    amzn.to/3fWYPy2 - Gates serpentine belt used in the video

    amzn.to/37nXdcG - Gearwrench Mid-length socket set metric

    amzn.to/3g0RLQR - Gearwrench 3/8" drive torque wrench
    amzn.to/3fZQh9r - Pickup tool (for when you drop a bolt)
    Just a quick video showing how I replaced the serpentine drive belt and drive belt tensioner on a 2007 Honda Accord with the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine.
    This would be the same for 2003-2007 and for the Honda CR-V and Element.
    The tools used in the video:
    14mm long handle wrench or serpentine belt tool
    12mm deep and mid-length socket
    10mm socket
    It helps to have a few different lengths of socket wrenches and short socket extensions to get the right fit on each bolt.
    The torque specs I found online said 16 ft. lbs for the tensioner mounting bolts and the power steering pump bolts.
    Thanks for watching!

    Great video! I'm going to be tackling this next week. Had to replace my belt because it shredded itself to death from the power steering pump leaking onto the belt. I'd bought the tensioner and belt awhile back but I put off installing them until I needed to. So I'll be swapping the tensioner and the PS pump at the same time😅

    Great video. Quick question. You said that 12mm socket isn't a deep socket but like a medium length socket? Any idea where I can find one. I'm afraid my 12mm deep socket even with 1/4" ratchet won't fit. Thanks. NEVERMIND... I had to expand your description. Gearwrench.. good enough!!

  • @pinoyrunningpenguin

    Did this today. But I only changed the belt. The tensioner bolt almost got rounded I think I need to change it need time. I had to keep tugging the belt it on the top as you can lose a finger if that wrench slip from the bolt of the tensioner and it happed 6 times when I was doing it. Be careful

    Dan I broke the middle long nut while installing ! So I had to take off the the new tensioner pulley. What should I do to take off the broken nut ? It’s stuck on the metal part that holds the tensioner. Just a little piece is sticking out

    • @DantheFixitMan
      @DantheFixitMan  Рік тому +1

      Oh my, so sorry to hear that. You may be able to get some vise grips on the part sticking out enough to back it out, or you can use a small punch and try to back it out carefully. There's a few other methods out there, maybe try searching to see if there's a video that would show something similar to what you're dealing with.
      So sorry that happened, hope you can get it figured out without too much trouble.
      Best of luck!

      Thanks Dan! I was able to take the screw with vise grips and pliers took 10 minutes I had a heart attack. I had to go replace the bolt, sucks because I had to replace them with a little bigger nut so I would have to take it off with a 13 socket

    Isn’t there an arrow somewhere on the tensioner signifying that it needs to be replaced?

    HOW MANY MILES WHEN THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED? DID THE TRANNY FAIL ALSO? IF SO HOW MANY MILES?

    • @DantheFixitMan
      @DantheFixitMan  5 місяців тому

      The timing chain 'stretched' or wore out causing it to appear to be stretched and longer than it should be which caused it to skip a few teeth and the engine to get out of proper timing. I think that this happened just before 240k miles. We still have this vehicle and it has about 260k miles now. The transmission still works great.

    • @DantheFixitMan

      It is a spring inside that tensioner and if you think how much idling and years are on this tensioning part. I would say every 100k, For how cheap and usually simple to replace. I am replacing my brothers honda accord idler pulley. It has made it over 250k miles before making noise.
