The video might be, but the content is not. Much broader topics, more watches and interesting historical background of the timepieces. Some of the vintage stuff they cover here is stunning to watch
Ali Alexander You are being too kind to the narrator. There is no clever jab or play on words... it was a mistake. He clearly meant it the other way around.
I used to like 126621, but then I saw this. A perfect size, great movement and the presence tells everything I want it to say. It's not childish nor flashy, yet only you know it's gold and luxury timepiece. The perfect watch that you buy for yourself, not to show off.
I didn’t like the yacht- master 2. Too flamboyant. Loved the yacht-master 1 but it looked very small. I absolutely love the new 42 mill yacht master. Captured it perfect.
My favorite Yacht-Master is the more recent version with deep blue dial. Much more legible than the original platinum dial version. And the smooth case with soft edges makes it more comfortable to both wearer and partner.
This has grown on me since it's launch. I really love everything about it. I'm considering selling my 2 watches to buy this. I love it's understated but classy smart and stealth.
Best watch in the market, nicest Rolex without being flashy. Solid gold without anyone noticing, Rolex without anyone noticing. Grey market has this a bit too much over the retail cost 35k in my area. 29k at the AD
I think the blue dial YM is the best looking watch Rolex makes. Beautiful, elegant, functional, and robust. Plus, you don’t see one on everyones wrist like you do the Sub.
Beautiful video as always. I think this one was made in a little rush, or you forgot to do proof watching. Two mistakes: 4:29: it went from zero to hero, not the other way around as you said. 5:57; the clip was trimmed too late as you had moved the wrist out and the frame was blank with something photobombing later. Stunning piece and review regardless.
'Something photo bombing' is the top of the reviewer's head. You can see his hair. All these mistakes seems like Watchfinder is sending some sort of subliminal messages in codes.
I just saw my everyday Starbucks Barista wear one yesterday. I asked him how? He replied, I don’t gamble, smoke, nor drink. Led a frugal lifestyle for the past 5 years. Impressive!!!
Okay, so I have watched pretty much the majority of the videos you have posted so far and I can't tell you how much I enjoy the narration. A big thanx for that, you have certainly turned me into a watch aficionado! As I get more and more into the sport however, I have grown more demanding which assumingly is only natural :) For example, when you refer to the old age Rolex timepieces, before the brand became refined and luxurious, I feel an urge to visualize what they might looked like.. Instead, I just have this sparkling Yacht-Master swiveling around. Is there any chance we could get a glimpse into these old timers without having to open a separate tab/window and google it ?
Never liked the yachtmaster until I tried one on. It has a nicer case with slight curvature to the sides and the lugs were thinner than those of the submariner. This version however seems to have gone for the more massive, and more submariner look, and other than the cool black bezel, it doesn't do it for me as the older one does.
There is some revisionist history here. The steel / platinum dial Yachtmaster was actually very popular when it was released in the late 90’s. It just didn’t get refreshed when the other lines did with ceramic etc so it didn’t carry much momentum 15 years later when they did the rose gold.
Spot on. There was a waiting list for the original YM 16622 platinum dial back in 1999. Showbiz celebrities had one (Charlie Sheen, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Phil Colins, Russel Crowe etc.).
Love the new 42mm, but will wait for the cheaper steel version. The 40 mm version with matt bezel and the 40mm with platinum bezel in steel great alternative to the in demand and ridiculous wait listed sports models from Rolex.
This was the one watch I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t received well. Because it’s probably the only Rolex that had a striking appealed to me. Watch world, can ever fully understand it.
Yacht Master is just an incredible piece... Own a dual tone 2004 white dial and just got a Rhodium... Such as underrated watch and no crazy scalpers reselling them
I never resonated with Rolex. I appreciate the quality but they just do absolutely nothing for me. But your reviews are mesmerizing, informative and addictive.
Very beautiful watch at first glance, has a nice solid feel about it. Love how the detail we captured on this video and your discretion of the watch makes fall in love with it even more..
Great content as usual. Your videous are captivating ! Couldn't help but notice that at around 1:10 you can see the bezel was cleaned but not between the numbers and indices.
Rolex needs to make more YM 40’s in platinum and steel, especially the dark rhodium dial. It’s their best watch yet impossible to find, I had to buy mine on the grey market with the screws coming out of the bracelet. Looks like someone bought it for a wedding and had it resized but didn’t have it done professionally, so no locktite. Nothing says excellence like the bracelet falling apart 4 hours after you pay $1300 for a 2 or 3 year old $12000 new Rolex.
I think it’s a great ‘out’ for Rolex - it can play beyond the Sub’s now claustrophobic confines and explore new ideas. I love this piece. It’s got just the right amount on ‘Chilli’
Brandon McGill the markup on their precious metal watches is incredible. Using gold instead of steel probably adds a couple grand to the production cost. Then they up the price by $20k. Racket
Hello. Could you please tell us what you think of the latest Yacht Master with Rose Gold and chocolate dial? Seems to me it’s a bit like Marmite but I think it may be a future classic.
Too big I’d say, 40mm is the sweet spot for most men’s wrist watches. Also this is made of white gold, when Rolex inevitably release the steel version of the Yacht-Master 42, it might turn out to be a hit. I think the 40mm Yacht-Master with platinum bezel and dark anthracite sunburst dial is the pick of the current range, with the blue sunburst variation coming a close second. Even though for me the blue is a bit too much in your face, despite blue generally being my favorite color for a watch dial, together with a green sunburst too.
the problem is always not enough money. Before the YM I have several good watches to buy even from Rolex, like a submariner combined, Explorer II and Day date. I already have others that I consider a must. Thanks for your videos.
I just picked up an SD43 (for the 2nd time) last week. I am having trouble warming to it (again). I think the YM42 might just be the watch I need. I would happily trade in my SD43 for this piece, though I may also have to throw in my car to make the numbers work, but hey, walking is good for your health, right? The gloss black dial is much nicer than the more matte SD43. The simpler, more subdued bezel on the YM42 is much more appealing than the frenetic look of the SD43. My sweet spot is a 44mm diver, but since Rolex only shows up with the much too large in other respects DSSD, I am forced into some concessions. I think the SD43 being much thicker does make it appear smaller in general. Just my preference, but if I am going to have to go with a smaller watch, then I would want it to be much slimmer. Interestingly the dial measurement seems to be just a little larger on the YM42, and with a similar lug-to-lug, I suspect it wears at least as big as the SD43. I think this could be a contender for "one watch collection". Appropriately sized and precious metal for dressier occasions while the rubber strap puts it in line with shorts and a t-shirt wear. And in the modern era of rampant watch crime in some places, it has a very under-the-radar type of presentation that could be useful in dark alleys and port city dive bars.
Damn, I love your videos , I watch every episode - feels like I’m watching Animal kingdom but about watches...You’re the David Attenborough of Watches!
But the price. For a rubber strap (braclet, some argue) when you can buy The Smurf, solid white gold with solid strap, for slightly more. Doesn't make sense to me. I think its Rolex answer to Patek's Aquanaut, which explains the price, but doesn't justify it
amazing watch but Rolex needs to actually release them into stores. enough with the hard to get strategy... let us play with them and buy them already.
The Rolex Yacht Master 42 is a beautiful, sporty and big white gold watch. I would have to order a white gold or stainless steel bracelet to replace the rubber bracelet in the summer.
Yes....our preferences are fickle. I liked that bit about finding the magic ingredient. It truly is something difficult to pinpoint. Sometimes the designers stumble upon it. At other times it eludes them. I feel sometimes people need time to adapt to a new look. They simply cannot be hurried.
Its a great watch, but i would make a small change to the strap and not have it tapper to a narrow clasp. I think it would look better as a straight width from the lugs with wider clasp. Otherwise its a really nice piece.
I won't ever be a Rolex-Fan. Granted, they manufacture very good watches. But above all Rolex is a masterpiece in marketing not in watchmaking. The Watchfinder & Co vids however are the bees knees and a cut above the rest.
Amazing as usual. I really need to understand more about the history of the Yachmaster I. Did they ever released an anniversary Yachmaster version ? You also didn’t review the Blue and Rhodium versions.
Large pm head, on a rubber strap, oversized hour hand, massive, long seconds hand with oversized lollypop, skinny minute hand. Looks like Rolex designers were given a morning with a parts bin to come up with it. I don,t think this will sell in great numbers, like it,s smaller brothers before.
