Three biggest mistakes this movie made: 1) Wasted Taskmaster 2) Underused David Harbour 3) Just couldn't resist and made the villain some sort of shadow puppeteer living in a floating sky castle secretly controlling the world when it would have been perfectly fine if he was just an asshole abducting and training children to be assassins for money.

Sounds like they wasted Taskmaster. I had a feeling that they would reveal her as a female and I really think those twists are so cheap these days. From what I’ve seen, he doesn’t seem like the type of villain that should be connected to any of the characters through some past plot. He’s an interesting mercenary/recurring villain that has cool skills and I wish they would’ve made him more comic-accurate. Just want to clarify that I haven’t seen the movie yet, I got nosey and listened to the spoilers, so my opinion might change when I actually see how they handled the character. This is all my opinion only from what I’ve heard. It just sounded to me like having taskmaster revealed as this little girl with a vendetta takes away the creepy and intimidating factor that I always felt when I used to see taskmaster, but that might change when I see the movie.
Took the words right out of my mouth, Task Master had so much potential that was wasted. Also don't you think it would be more interesting if She wasn't being controlled and was just trying to get revenge on Black widow or something like that?
Well in the original comics, Taskmaster was the director of the Red Room and someone who trained Natasha personally. When she destroyed the Red Room, she pissed off Taskmaster so much because he made a lot of money out of it, so he went out of his way to hunt down Natasha for some payback. He believed he killed her but she faked her death so she could lay low for awhile till she could come back as an Avenger for protection and Taskmaster thought he made her pay enough so he just let his grudge against her go. She still had a huge vendetta against him for brainwashing so many and turning her into a weapon... but she just eventually let it go as time went by. There isn't really much there to build upon and the change while disappointing, was likely inevitable.
@Devin C yeah how would you feel if you're favorite character drastically changed to the point they are no longer the same character besides name... yeah me too.
Because Kevin Feige is more worried about diversity and inclusion. He’s already said he regrets casting Tilda Swindon as the ancient one. If this movie came out a few years ago it would’ve been great but Kevin Feige will ruin phase 4. His plan is to genderbend and racebend pretty much every character. We already know Lady Thor , She hulk, and iron heart are coming. The “falcon” series race bended captain America. The Loki series genderbended Loki subtly. The “What If” series subtly did it by racebending star lord and gender bending captain America. And Eternals has pretty much gender bended and race bended almost every character from the og comic. I make those example to show where his head is at because I have no problem with diversity but I do have a problem with putting it over good story writing. Phase 4 WILL be a disappointment, Think game of thrones mixed with ghostbusters.

Taskmaster, he basically has a photographic memory that lets him memorize the fighting style of those he fights with, a badass assassin, mimics voices, the dude just has a long list of kickass abilities and could have been used in a big way, and of course marvel piles it together as the garbage it is in the movie, taskmaster was one of my favorites in the comics as he posed such a big threat.
That was the biggest problem with the movie. They could have introduced the character and had a stronger connection to the comic character. This was a relabeled character.

It's super disappointing because they want to show female empowerment but it seems like so few studios actually know how to write female characters. As a girl, I don't feel empowered because everyone is a girl, or because the bad guy is some gross sex offender creep. The more you try to shove that female empowerment into the movie, the less actual female empowerment there is. JUST WRITE A NORMAL MOVIE. Just make good characters that are relatable and go through shit but push through. Have Natasha get fucked up, be broken down, lose everything but then pull through by the end. She doesn't need to save the world. She doesn't need to "not need no man". She needs to have conflict, go through a low point, and find a way through it. This is a little nitpick but at the end, when Natasha took off Taskmaster’s helmet, I was kind of hoping Dreykov’s daughter wouldn’t care and would knock her down and put the helmet back on. Then Yelena and Natasha could have fought her and we’d presumably still have a villainous Taskmaster for later in the MCU.
Taskmaster is definitely a shell of “himself” in this movie. The comic book character has much more personality and substance. This was a weaker attempt when it comes to the personal aspect of the character. The gender swap was expected but shouldn’t have been necessary. I feel this isn’t the real Taskmaster.
Honestly the real twist would have been if taskmaster turned out to be a man Even in the 90s and 2000s, before the trend of gendeswapping everyone, if you had a new masked secondary character in a story, you can bet a million dollars that the "twist" Is that it's actually a woman.

In a movies with multiple "turn off your brain" moments, the 50cal vs chopper bit was the most blatant for me. You have a tower next to the avalanche mountain. What is it guarding? A prison of people (that shouldn't need 50 cal to stop) or a vertical mountainside (that shouldn't care). Unless you were planning to rappel a tank down that mountain, what is normally about that needs a 50 cal (don't say helicopter). He then fires it at a beat-up helicopter, but only hits selected parts of the middle when he should have turned it into cheese. It never occurs to the guard to shoot the front (pilot), back (fuel) or middle (rocket launcher). Oddly specific of him. And where did that rocket launcher come from? I don't remember a set up for it. Is it "get a free rocket launcher with any bought/borrowed helicopter. Today only!" And all of that is without the "guards forgot to keep shooting it with their own guns" bit. Fun popcorn movie, but makes no damn sense if you try to think about it.

We know he had at least one mission before he was put in prison by SHIELD/Hydra, but maybe he had several more before then, and on one he was in russia and fought with Red Guardian?
Except it isn't a prequel? They spend a title sequence and five opening minutes establishing her back story as an orphan selected to become a Russian sleeper spy agent. Then the rest of the movie is basically her story following the Civil War events.

Florence Pugh as Yelena was the best thing about this movie in my opinion. Didn't care that they gender swapped Taskmaster but they still could've done so much with that character but they wasted it. Overall, film was alright. Now onto Spidey: No Way Home and Doctor Strange 2.
Super annoyed how much they wasted Taskmaster in this movie, I don't really mind the fact that it was a female, since this is a different version of earth, but the design of Taskmaster's suit was just laughably bad, helmet didn't look like a skull at all not even close, they should have tried to "mimic" the appearance of Taskmaster from Spiderman PS4 where he looked like a badass merc, also the fight scenes with Taskmaster were pretty bad (except for the first one that was great) compared to most of the other ones in the movie, especially Natasha v Taskmaster that was so obviously rushed because of runtime restrictions.
It was a completely sexest film. All the men either die or are made a joke of or are belittled. All the women survive or have a tragic emotional death. Just make a good film, stop with the agendas
10:54 the argument "they don't trust eachother, that's why they fight" is pretty dumb. If they don't trust eachother why did Illana send the vials to Natasha in the first place? Lmao
Other Joe glossed over it, but you guys have no idea how much the avalanche killing all the prisoners being waved off bugs me. This literally takes place right after Civil War. This would be a HUGE issue for Natasha after the Sokovia Accords, realizing that because of her sisters actions a lot of people lost their lives. She doesn't even acknowledge it.
No? They stuck to the character design. They show you Taskmaster watching fights And then Taskmaster has shield like Captain America. Claws like Black Panther. Lmao
The one issue I've always had with Marvel are the weak villains who seem to get weaker throughout the movie. Thanos in Inifinity War was great but aside from that, almost all MCU movies have had a very weak villain who gets one-shotted by the heroes most of the time.

I just watched this movie again and I’m totally convinced that this was originally written as a prequel story about how black widow took down the red room. Everything about the movie as it is now, seems like they tacked the beginning and end on, changed it to after civil war and then split the widow role into two parts. One part being yelena, and one part being Natasha. Everything that motivates this story emotionally is set in Yelena and very little attention is actually paid to justifying natasha’s actions with her family and going back to the red room. They never really sell her guilt, or explain why she feels she most resolve the red room issue while she’s on the run.
Three biggest mistakes this movie made:
1) Wasted Taskmaster

3) Just couldn't resist and made the villain some sort of shadow puppeteer living in a floating sky castle secretly controlling the world when it would have been perfectly fine if he was just an asshole abducting and training children to be assassins for money.

Tony Masters reveals why he's been doing this. Years ago Tony's sister was out with her daughter when an explosion happen. Killing his sister and putting Tony's niece in the hospital. She needing severe medical treatment. The explosion was caused by a black widow agent. At time it was Natasha's mission for KGB however when she refused another black Willow agent did it in her place. While Nat stood by. This was the final act that made Natasha want to leave red room program for good. This mission was also the reason Shield had appoint Hawkeye to take her out. Fast forward when Tony sold the Shield secrets he did it to payoff is niece medical treatment. But couldn't get all money in time before Shield and Nat stop him.
In 2014 he went out and killed every red room agent he can find. Even recruiting Hydra agents on the run for help. Sparing them exchange for their help and knowledge. He even worked with crossbones. Helping him hide his tracks. (That why Cap and them had a hard time finding him) Tony even recruit and train some ex Hydra, ten rings, aim soldiers in secret to help him track down his Targets. His little school he call it. Even help Crossbones make his armor suit.
In March of 2016 with Ross paying him for working on the taskmaster project. Tony was finally able to get a high class doctor name Dr. Stephen Strange to do a risky treatment surgery for his niece. However Dr. Stephen Strange was no longer available do to an unfortunate accident to his hands. In his place another Doctor did the surgery but fail causing Tony's niece to die. (Side note. Dr. Stephen Strange heard about this which made even more desperate to fix his hands.)
With the help of Nat and her family in a hard @ss fight they were able to beat taskmaster and reveal to the public his crimes what he did. Ross took Tony Master in the Ralf prison. Letting Nat go just this once out of shame of another one of his experiments gone Rogue.
Nat has a nice little moment with her family. Her sister wanting Nat to come with them. Saying she none enough her past is clean of red. Nat still says no.
Natasha: For the longest time I had to be alone,..... hide and lie. Never letting myself have a family. Now I realized I have two families. Right now my other family needs me. Once they are together again I will like my two families to meet. I love them and I love you guys. I fight for you all until the day I die. Taskmaster is Tony master. A super assassin part of the US government and Ross attempt of creating a super soldier. Ross started the project after the Incredible Hulk movie. Tony master use to work with shield. However he copy and sold Shield classified files to get money. He was fired and than Ross hired him for the taskmaster project. A project to make a soldier who can master any task. The experiment work and gave Tony Masters outstanding super human recall and adaptability. He train in a secret base in Alaska. Until 2012 battle of new York. Taskmaster was sent on a mission to study and copy all super human people starting with the Avengers. Using spy Gear recording devices, hacking cameras, drones and satellite to monitor their moves. After the fall of Shield. Taskmaster was sent on the field to hurt down Hydra agents. Unfortunately this was over shadow by the Avengers doing the same. In 2016 after civil war. He sent on a mission to bring in the rouge Avengers. Even though Captain America was number 1 on Ross's list. Taskmaster asked to go after Black widow first which Ross gave permission. When taskmaster ran into Nat. He said Ross wants her brought in alive. However taskmaster try to kill her instead with much hatred and joy. After barely escaping Nat runs into her sister. She explains for the pass two years taskmaster has been hurting down each of the old black widows along with anyone part of the red room program and killing them. Nat comes to the conclusion that Ross doesn't know about this and Taskmaster is gone rouge, doing this for his own reason. But what is the reason. Nat recognizes his voice and figured outs it is Tony Masters. The guy she help turn in after discovered he was selling Shield secrets. Nat figures this must be Revenge somehow for that.
After going on a journey to save her father and mother from Taskmaster at every turn. The spy family reflect on their past along with their new lives they made for themselves. Nat mom is a doctor helping sick kids. Red Guardian became a performer to raise money for orphans in Russia. Nat sister work as a independent agent stopping human trafficking of kids. Each of them changing to make a difference inspired by Natasha (who was the first person to ever break free from the red room program) by making up for her past by joining shield and then later the Avengers. Wanting to make things right for their ugly past.
And maybe one day I will finally will earn that clean ledger. But that's not today.
Post credit: Tony masters is inside a room watching the news showing an honorable tribute to the Fallen Avengers. On the screen Nat come up. He throw his sword throw the TV. A person walks in the room.
Soldier: sir are you ok.
Tony: I'm fine. I was hoping I would get a chance to kill her. I guess I settle for her family.(he turns around) both of them.
The camera pans out throw a window showing a whole school filled with hundreds of arm Mercenaries training outside.
What do you say. Way better right.

Technically he won the taskmaster fight. Technically
Well, to be fair, they needed to keep the theme that every guy in the movie was either evil or worthless. I gave that a pass in this movie though since it's a female superhero movie, so obviously they were going to do the women empowerment thing.

@cablecow15 are you sure about the Armor is the one that Tracks the moves? So the Suit just Controls the person in it like a Robot?
They left it open to bring Taskmaster back since this was only one take on the character.

The floating CGI head of her on the male taskmaster body was hilarious
@@ezzahhh not as hilarious as Hulk's head floating in the Hulk Buster suit at the Wakanda battle in Infinity War. They're so bad at rendering people's heads into CGI suits.
@@angelseda9823 "ummm it's TaskMam" 🙃
The Shield agents chasing them at the start was actually a Hydra cell within Shield they stating as much later, Florence Pugh killed it and I'm kinda glad she did since shes likely replacing Scarlett in the Avengers after Hawkeye, the charater of Yelena had to be the best thing to come out of this movie for the future of Black Widow in the MCU
Yes the character yelena was a great thing, and are clearly hinting shell take up Natasha's role in later avengers movies.
Come on guys, ur making fun of the jacket and saying its a plot-hole without doing any research urself, she literally wears it througout the entire Infinity War movie smh...
The movie was a bland disappointment.
How so?
It was
I think it was a solid movie but its mid tear mcu
There are so many shit takes in this comment section. I don't know how Joe attracts all these people.
this taskmaster reveal feels like it belongs to what if series.
it belongs in the discard pile. total waste of olga kurylenko. why even cast her? i don't even mind the gender swap, but then why hide it? the red room is all about female killers, so there's no reason to disguise her gender except to surprise the audience and not improve the story
@@360.Tapestry You could also 100% tell it was a male stunt double in the fight scenes, which IMHO kind of gutted the reveal too. It felt like a deliberate deception on the movie's part, not a clever twist. Pretty disappointing as they could have easily found a female stunt performer for the role.
@@me2olive 90% of taskmaster screentime was andy lister 😂
My Theory is they are setting up the Dark Avengers. With Valentina playing Furie’s role.
Don't hurt yourself thinking about all that. Just better to expect anything and nothing from Disney moving forward.
Oh man! I hadn't thought of that! That would have been badass if the whole family overwhelmed Taskmaster Incredibles style! What a missed opportunity.
*vin diesel appears* did I hear someone say family?

I think Sony owns the rights to her and are currently developing a solo film
@cablecow15 they would but it might make the right wingers triggered because they would make JJJ into some Alex Jones or Rush Limbaugh or Ben Sharpiro caricature.

I Honestly Lost Intrest in this movie, It’s really Hard to Care for a Character who died
Exactly. There’s no point in releasing this movie now.
Thats my point and the sad thing is Black Window should have all ready had a movie they waited untill there it was impossible to care for it
good or bad movie, you people are acting like prequels and/or non-chronological order movies are a totally new thing lol
Boohoo
@@AndThenShwarmaAfter It’s My Opinion I really don’t Care like MCU fanboys are Toxic and No I am not acting the trailers made me lose interest, They should have done a prequel before she died
There is a way that Red Guardian could be telling the truth about facing "Captain America' in the 80s: What if it wasn't Rogers (of course), but Isaiah Bradley, a.k.a. "Black Captain America"?
We know he had at least one mission before he was put in prison by SHIELD/Hydra, but maybe he had several more before then, and on one he was in russia and fought with Red Guardian?
Russia sending Red Guardian on an undercover mission to Ohio would be like the US sending Shaq on an undercover mission to Beijing.
This is true.
Vin Diesel Black Widows: "Family"!
Lol completely forgot about this movie coming out, a prequel for black widow was not the way to go
Except it isn't a prequel? They spend a title sequence and five opening minutes establishing her back story as an orphan selected to become a Russian sleeper spy agent. Then the rest of the movie is basically her story following the Civil War events.
@@Foxfire_forty-nine It's a prequel because it's set before the events of infinity war and endgame. Also not to mention that she's dead in the MCU.
That's not a prequel but interquel
Bunch of retards arguing ...love it
The film would of been released years ago if it wasn't for the infighting between Isaac Perlmutter and Kevin Feige.
Can masked characters in movies just be exactly who they're meant to be? I just want a Taskmaster who has photographic memory, is a hired mercenary, and has ACTUAL DIALOGUE!
One thing I will say regardless of the overall movie is I actually really liked the little sister, Elena. She stole the show IMO, and a very worthy successor to ScarJo. Great casting!
She hot.
The child is actually played by Milla Jovovich's daughter
They should've casted Milla Jovovich as the mother instead of Rachel Weisz. Would've been cool to see.
@@reduXstereo Rachel is a way superior actor.. even though they didn't use much of it.
Looks exactly like her lol
@@BTMaverick707 Milla probably would've become an Oscar level actor being in the same scene as her actual daughter though. Maybe the plot ruined her chance. Now that I think about it maybe she could've played as Black Widow's real mother that fought to find her in a flashback lol.
@@reduXstereo She doesnt have that kind of talent, big reason why shes in those C rated movies. I do appreciate her for 5th element and the 1st resident evil..
Idk if u missed it but, "Task Master" does uses more fighting styles against Red Guardian, she used Black Panther's claws style, Winter Soldier's knife style and Captain America's shield style.
You don't see that though, you see her pop out claws then it cuts away and they are never mentioned again, every character used a freggin knife and has done the ol knife drop/catch and stab and the shield was just throwing with 0 bounces or neat flip catches and throws.
you literally just see her take her claws out. that’s not a move
@@Ronfost89 dude... u do get that a shield of regular metal doesn't bounce right? We literally saw thos with John on FWS show, also what else do u want a complete sequence for each fighting style?
@@squidbate3404 bruh... we see herbusing that style a bit, as well as others, it wasn't long but it was there, do u expected complete fighting sequences for each style? Read a comic, taskmaster uses technics in variation.
Florence Pugh as Yelena was the best thing about this movie in my opinion. Didn't care that they gender swapped Taskmaster but they still could've done so much with that character but they wasted it. Overall, film was alright.
Now onto Spidey: No Way Home and Doctor Strange 2.
That little "Yearrgh!" after dropping out of the duct and landing in the superhero pose sold her take on capes very well. Poseur.
She was terrible.
The 2nd ending is just suppose to set up the Hawkeye tv show where that story will continue.
Dont slander Taskmaster. He's awesome, and this movie wasted him completely
Not to worry real fans know " it's TaskMam!"
10:54 the argument "they don't trust eachother, that's why they fight" is pretty dumb. If they don't trust eachother why did Illana send the vials to Natasha in the first place? Lmao
Perhaps Natasha thought her sister was still working for the Red Room? Someone pretending to be her sister? Ross using her sister to capture her?

This would be a HUGE issue for Natasha after the Sokovia Accords, realizing that because of her sisters actions a lot of people lost their lives.
She doesn't even acknowledge it.

No? They stuck to the character design. They show you Taskmaster watching fights

Red Guardian - "I'm the only Russian Super Soldier"
Omega Red - "Hold my beer"
Isnt the winter soldier basically the soviet's super soldier?
@@madisonbailey2564 Not in the MCU. He was more of Hydra's super soldier than the USSR's
The one issue I've always had with Marvel are the weak villains who seem to get weaker throughout the movie. Thanos in Inifinity War was great but aside from that, almost all MCU movies have had a very weak villain who gets one-shotted by the heroes most of the time.
But we haven't seen, how she became black widow and we won't see SJ comming back for another movie se said, next after this is only the post credit scene where her sis is going after Hawkeye

I expected to see more of her life growing up in the red room, I feel like I still don't know much about what her backstory was
I just watched this movie again and I’m totally convinced that this was originally written as a prequel story about how black widow took down the red room.
