    I played the Championship course the day after Padraig Harrington won the open in 2007. Same tees as on the Sunday, stands still up too. I was level par after 6 but ended up shooting an 82. Still one of the best rounds of my life. The double bogey on the 16th ruined the round though. I got on as part of the press day as many of the press pack chose not to play.

  • @StevenMoney

    I love this place. Played it in 04 and 05. In 04 I started double, triple and then double again before I realized I needed to do something. Made an eagle on the back nine par five with some other good shots and finished with a 85 by making a forty footer for par on 18. It will eat your lunch even when you’re a good player and I was so lucky to have a young man on my bag who was a local extremely good player. I’ll never forget the couple from Norway clapping on my eagle putt as it brought me being unconsciousness. Remains like a very good dream to me and can’t say enough about that magical place.
    If I remember correctly for a local there it was 25 pounds for a year to play there. Yeah, sickening when I think what I paid for one round.

    I played Carnoustie back in 2013. Still remember going from bunker to bunker on the 8th for a triple. I hit 3-wood into 16 and made par. Two 3 irons on 17 for another par. Par on 18 for a 75. Played with my dad and brother. Absolutely magical experience!

  • @Ligerpride
    @Ligerpride 3 роки тому

    I've been lucky enough to play it. It's tough but it's by no means noticeably more difficult than most links courses by design, particularly if the rough isn't up to the knees.
    Great course though, I can vividly remember nearly every hole bar maybe 11,12. The 3rd hole is a thing of beauty, as is the final 3 holes.

I don't know what it is about that double bend Mizuno but you don't look comfortable with it. I’m new to golf, played 2 18’s and been to the range 3 or 4 times. So still very new, anyway I see a lot of people saying “it was a good putt” like you did on the birdie effort on the 11th. Or “good drive” when they’ve landed in the rough…
    Is this just to try keep moral high? Or is there something else about it that was good that I’m missing?
    Because in my mind as a fresh golfer, it didn’t go in the hole so how could it be called a good putt and rough isn’t fairway so… I’m sure you get my point.
    Please dont bite my head off, I’m not trolling and that’s a serious question!
