Hi Jane. After 5 weeks post op total knee replacement surgery I'm walking on my own. Almost no pain. So thankful. I wish you the best. Paula from Texas
I have been watching all your videos --- getting ready to see if the shots will work for me. If not, I will have to have surgery and rewatch all your vids again. I am inspired by you and the manner in which you have held up under all of this journey. You have reminded me that Bravery Comes At A Price.
Thank you so much Jack. It has been (and still is) an extremely hard journey but messages like yours keep me going. It’s so good to know I am helping and inspiring people like you. Good luck and try and stay away from surgery if you possibly can. 😊 Thank you again for your message and for subscribing.
Hey Jane, I don’t have the words to express how sorry I am that you are going through this. I will be very interested to find our what the new surgeon says. Still can’t believe the first one discharged you so quickly. I was so unhappy with my knee, but compared to yours, and the fact that we had our surgeries on the same day, I am doing amazing! Lol. My sideways X-ray looks like yours except for the void beneath the implant, not sure what that means, but I know I would be concerned about it. Also you scar is quite thick along its entire length, mine is thick in a couple of spots. I really hope you can get some answers and a conclusion to this journey in the not too distant future. Keep on with the vlogs. I am thinking of you and wishing you well Jane. 😘😘
Thank you Rita. You are doing amazing so keep going!! I am very pleased for you. I will definitely keep you posted on my appointments coming up in August. Thanks so much and take care 😘x
Praying for an answer for you! I’m about 7-8 weeks from my TKR and 1 week from a manipulation. I can straighten the leg but can’t bend it more than 100 to 110. Very painful and no sleep also. At 70 years old I’m ready to accept that this is it for me. No additional procedures for me. My Dr, who is excellent, said my case is maybe one out of 100 that he sees. The condition of my knee and the muscle prior to surgery makes healing more problematic. He says if I should decide to do the other knee most likely the same thing will happen. I pray you find relief soon!!
Thank you so much Elizabeth. It sounds like you are suffering too. I am now seeing a very good pain management doctor and I have been put on Buprenorphine and Amiltriptyline so I am coping a bit better now and waiting for my date for the biopsy to see if it is infected and my second MUA. I send you my best wishes and urge you to see a pain management doctor to help you. Take care 😊😘
thanks for the update jane this is a bit depressing you have had a rough deal i really hope the new surgeon can give a clear explanation of exactly what is going on with your knee
I would see a solicitor Jane. If the surgeon has drilled a hole which is too big then that is medical negligence. A solicitor who specialises in medical negligence would ensure that you were seen by another consultant who would give an independent appraisal. Your surgeon is not going to admit any wrong doing. The solicitor would arrange for any corrective work to be done privately by a really good surgeon. Manty solicitors will take on a no win ne fee basis. If its negligence and you have suffered for so long then you need to be compensated. Plus if the surgeon you had is drilling holes too big then other people are going to suffer. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you it must be very hard to deal with.
Now you’ve got me thinking, thank you so much for your advice. I’m going to get a second opinion on 17th August but I may also take your advice. Thank you. 😊
Jane . I am 63 and my surgeon recommended TKR since my leg is crooked and with arthritis. However, It does not hurt when I sit , nor when I sleep and a little when I walk. I can go up and down stairs fine. I am debating wether I should do this. Only reason I am leaning towards doing this is the leg is crooked. Just would hate to do this and be worst off. Any advice?
Hi Claudio and thanks for reaching out. I would really consider putting it off as there is a very good chance you would end up with more pain after the op than you have now. I really don’t want my story to put you off as I think I have just been unlucky with the way my body has reacted to this op and there are many people who have amazing results but I have seen many physios and surgeons who have all said that it’s much better to have your own joint rather than a prosthetic one. I would recommend waiting until the pain affects your life unless the fact that it is crooked is so bad that you want to do something about it. I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to message me. Good luck and take care. 😊
Hi Jane is this video before your Mua when you went back to work? I am in the same position as you, max flex of 90 degrees despite using a STAK device every day. I am also suffering low mood and feeling 'why I have done this?'
Hi Malcolm. Thank you so much for your message and I’m sorry to hear you are feeling like this. I’ve had two MUAs. The first was 10 weeks after the knee replacement and the second was 10 months after the replacement. In my case my lack of movement is due to arthrofibrosis which is the build up of scar tissue. How long is it since your surgery and have you been offered a MUA?
@@janeskneereplacementjourney Jane 17 weeks post op and mua is now being discussed. The physio mentioned arthrofibrosis at our last appointment. I'm also diabetic and apparently diabetics are more prone to this wish I had known this before the op!
@@malcolmdickson7116 I totally agree Malcolm. It’s 2 and a half years since my replacement and it’s been a constant battle and I’m back in hospital on Thursday having radio frequency treatment on the nerves so I’m hoping to feel less pain. 🙏🏻🤞🏻 I would say go ahead with the MUA as it’s not anywhere near as bad as you think and it improves the range immediately. Hire a CPM machine for after the procedure to keep it moving and to keep the scar tissue away. Another thing which has really helped me is swimming and aqua aerobics. I wish you lots of luck and I’m here if I can help with any further questions you may have Malcolm. Take care.
