When I listen to Alabama. I think of America, anyone else ??? Not only that. But I think of hard work dedication. The look and feel of a foggy mountain morning. I can’t describe it all. But if you know country. Then you know what I mean.

I kinda compare em to Lynryd Skynryd just the low key, blue jeans and t shirts kinda band that you could see and hear play in some lowly dive on a Saturday night.

Hello from Chicago! I was born and raised here but my parents immigrated here from China. Even being 1st generation here, I can agree with you on this sentiment. We grew up with little and were taught to work hard b/c no one is going to give you anything.
I didn't grow up listening to much music and I only started listening to country a few years ago after a wedding in Nashville. I had no clue I was going to love it so much. The exact moment it clicked was when I was in the middle of a packed bar (ah the pre-corona days) buzzing with a nice beer in hand, when the band struck the first chords of Wagon Wheel and the entire bar erupted. "Holy $#!7 I'm the only guy here that has never heard this song!" LOL. I was hooked.
Something about the simple life and family values along with the melodies really hits home for me. I'm literally listening to this song for the first time ever and it's sooooo good. Looking forward to discovering more classics like this.
Anyways, thanks for posting this for everyone to enjoy.

I'm not an US citizen, I'm from Chile. While I was visiting a beloved Aunt in Santiago back in '92 I saw a beautiful-covered tape, put in an old cassette player, and starten to listen my all time favorite country song "Country Roads", and after a couple of songs ... Dixieland Delight for the first time. From that moment, I fell immediate in love with the song, and when the Internet arrived to Chile for all public in '94, I started to look more information about this song, and it's accurate translation, but Internet was young, poor made websites, and it was almost non-existant. After meeting an old 18-Wheeler driver from Texas ten years later in 2004, NAM Veteran (a friend of my father), I brought the topic to the table, and I finally come to realize the importance of this song to Alabama people. And today, just before knowing about the Russian invasion, searching in UA-cam about this wonderful song I realize how moving and powerful is "Dixieland Delight" to Alabama people, and the rest of US . Nowadays, It's like a National Anthem , and it's played in important Sports Events, and even in Ceremonies. I'm not a rich person, but I hope someday I coud visit the US, and sing that beautiful song in a Big Alabama Stadium!

In 1982 on the Mountain Music tour I met drummer Mark Herndon during a break of the band playing softball 🥎 against the local radio station DJ’s. I was a beginning drummer and asked him how to play the fast part on Mountain Music. He showed me with his hands on his legs explaining it was a paradiddle-diddle between the kick and snare 🥁. He said to learn it slowly listening to Ride the Train from the Feels So Right album. I’ll never forget how kind he was to a young drummer and a total stranger! I’ll always love the Alabama band!

My middle daughter, Randi, was a tiny baby. Jeff Cook scooped her up from my wife and carried her around showing everyone a baby girl named Randi. Splendid music Southern bread Northern fed. Put multitasking at all but kicking the sander on a bonfire it's my forefathers in me because I looked down at my feet once upon a Time in late 70 and said what am I doing and what am I up to and I was doing a little hop here and a lot of hot air and I swear to goodness it was my forefathers mothers alive and me at that moment ♥️

Alabama is hands down the greatest band in country music and one of the greatest artists in country music history. Do you know if you can find the video of them performing “Deep River Woman” with Lionel Richie on the 1986 CMA awards show? Or just the whole awards show in general? Thanks.

    • @CAPTJACKRACKHAMZGM
      @CAPTJACKRACKHAMZGM  4 роки тому

I Have not searched for that performance. I would expect that the whole awards show would be posted. There are several Video hosting sites that you might want to check. UpLoad Society, Metacafe, Internet Archive, Etc. There are a Dozen or more of these Video Hosting Sites. Some of them are European in origin. Google, Bing, & Yahoo are not the only search engines out there either. I have done what I thought were exhaustive searches for specific things. Just about the time I am ready to give up I find what I am looking for. Good Luck.

Well Sam....I Have Given Your Statement some thought. I can Tell you that it was a Great Time. I have Seen Alabama 3 Times. They were this Good Consistently.. When you see episodes of "That 70'S Show". That Was Exactly how we were. Old Timers have the phrase...."Those were the good old days." And yes they were. As the Decades have passed by for me I have said it as well. Fear Not....your generation will have it's own marks of Accomplishment. You too will Look back some day just like most Old Timers you will repeat that familiar phrase. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Facts
I grew up in Jersey 70,s and 80’s
No offense, but it was the greatest place on earth it’s not up for debate
Once the 90’s rolled around and I was a young man I should have trail blaze my way down to Kentucky, Tennessee land
Biggest mistake I ever made not going down w you guys down there in heaven
NOW jersey is the ARMPIT of the world and that’s not up for debate either
    I’d a been a mighty fine country man !!!

He Left the Band at Some point Prior to the Release of 41. In Reality he was a Rock & Roll Drummer. Not Sure But I suspect that he was a Session/Studio Drummer Prior to Joining Alabama. Probably Contracted by RCA. Why he Left, I am not Sure unless he Fulfilled his Contact, and no Longer wished to Remain. I have never Looked into it, but I am Sure that the Story is Out there Somewhere. Thanks for watching.
