish I could go back in time..... but I still have the memories!
MountainManSc bike week was pitiful too
I hear ya!
Memories, that's a good thing!
I do too, was such a wonderful time !
This was filmed in Wilmington, NC😁
Love the music, cruised alot in the 60's. My hubby restored a '57 T-bird just like the one in the video. We visited Myrtle Beach later in life. Would have loved to visit back when!
Hello 👋 Sharon, how are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Joe Michael and I live in Denver Colorado, you seem like a real country girl
Country legends. Awesome music!
Yes I love this song. I grew up going to Myrtle Beach and continued after I married my husband . We have listened to Alabama play at the Bowery long before they became famous . I love these guys. They are just good ole country Boys and I hate that they grew up and got old like me. But I still have my memories of standing in line to buy tickets to see their concerts in many cities .
Wish we could bring these times back. These were good times are you sure don't have country music nowadays like Like they did then this country music today is not country music
It never gets old !
The perfect mix of country and Carolina Beach music.👍✌️🖖😎
It seriously doesn't get any better than this!
I love is song
One of the best Beach music songs ever. Went to most of these places in South Carolina. I am from Eastern North Carolina. 64 years old and have listened to Alabama. Craig Woolard of the Band The Embers is my 4th cousin.
Alabama will always be one of the greatest bands in the world!! I am a Tuscaloosa native and just in case you have been living under a rock we also play a little FOOTBALL!!!
A little is a lot. Can you say CLEMSON.
Gosh, watching this brings back a few memories...Seeing Alabama at the Bowery when I lived in South Carolina..One of the best country groups ever and the nicest guys. They kept their country roots. Great song!!
My Mom's favorite vacation spot N. Myrtle Beach before she passed in 2020.
I grew up in North Carolina and spent a lot of time in Myrtle Beach and Charleston when I was growing up so this song has always been and always will be very special to me.
Alabama. it doesn't get any better.
I agree! Saw them several times in Cincinnati! They were fantastic!
Absolutely!!!
Amen, Brother!
❤ when I was in the hospital depressed in a wheelchair this song made my heart happy!! ❤
I get depressed from driving all night every night for my job, but alabama makes it go more smoothly.
Amen, I agree! Songs to sing to, makes it a lot of fun!
I have the Serius Radio in my car! Non-stop music! Love it and sing all the time!

Love this song and video by Alabama. They captured Myrtle Beach exactly during my teen years and after with my husband, now deceased.
Brings back so many memories! ❤
I am 72 now and in my day was a good dancer. But coming from the Philly area, we did not dance or even heard music like this. I wish I had as that dance looks like a ton of fun.
It was back in my day and still is one of the smoothest dances you can do.
Alabama, Shagging On The Boulevard oh yeah. Love you Alabama.
Spent way too many nights in the Bowery watchin these guys get famous
Love this song wish country music was still like this
Me too.Alabama was one of a kind.
This is beach music
Me too sandy
Man....I used to watch my dad dance to this song when i was a kid in around 1992. That's what i will always remember when i hear this song.💓
@@drewsims3823 they STILL are one of a kind.😉
Missing this type of fantastic music brings back Alabama at the Bowery in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina when my Aunt got on the table and started dancing 💃.
Hello 👋 Kath, how are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Joe Michael and I live in Denver Colorado, you seem like a real country girl
Great country music wish country was like this again
+jessie ramer
While Alabama was a country band, this song is beach music.
it is very famously played in Myrtle Beach at the beach bars , where they still shag today
I know just about every thing they are talking about in this song... it is sad that most of the places are just memories now. The spanish galleon is still up in North Myrtle Beach I have never been there but my cousins have
Mollie Smith Oh the Spanish Galleon , I have not thought about that place in years !
I assume it is there still like I have said that whole area has changed drastically. do you remember crazy zacks?
Back when Alabama first came around, saw them in concert several times, todays concerts cost so much more! But I loved them then and still do! Always a fun concert!
This song is so comforting.
This is the Myrtle Beach of my teen years!
Love this song, saw the Movie! It was so much fun to watch but it was on VHS Tape and no longer have a player! Loved this song!
And damn weren't those the days. If only we had a Way Back machine
@@robertforrest9021 You can say that again! I was born in 1953! I am still loving this~ Hope you are well! Enjoy

Is this from a movie? If so, which one? I just got this song stuck in my head after not hearing it for many years.
@@katelynbrown98 I had it on VHS, not sure if on anything else!
STILL JAMMIN in 2020 y'all....never gets old
Me, too!
Some of the best times of my life "Shagging on the Boulevard" on Ocean Boulevard!
Public sex is not legal
I grew up on Ocean Drive.... 💗
@@JessDavis Me too. Born & bred. 😎
Classy dancing, healthy looking kids...love it!!
Right, no fat ass kids here that sit in their closet with their fancy cellphone, checking Facebook every 5 sec,s
@@hunggrapes5532 😂😂 most ppl my age sit in what they call their "depression liars" for days at a time
Alabama hit #3 in Billboard, 9-20-97. No offense meant here, gang, but, God bless! It's how I ALWAYS end my comments. God bless, especially to the Alabama cousins!
one of my favorite alabama songs
this song, this video...just makes me happy
Don't know how I ever missed hearing this song before, or buying it, as I absolutely love Alabama!
Glad you found it. You probably appreciate this song & video even more--now that 25 years have passed!
You got that right
Man i love the fact that i can say that i am from Myrtle Beach,SC (Garden City) and i know all the places. I'm stationed in Norfolk till june and i will have had 6 years in the military so I'll get to return to this legendary boulevard! Anyone who has been there knows that the place has a magic that is totally unique!
Never heard this song before. Great tribute to the way it used to be
Play Tar Top sometime.
This is one of the best country songs I ever heard from this group and I love this song and I love this group
This is "beach music", not country. NMB is home of the Shag.
Love, touch me when we're dancing.
These guys ARE Myrtle Beachs best ambassadors
This song is easy on the ears and good for the heart. Brings me back to my youth.
I miss these guys
I live 30 mins from down town Myrtle..thats where some of my best memories are from, and yes its changed a lot from what it used to be, but is still one of the best places to go all year along.
My family came to MB every summer in the mid 80's-early 90's from West Virginia... It's the last place I saw my Mom before she passed...a piece of my soul will always be there.
This tune just makes me smile and think of summertime every time I listen, year round. It never gets old.
Just a great tune , makes you want to get up and dance !
I still hate that the Pavilion and the rides were torn down - MB just isn't the same as when I was growing up in the 60s, 70s, and 80s when I was young.
I was never in Myrtle Beach but the same is true for most all the great places I grew up with as well! I know life goes on but wish more could be saved. I do when I can however minor.
I was there the beginning of the farewell season!
Kind of why I come to watch this video. I can get a glimpse of when it was a fun, family vacation place. My dad grew up in SC, so we spent a lot of time in MB in the 70s and 80s. Smaller motels that didn't block out the sunlight and mom and pop places that were fun to go in.
Nothing is the same as when we grew up! Younger generation took over! I have to listen to the oldies! I am so glad I grew up when I did! Best music! Best of times until Viet Nam interrupted us! There was music then, but memories of that time, haunt me!
Nothing is the same as when we grew up! I was born in the 50's! I have seen so many changes in music! Love this!
This is such a great song and a great video but are are wondering what the dance the people are doing. Love it and brings back good ole memories. Thanks Alabama
I am 70 years old and not only does this tune just slow everything down a relaxing notch but the words paint such great memories of Myrtle Beach from my high school and college years when all it took was “let’s go to the beach this weekend” to get a group up for the 3 hour drive….and there we were cruising the boulevard. This is my favorite songs of all time because of the way it captures that slice of my life. Many thanks for the memories
Alabama the best band ever. My first concert when i was 12 in 1982!!! Still in love with randy owen!!
We should go back to this time. Look how much fun they're having I love it.
BRINGS BACK AWESOME MEMORIES!!
Another great Alabama song
I LOVE ❤❤ this song!! It's the first song the Love of my life, Richard & I danced to. I couldn't slow dance with anyone except him ☺ Keep dancing honey until I get up there 🙏
Awwwwww bless your heart.. ❤❤❤😇
SALUDOS ❤
🙏
Sure do miss you ole Pavilion and Boardwalk and Sun Fun! Brought tears to my eyes! Thanks Alabama for the memories!
Hello 👋 Gold, how are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Joe Michael and I live in Denver Colorado, you seem like a real country girl
Great song! I used to play this CD when I was on break in clubs..
I was born in 1990 and when I was young, but old enough to remember how it was those were the best times. Myrtle Beach will never be the same and its a shame that the pavilion was closed down, it was a historical landmark and well appreciated and fun place for family. Im glad to say that I was there the last day it was open. I miss the old M.B. so many great times.
Born in the 90's, you will never know exactly what those days were like! They were magical!
I don't know why they close and tear down the places that make the beach so much fun. All they do is put up high rise condos and destroy the soul and history of Myrtle Beach, Panana City, Daytona
The list goes on. The places of our good times and memories. I guess it's called progress but the steal the heart and soul of so many places. My grandkids will never experience dancing, shagging on the boulevard. What a horrible injustice progresd has done to these generations. Love love Alabama song. The were one of the greatest bands. I'm 73 and I miss cruising , the Pavilions , where young people playes the juke box, danced, laughed and met people from all over. No guns just fun.
The memories of MB. I grew up in the 60's, 70's when the beach was the place to be. Met so many girls there every summer. Even got engaged to one. But it did not work out. If only we could turn back the hands of time. This would be my place to be again. Such memories. I even had a Corvette in 71 to cruise the Blvd. Man o man, what times. MB is done now. Never be the same again. So sad.
Love this tune and his voice!
Used to live in MB. Met the love of my life, have beautiful family! Very happy to know the love many have for Myrtle Beach and Alabama
Hello 👋 Carries, how are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Joe Michael and I live in Denver Colorado, you seem like a real country girl
This song and watching this video makes me want to cry. I remember we went to Myrtle Beach every year for vacation as a kid. What I wouldn't give to be able tongo back to those days.
Mark Herndon didn’t play the drums on the recording. He was primarily a live drummer. He did record the drums on their biggest hit Mountain Music but session drummers did record most of the songs.
I live in myrtle beach and so much has changed its crazy, wish they would have keep the pavilion it is so missed
The pavilion was Myrtle Beach's heart, when the tore it down they effectively Murdered Myrtle Beach. I guess the new nickname of Murder Beach is fitting.
The GOAT music video
Wish they would come back to Cincinnati! Saw them several times here back in the day!
I absolutely love this song! Alabama is one of my favorites! Saw them several times back in the 80's in Cincinnati! Tickets were so much cheaper back then!
For us, it was the cruise! This has really brought back memories. Oh, how I miss this time! Thanks, Alabama. I've always loved y'alls music since I was a kid!
When Rivers Ave in North Charleston wasn't happening on a summer cruise, Friday or Saturday night, we'd book up to Myrtle to cruise the boulevard which was always happening. Summerville, where I'm from and Myrtle Beach just aren't the same. '70s and early '80s Myrtle were the best. ✌️
Love this song
There is only ONE ALABAMA, Wish they never gave up the band! They are truly missed!
l was born and raised in MB and worked around the corner from the Bowery one summer. I remember them well as Wild Country and used to get drunk between the Bowery and Duffy's next door almost everyday. I was 18 years old the summer I worked at Ocean Front and I'm 60 now. I knew all those boys back in those days.
Robert Brown Wow...what memories of MB back then! I just went down for 4 days in Sept...friends who live there now tell me it’s not as safe a place to be anymore. I was so saddened to hear that! Went down right after Hurricane Florence. I recalled that I had been down there the year this song came out & a bunch of us were learning a dance that was made up to go with the song so we could go dancing! It looks so built up & totally different than it used to, that I barely had recognized it. I love Alabama’s music. Neat you knew them. Hope that was a great summer for you!
I worked at WYAK from 1977 to 1982. Of course Jeff worked on Sunday mornings at YAK. Spent many a nite at the Bowery. Some of the best times of my life during this time and knowing these guys. We always knew they would make it big but we never knew this big!
useddj Wow! What a great time & isn’t it amazing how big they became?!?! Happy you enjoyed those days! I never knew Jeff was a dj! Pretty cool memories to have! 😃
You have your memories! Treasure them, music will never be the same again!
So what ya doing now?
miss them days love Alabama
I’m from WV. I had my senior trip and honeymoon in Myrtle. One of my favorite places on earth.
