WHAT A COMEBACK JANE!!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
So inspirational you should go viral!!!!! Give this girl some attention‼️‼️‼️‼️
Great video Jane. What a painful journey, well done for getting through it. You’re a trooper!!
Thank you Rosen. 😊
That certainly was some journey Jane. However you were not alone as my wife and I followed you all the way through via your uploads. There were many dark days and a few good ones too, along the way. But you kept a smile on your face and that should be a great help and comfort to those people who log onto your uploads prior to their own knee surgeries. For some reason you were the woman who was destined to have quite a few problems along the way. But we always remember you managing to smile in most of your blogs which was a credit to you considering you underwent so many surgeries. I have now had both of my knees replaced and am very pleased with them. Just grateful we only have 2 legs. Best wishes from us Jane and a nice upload. We hope you go from strength to strength
Thank you soooo much for your wonderful message. 🙏🏻 I thank you and your wife for such supportive messages all the way through, it was people like you that helped me through and made me smile. 😊 I’m so pleased you have two good knees now and I hope you are making the most of them. Best wishes to the both of you. 😘
Very interesting video. I am going in for a total knee replacement in 10 days time. Wish me luck..
You will be absolutely fine Richard and I’m sending you lots of luck. 🍀🙏🏻
Thank you.
Do i take it your knee replacement experience, was the exception rather than the rule , you seem to have had a few unfortunate issues. I am 73, but have no illusions it’s not going to be easy. My hopes are by 3 months i should be on the up. Hopefully!
@@richarddickson3211 Yes, please don’t worry. My experience has been harder due to a condition called arthrofibrosis which means I produce too much scar tissue. I’m sure your goal of 3 months is achievable and I wish you all the luck. Please let me know how you get on.
It's great that this pain management is available.
Thank you for this update. It's helping me to be prepared for what's ahead. I hope you improve greatly as the days move on.
Good luck Angela. 😊
MUA??
Manipulation under Anaesthetic.
Where did you rented the cam machine from
Good morning. I rented it from Phoenix Healthcare and I would recommend them, click on the link below. And good luck. 🤞🏻 www.phoenix-healthcare.co.uk/content/1/cpm-hire?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkBXEuMQewKQFuKtjIIFWs68ewfovVkNiikv3a5kyLRtmJhVUGtnz4oaAiebEALw_wcB
woohoo good video, 17th liker
I had a lot of swelling. My home Therapist worked hard to lessen it. And that was a turning point. Started driving again after two weeks. Walking without assistance but take my cane with when I go out. 😮. Keep working ! Good luck
Hi Donald. It sounds like you’ve done really well. 🙏🏻👏 I’m 3 years post op now and I’m still working hard!! There are many more videos on my channel about my journey. Thanks so much for your message.
They do it cheap over there, I had both done & the stitches was below the skin that dissolved the line running down my leg is barely noticeable, of course this is the USA.
tore my quads in October and had an operation in November. I go to PT and they bend my knee till I scream in pain. They said I got to 70 but the surgeon said I was only around 30 and I will need a MUA. I am worried about the pain being as bad as when they push my leg and I scream. I have even tried to take oxicodone while at PT. and it still hurts real bad. My knee is stiff and hard but I am now out of the brace and using a cane. I also got blood clots in my lungs 2 days after the operation and am on blood thinners. I am worried about the MUA and what the pain will be like.
Hi Jeff and thank you for reaching out. Please let me reassure you that it will be nowhere near as bad as you think. You will be under General Anaesthetic when they do the procedure and when you wake up, it’s like a miracle has happened and your knee will feel much looser than before. My biggest piece of advice is to hire a CPM machine as the challenge is to keep it moving to maintain the new range. It means you still need to do all your exercises but when you want to rest/relax you go on the CPM machine. Good luck and don’t hesitate to ask any further questions.
@@janeskneereplacementjourney I am having second thoughts about a MUA I don't want to go through weeks of pain and then more pain in PT. I am trying to push it at home it just gets so hard and tight. I do feel like it helps though.
Great news Jane! Stay positive.
Thank you!! ☺️
Hello Jane! It’s been 2 years since my TKR. I have to say the first year wasn’t the most pleasant. But this last year as so much more improved. I am able to kneel and can bend about 125 degrees. I have found out part 0:03 of the cause of the swelling in my lower leg is from an incompetent saphenous vein. I’ll be having a procedure on that in a few weeks. I am planning on having my right knee replaced this year. I wish you all the very best and that you continue doing better. 👍🏼
Thanks so much Cheryl. It sounds like you’re doing really well. Good luck with your procedure in a couple of weeks and the right knee. 🙏🏻🤞🏻☺️
Thank you so much Carol. 😚 It’s a long battle but I’m happy that you’re pleased you had it done. Stay positive and strong and I wish you all the best. 😘
My knee birthday is 3 years old in 1 week. My knee still is quite swollen, especially first thing in the morning. I walk okay, but still going up the stairs is a little painful. Glad that I did have it done. Nice to see your post and how well you are getting on. I was hoping it wasn't bad news. Thanks for your post and keep doing great. Carol from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
My wife and I have followed your long journey all the way through. Oh what a difference in seeing you now as compared to some previous times when you were at a very low ebb. Good for you Jane, things are now looking much better and with the spring and summer soon coming your timing is perfect. So here's to your soon being completely pain free and having a very enjoyable future. Regards and best wishes from us both.
Thank you both so much. You have supported me throughout and always sent such positive and amazing messages and I can’t tell you how much that means to me. 😊 I hope you are both well yourselves and thank you again for your support. 🤗😘
Very good 👍 👍 👍 👍
I had the Genicular nerve ablation prior to my tkr. It helped for close to 2 years. I'm wondering what led you to surgery? You seem so young. Aquatic classes help me a lot. I'm 115 degrees at 10 weeks with a "lot" of self work but 110 is a functional level so I'm happy. I'm 67 and overweight so will just keep working at it.
Wow, 2 years?!?! I really hope I get relief for two years. 🤞🏻 I had an accident in 2011 when I fractured my patella. I have also played tennis since the age of 8 so I had a lot of wear and tear so I thought a TKR would sort out all my problems. How wrong I was. It sounds like you are doing really well so keep going. 😊😘🙏🏻
I would love to know what your outcome is 2 years later❤
I guess you saw my more recent vlog! It’s such a battle. 🥲🥰😘
That's so amazing! Sending you hugs xx
Thank you so much. 🥰xx
Keep watching the videos as this was a while ago and my journey has taken many twists and turns since then. xx
It’s lovely to see you and it sounds so positive. Please keep posting.
Thank you Rosen.
Hi Jane, Good to hear from you. A positive update. I had my 2nd TKR 4 weeks ago. Dr is talking about an MUA because of not enough bend. 😢
Good morning, it’s lovely to hear from you. I’m so sorry to hear your second knee is giving you difficulties. You know I’ve had two MUAs and it’s really not as bad as you expect and the results are instant. My advice would be to hire a CPM machine immediately after the procedure to maintain the range of movement. Good luck and I’m here if you need me. 🙏🏻😊
Hi Jane nice to hear from you
Thank you Patricia, I hope you are doing well. 😊😘
Nice to see you again, have been wondering how you were
Thank you Susan ☺️
Hi Jane, I was wondering how you were getting on. So pleased that you are feeling a lot more positive. You have certainly gone through so much. Fingers crossed that this makes your pain more manageable and lasts longer. Look forward to your next update, take care xx
Thank you so much Paula. 🙏🏻🥰😘
So so nice to see you back with your updates Jane. My wife and I followed you journey throughout and then we seemed to have lost you. I did write on a couple your previous posts in an effort to get an update. Yours is a journey with enough highs and lows to put into book form! But it is so good to see that although you still may have a way to go, your life is full and you continue to enjoy a walk and swimming. Good for you. We imagine that you now have so much knowledge in the field of knee replacements, you could start your own consultancy. I had my second TRKR 4th August this year and it has been really hard. My first TLKR was a dream and I was cycling with my wife out on picnics 6 weeks after that surgery. For some reason this time not so good. People don't believe me when I tell them I have not had a single full nights sleep since the surgery, but it's the truth. Never mind we must keep on keeping on and as the song says: "Things can only get better" Really nice to see your blog again Jane. Wishing you all the best for the future from my wife and I.
Thank you so much for your lovely message! 😊 Your messages have always been so wonderful and I thank you and your wife for your support. You are probably right, I could write a book with everything I have been through and learnt! I’m really sorry to hear your second replacement has been so much harder than your first and really hope it improves soon. If you need any advice, you know you can message me any time!! Take care and I’m sending all my best wishes to you and your wife. ☺️🙏🏻
I hear this a lot from people. The 2nd one isn't as good. Also with hip replacements. You would think we know what to expect and what to do it should be easier.
Hey Jane I just happened to be on line when your post popped up. What a journey you have had. We had our surgeries done on the same day, Jan 26th 2021! I am still frustrated by mine, had a couple of falls as it didn’t bend enough going down stairs, etc. but nothing like you have been through., my best friend had hers done two weeks ago and is already at 90 degrees of bend, still has her stitches in. It seems to be different for everyone. I read that 25% of knee replacement recipients are unhappy with the result, I think that is a huge number. I have no idea why. Anyway, I am very happy that you are off the pain patches now, that in itself is a huge step. May you continue to improve, as you say it is a daily battle. Please keep the updates coming. Great to hear from you ❤️
Oh it’s so lovely to hear from you Rita!! I totally agree that going down the stairs is so tough and I’m sorry to hear you’ve fallen. It does seem so different for everyone and I wish the rate of success was higher. I will try to keep the updates coming and please take care Rita. 😊🥰🙏🏻
Hi Jane is this video before your Mua when you went back to work? I am in the same position as you, max flex of 90 degrees despite using a STAK device every day. I am also suffering low mood and feeling 'why I have done this?'
Hi Malcolm. Thank you so much for your message and I’m sorry to hear you are feeling like this. I’ve had two MUAs. The first was 10 weeks after the knee replacement and the second was 10 months after the replacement. In my case my lack of movement is due to arthrofibrosis which is the build up of scar tissue. How long is it since your surgery and have you been offered a MUA?
@@janeskneereplacementjourney Jane 17 weeks post op and mua is now being discussed. The physio mentioned arthrofibrosis at our last appointment. I'm also diabetic and apparently diabetics are more prone to this wish I had known this before the op!
@@malcolmdickson7116 I totally agree Malcolm. It’s 2 and a half years since my replacement and it’s been a constant battle and I’m back in hospital on Thursday having radio frequency treatment on the nerves so I’m hoping to feel less pain. 🙏🏻🤞🏻 I would say go ahead with the MUA as it’s not anywhere near as bad as you think and it improves the range immediately. Hire a CPM machine for after the procedure to keep it moving and to keep the scar tissue away. Another thing which has really helped me is swimming and aqua aerobics. I wish you lots of luck and I’m here if I can help with any further questions you may have Malcolm. Take care.
Hello Jane. A long time since I posted the last message below and we really wanted to know (around a year later) how you are doing. My wife and I followed your very difficult time throughout. It would be nice to know how things are with you now. Regards
This video was two years ago how is your knee doing now ? Are u back to normal ? Are u walking good now ?
Hi and thank you for your message! Unfortunately I still have pain and I have to constantly “manage” my life around my knee. If I do too much it hurts and if I do too little it hurts!! I find 3 aqua aerobic classes with a bit of swimming and walking is about right. I’m off the medication because I had radio frequency treatment in my spine to cut off the nerve but it is a short term fix. I had it done in March and I’m currently on the waitlist to have it done again. Most of the time I am able to walk without a limp though so I am grateful for that. 😊
@@janeskneereplacementjourney oh no sorry to hear that . I’m contemplating knee replacement my self. My problem is I lost the flexibility/ motion on my right knee so when I walk it doesn’t bends. It stays lock . It’s a crazy thing . But when I sit it does bend tho . Not all the way through tho. So I’m just watching videos of people journeys and it doesn’t really push me to want to get it done .. lol . Hope it works out for you . Best wishes to u 😊
Jane, how are you now? let us know, we miss you and hope all is well with you. Best of luck and be happy always.
Oh thank you so much for asking. I really should do an updated vlog but I’m out of practice now!! I’m happy to say I’m finally on a better path and managed to get off the morphine in March after having radio frequency treatment in my spine on the nerves going to my knee. I’m swimming and doing aqua aerobics 3 times a week which really helps and my range has improved to 3 - 100 and I’m happy with that. 😊 I would say I now have aching rather than draining pain and just take ibruprofen as and when I need. So all in all a much better situation for me and I hope you are well too. 🙏🏻 Thanks again and take care. 😊😚
@@janeskneereplacementjourney so glad to know you are getting better, you are such a nice lady and you deserve a happy life. Keep on the good work and be happy always. God bless you.
@@lj9093 Thank you so much, that means the world. 😊😘
You are the first person who mentioned loss of appetite. I watched a bunch of videos before and after my knee replacement. I’m 51 days out from mine and still just don’t feel hungry most days. At least I am not the only one. I see this is an old post, so I hope you are well and have it all behind you now. 😊
Hi Deborah. Thanks so much for getting in touch!! Yes the loss of appetite is definitely a thing which I think was down to the medication. I’m almost two and a half years post op now and I’ve only been off the pain killers since March!! I’m sure you are over the worst bit now so persevere and take every day as it comes. Good luck and take care. 😘
@@janeskneereplacementjourney Thanks, that gives me hope. ❤️
Hi, What exercycle did you get?
Hi and thank you for you question. I just had a very basic one like this. …. www.amazon.co.uk/AGM-Exerciser-Adjustable-Resistance-Training/dp/B07HCD37WJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?adgrpid=126324798868&hvadid=498402496986&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9044988&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=1061794470338086313&hvtargid=kwd-296291735459&hydadcr=14114_1722346&keywords=mini+pedal+exerciser&qid=1687029597&sr=8-4
So Jane how is your knee journey going? I am now 15 months from my TKR. I am pain free, though still stiff. I can kneel on my knee, though it feels very very strange. I am going to have my other knee done probably in the fall of this year. I am experiencing quite a bit of pain and difficulty climbing stairs. I certainly hope you are doing well.
Hi Cheryl, so lovely to hear from you! It’s great to hear you are pain free and you’ve done the right thing waiting to have your other knee done. Stairs and stiffness are still a problem for me and I’m not lucky enough to say I’m pain free. I had nerve block treatment in March which has helped take some of the pain away but the problem with living in London is it’s cold and my knee hates it!! I’ve just recently been to Thailand and my knee was so much better there I think I need to emigrate!! The only thing I can suggest Cheryl is this superdose collagen : collagensuperdose.com/uk_uk/superdose-joint?gclid=CjwKCAjwuqiiBhBtEiwATgvixNfogx_jMyQEEw0o9_f1rAFnB6hgwOvIuDjn72Mx7lalp9sPKv7ehhoCgPgQAvD_BwE I definitely feel it helps with stiffness so maybe it’s worth a try. I wish you the best of luck for the next one and please let me know how it goes. 😘
Finally, searched for the channel! Glad you've found an activity that you like and one that will definitely help with regards to range of motion. Aqua really is for everyone - improving posture, balance, coordination, muscular strength and endurance and the core 👍
Ty so much for your journey on your knee progress. I'm a delicate flower too but I have constant chronic pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. I'm going in next month for my first knee replacement and I'm so worried about the recovery 😮 I've also got a fractured pelvis that's been healing since Jan I have osteoporosis and I'm only 58 ha ha. Oh my!
Wow, it sounds like you’re really going through it. Good luck for the replacement next month and don’t let my problems worry you, I’ve just been unlucky to have arthrofibrosis. Listen to the physios and I’m sure you’re going to do well. Take care. 🙏🏻
@@janeskneereplacementjourney Hey Jane, your journey has only mirrored mine 🪞. If anything it is giving me the encouragement to know I'm not the only one going through so much at once. I hope you will feel 💯 again soon 😊🤗🌺
@@toryberch thanks so much Tory. I really hope your surgery goes well. 😊🙏🏻
I’m probably having this done next Friday…Not at all looking forward to it. I’ll update you on my progress. I have roughly 110-115 degrees of movement but my leg is always stiff. Btw, I don’t blame the surgeon, he’s one of the best, it’s just my physiology.
Hey Jane, been thinking about you and wondering how your journey is going. Hopefully there has been more improvement in your flexion since you last posted. Did you manage to continue with aqua aerobics? I am still around 90 degrees, and still feel very frustrated by the lack of bend. A few weeks ago I felt a snap in my knee, which was really painful, but once the pain subsided after a couple of days, I wasn’t in pain at all.. I can only think I broke some scar tissue which was causing a lot of pain.. so that has been a big help. We are both coming up on our two year anniversary on 26th of the month. If I had to do it again, I would definitely go into rehab for my recovery, because of covid, I think a window had started to close before I started Physio. Water under the bridge now. Anyway hope you are well and working and enjoying life again. Best wishes Rita ❤
Hey Rita, it’s so good to hear from you!! 😊 I’ve said I’m going to post an update but never seem to get round to it!! Can you believe it’s almost 2 years??!! I’m happy with my improvement but continue to get pain. 😩 I have joined a gym and do 3 swims and 3 aqua aerobics sessions every week so I’m building the muscle which really helps and I would say my ROM is now 3 - 100 degrees which is amazing. I’m still on the Buprenorphine patches and Amitriptyline but the pain never goes away. I’m so happy that your pain has subsided a bit but I didn’t like the thought of it snapping!! 🙈 That must have been scary Rita and shame it didn’t improve the bend. I still find going down stairs the hardest thing to do. My pain doctor still wants to do the radio frequency treatment to my nerves so I’m back on the list for that but if it turns out my pain is mechanical, it’s not going to make any difference. I’ll be thinking of you on the 26th and thanks again for your message, we must never stop updating each other!! Take care. ❤️xx
I can tell you I skipped knee replacement. I had 3 plasma injections that cost me 2400$ and they have worked superbly. The first was great the second didn’t really kick in but the third after 2 weeks allowed me to walk and go up and down stairs with no issues. Been 6 months since the last injection and so far so good no swelling and no pain. This type of procedure is supposed to help soothe the arthritis with some healing to the arthritis bone on bone area. At least that’s the theory. I just didn’t want to go thru the rehabilitation that sometimes doesn’t go well and takes months to heal with TKR. Good luck to you I am sure you will reach a point that it was well worth it. Ps I am 64 in decent shape physically and it helps to lose some weight to take some pressure off the knees.
Hi Jane. I am so so glad I found your channel, and to realise I am not on my own. I am 46 and had a partial knee replacement (long history of knee problems after I broke it skiing 13 years ago) in my right knee 6 weeks ago. I can only get to 50 degrees bend so I am having an MUA on the 28th. I’m terrified. I woke up after my op in so much pain. The nurses were amazing and finally got on top of it at 5.30am (my op was at 2pm). I have a 6year old and a 4 year old to look after which is incredibly difficult. I’m not sleeping so life is not a lot of fun right now. I tried driving a couple of days ago. It was excruciating just trying to get my leg in the car and driving was impossible. I sat sobbing (I’m desperate to do the school run again). Anyway… your journey is inspiring. I’m so so pleased you are finally back to feeling like yourself. I really hope you get back to tennis. I love tennis and am really missing it. I’m hoping I can play in the spring but perhaps I am too optimistic. You have made me realise just how important the pain killers are and that I have to be very strict with the physio for the next 3 months. Greece looked amazing. We are due to go on holiday in February so I am praying I can bend my knee enough to be able to sit on an aeroplane for 4 hours! Take care and thanks again x
Dear Kathryn. Thank you so much for your message, this is exactly why I made this channel as it gives me so much pleasure to know I am helping you in some way. Please don’t feel like you’re on your own because you’re not. I can identify exactly what you are feeling and I really want to reassure you that MUAs aren’t nearly as bad as you think and your knee will feel much looser by dinner time on the 28th, the results are instant. My problem was keeping the ROM after the MUA and I really recommend hiring a CPM machine to help with that. Pain management is so important and the lack of sleep makes everything feel so much worse so I used to give up, get up and do some exercises and then try to sleep again. It used to help clear my mind and I also used to treat myself to tea and biscuits so that I could take more painkillers. It must be so incredibly hard when you have two small kids so I really hope you have lots of family support. 🙏🏻 I promise things will get better for you but you have to put in the hard work. Since my holiday in Greece I now swim 3 times a week and do 2 aqua aerobics 45 min sessions which are really helping but I have been fighting this battle for a long time so I hope your situation improves quickly. 🤞🏻 Try not to let the worry of the MUA ruin your Christmas because you’re going to be fine (if you haven’t already, watch my blogs on my MUAs) and make the most of Christmas with your little ones. Please keep in touch and I’m always here if you need me. Please take care xx
Hey haven't seen you for a while how are you doing ?
I've been told the pain for the first week is twice as bad as the surgery, is that correct.
Hi, thanks for your message. If you mean the pain after the TKR, yes!! The first couple of weeks is a blur because you’re on so many painkillers, I was feeling sick too and had very little movement so trying to do any exercises is very hard. 😖 If you mean after the MUA it wasn’t bad at all. My knee felt so much looser and I instantly had more movement. I expected a lot of bruising and pain but there really wasn’t any. I hope this helps and good luck if you are about to have a knee op! 🤞🏻🙏🏻
Lovely filming, setting, girl! Your bit of dance says it all .... what a long haul ! But on the real up&up now... go well , even when it's down to Earth ..
Thank you Pauline. 😊😘
You look wonderful! I just tarted back to work after being off for 6 months after TKA. While swelling remains an issue, I am doing so much better. In fact , I am seriously thinking of getting the other knee done sooner than I thought I would. Best wishes to you !
Thank you so much Cheryl. I’m so happy for you too and well done for returning to work. You are very brave to consider going through it again so soon and I wish you all the best. 😊😘
So glad to see your sweet smile again , it must be a lovely holiday. You deserve it. Keep it up and don’t give up, you’ll be totally fine and fully recovered. 👍👍💪💪
