This is huge! Anyone who has a second gen nissan 4x4 should see this. I just did the front my u joints on my 2005 xterra yesterday. Had some clicking sounds that got louder the slower I went. Solved that issue with the new joints. Now I know that my bearing might be bad because of the joint. The bad joint probably caused some alignment issues. There's a huge difference in steering now. BTW, is there anyone out there that has had a good experience taking their car to the dealer for diagnoses or repair? It's crazy to think that it doesn't matter if your car is the same brand as the dealer you take it to. A good mechanic is a good mechanic. Shout out to chrisfix! Dude is killin it!

Thanks for posting the video. I found your vid after I was poking around the underside of my '07 Titan (124,000 miles on it) because I had a pretty good vibration under the driver seat once I got to 50 mph or higher. Just like you, it was the rear end of the front drive shaft U-joint (at the transfer case end of the shaft). I did the U-Joint cross replacement this past weekend. Not a bad job with the right tools to 'press out/ press in' the cross caps. I'm going to change the transfer case fluid as well and keep an eye on the seal at the output pinion where the bad U-joint was. I saw evidence of fluid leaking and spattering the underside of the vehicle at the pinion. I figured I was driving with the bad U-joint for about 6,000 miles. Appreciated your video.

Very informative video. I used Timken hub bearings when mine went out. I think that's what the OEM uses on my 2010. Pretty sure my U-joints are done too. Getting some clunking and slight vibrations now at 143K miles.

Thanks doing them now. I needed a refresher and I happened to buy a ball joint press like yours a couple months ago.

My 2nd gen 2018 SV has been giving me a humming symptom when coming to a stop or taking off. Usually happens at slower speeds then when I go faster it isn't as loud. Pulled my half-shaft today and went for a spin.....boom! Noise gone. I will be replacing the half-shaft U-joints before putting it back in.

Wow I literally found this video after I figured out my half shaft U joint was the culprit and my exhaust manifold snap two weeks ago and I got 371,000 miles on my 2005 Nissan Titan

Another thing that can cause the bearing to go bad fast is an improperly torqued CV axle nut. Most shops zip it on with an impact. Do this step wrong and your bearing will be toast in no time. Hope this helps! Also US made Timken bearings will be your best bet

I think my navara the torque settings for the wheel bearing were 40 lbft. I cranked them snug then a half turn each.

I have the exact same problem 05 Titan 150,000 MI putting wheel bearings on left and right side every year rear universal joint on the front drive shaft real sloppy changing it now I actually was in the process of doing that before I watched your video not even thinking about the wheel bearing just watching for an easier way to work on the front drive shaft

Hi, I have to lift the truck to be able to do the check and see if any is damaged? I have a 2004 titan and it hits hard when I reverse

It wouldn’t hurt. Hard to say however, sometimes you may find looseness when the drivetrain is fixed, and sometimes when you’re able to move it freely.
