Sun salutations litetally saved my life. I suffer from depression and anxiety, ive tried tai chi, various chi kung sets and sitting meditation. Some helped a little, but it was Ashtanga Sun salutations that cured my depression. I have tried other yoga styles such as Iyengar, which I do respect. But it never helped as much as Ashtanga. Thank you for this video Kino!
Thank you! I am trying to reestablish my home Ashtanga practice in between shifts working in the ICU treating Covid patients, and this is just what I’ve needed after so much stress and neglecting my body. My mood and health are so much better because I am able to practice along with your videos. ❤️😁
I got tears in my eyes listening to you chant the opening prayer. Remembering my early yoga days practicing everyday for awhile in a studio in Boston with some ashtanga yogis.
Can’t thank you enough for this Been a yogi for several years, all styles (mostly Iyengar last year or so) except Ashtanga which I only really discovered a little while ago Love how practice makes me feel mentally but dealing w severe anaemia and I didn’t have the energy to power through and it’s left me too exhausted This is perfect for now while I recover and rebuild my strength Thanks so much for this The speed is also perfect when you want to work your body but just find yourself constantly out of breath with faster paced practices Immensely grateful to you!
Thank you that’s just what I needed to get off the couch! You’re correct it did take me seven years to be able to straighten my legs in a foreword bend. Your prop prompts were awesome, often people think props are cheating but they actually help us active good muscle memory for good form, for our individual bodies. many many thanks:)
very nice class. Had done Ashtanga for several years but many circumstances intervened, especially, no contact with ashtanga teachers. After 16 years, nice way to practice. Thanks.
thanks again Kino!. you are a great teacher!!!, you helped me in my practice from 7 yeas ago and now you are helped me to help others!! great way to teach a beginner with care and professionalism. Its difficult to teach to a person that is not physically ready for the asana but always there is a way!! very helpful thanks!!🙏
Perfect. I'm on my second week as a beginner. I've done lots of minor practices by sections and am attempting 1 full practice a week. I don't have the strength yet to complete all the vinyasa's throughout the sitting section and this looks like the perfect step while I gain more strength. I made it through 50 min of a full workout this am but want to try this tomorrow. Thank you for all the modifications with blocks! I can't wait to try them.
very happy ... the first time I do the modified series ... thank you very much. I have started following your videos for a month in quarantine ... they are very inspiring. Your podcast too, has been light to understand this path ... loves from Argentina!
I have been practicing yoga for about 7 years, vinyasa, Hatha, and yin. I recently had the urge to start practicing ashtanga and this was the perfect introduction. Thank you so much for all you do. Blessed be yogi c:
Thank you! I am a beginner. I enjoyed your instructions on use of the blocks ,blanket and belt to assist in stretches. I appreciated the constant encouragement breathing and positive reinforcement in knowing that It’s not accomplished in even a few sessions, as I try to overextend some poses. I really need that. Namaste.
Thank you Kino. I'm so glad I found your challenge to get back to my Ashtanga Practice. Although my body is not as strong and supple as it used to be, of more value is a deeper understanding of the poses and the pracitice. I have learnt modifications to make the practice sustainable while my body heals. Keep practicing as you say..
When modern medicine failed me 18 years ago, giving me two options 1) a brace and disability when I needed and 2) surgery to drive a rod through my left ankle to fuse it shut. At 17 years and a ton of research I turned to yoga, all I could find in the Deep South was an Ashtanga book, so I went for it. Then one day there was a pop, and no pain. I veered of into a more Hatha based stretching routine, Today I restarted the practice for therapy of a rotator cuff repair, all because I watched the London Real interview with Kino. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for giving us this wonderful opportunity to experience our body and its potential, Kino. This is one of my favourite videos you made so far. Love and light. 🙏🏽☀️
This is perfect!!! Just when I needed help to get myself back to practicing and get stronger again. Glad I found your yoga videos here on UA-cam. Always a pleasure to practice with you. Yoga has never been this inspiring.
I am too. Kino is one of my favorites, I had followed her for several years now so I am excited she is helping us to practica Ashtanga with props so eventually we can transition to the traditional Ashtanga practice. Thanks, Kino!
Thank you, after years of off and on practice 🤦♂️🤹♂️this modified approach has been exactly what I needed. I’m incredibly inspired by it, and dedicating 3 days a week to it! I’ll do a separate 20 min flow the other days, and definitely planning to keep with a daily practice. Also, the mods here are really great, and have helped me stay focused on alignment and to gradually move into a posture as opposed to quickly. 🙏🎉 thank you Kino, this is a great addition to your awesome catalogue of work!
So grateful for this....recently developed some physical ailments that have made my usual ashtanga practice difficult so being able to come back to it using this session brought much gratitude and grace. Ase-O
Thank you for this class. Very helpful. I have been practicing the yin yoga classes with you to help my back pain and I am almost pain free 😀 thank you for remaining me to take it as it is and not force it 🙏😘
What kind of back pain did you have if you don’t mind? I have sciatica and low back/hip pain and I find that many poses aggravate it so I am learning where to modify.
Can't wait to try this baby primary series that looks very accessible. I've been away from mysore practice for a very very long time and have an ongoing lower back issue to boot. Even a half primary will be out of reach for me right now so it's nice to have a practice that's already adjusted for beginner and that's encouraging us through the asanas.
This was great. So many ashtanga teachers even in beginners just do the moves without explanation. A great teacher in anything is a great communicator. Good job. p.s. near the end when we were pushing up in the cross legged position and you said to release the negative thoughts, I had to release a flood of them. ha ha.
Thank you Kino Ma for the modified series, you are my very inspired Yoga Guru!... i am very blessed to being your student! i watched all of your videos in recent months. its very Dedicated. Thanks for your ultimate service!
Thank you for modified sequence for beginners, I have friends who just started yoga during quarantine and they tried a few than sticked to ashtanga. I tried to get them beginner videos so they do do crazy things without teacher, this and the other video you posted yesterday is just exactly what they need, thank you! 🙏❤️
Thank you so much for this video. This is exactly what I needed to get started again. I have a long way to go, but it is just great to have true beginner session avaible.
Hey Kino I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your practice with me. I was wondering if you could possibly teach me the prayer you said at the beginning of your practice. ......peace,love ,happiness to you and all those you love
I found this practice was a good way to do a more gentle practice but still Ashtanga I can do the Primary but not every day - it still takes a lot of out me in terms of stamina. Usually I modify some of the vinyasas and go all the way down on Chaturanga because otherwise I can't keep up. I made myself modify on all the lotus positions, as my right knee has been complaining lately. The slow pace allowed me to practice my 'wiggle through and wiggle back' in the vinyasas (I've been watching your drills videos on jump through/jump backs). Those take a little time to do and on a normal practice video I find myself behind the count. Thank you for sharing this practice with us, Namaste 🙏 PS: I don't know what you said differently during Utplutih in this practice, but for the first time ever I managed to lift both feet for a second or so! With blocks, obviously, but still. You laughed in the video and I found myself laughing with you. You make yoga so much fun. Thank you, again.
Wonderful modifications! Like another comment I'd love an intermediate approach to the primary series. Great thing happened today....I did full chaturanga throughout the entire class without struggling. Getting stronger everyday with your videos. Thank you! Namaste!
thank you! You are beautiful inside and out, AND so well versed to be able to make modifications and recite the traditional sanskrit! This is a very helpful practice.
Thanks Kino! loved it! I would love to see more detailed Beginner Ashtanga. Sometimes I feel like I don"t do it in the right way. Thanks again, love you
I don't think anyone has put together a more accessible starter ashtanga series. Thank you so much!!
Happy to hear it :)
Kino is amazing!!!!
