Hi Stephen...The Great One (did I get that right?). I had the opportunity to join NAHOA on their passage through the Panama Canal. What an experience! Welcome to the "Honorary Crew Club"!
@@stephenmacleod8524 Oh yes...that is right. I knew I was off just a bit. Such a cool nickname! I am watching Colin's newest episode right now. They definitely chose well! Not so much when it comes to sailing, I am 40 years working with yachts all over the world, and you never pull down on the leach of a mainsail when trimming or bring the sail down, this is why the mainsail was getting stuck
Biggest advantage to having guests aboard, cruising w others: especially amazing crew like these 2 Honorable Coasties: (1) you make close dear friends for life! They will be back (2) you make amazing permanent priceless memories! …what a great video, hope y’all have an awesome passage!
Man I wish I had known about the Coasties growing up in West Texas. The decision to serve in the locales yall participated in sound so exotic compared to the options I had to choose, although I’m just as proud to have served. Thank you all for watching out for my ‘friends atop the sea’. So happy yall have retired and sought out a great couple to meet and sail with: Nikki and Jason. Enjoy.
Terrific episode! I was happy for the two of you to have such outstanding guests on board. The opportunities the both of you had , and vice-versa , to share information and expand each others maritime experiences was very unique. Truly something I would've loved to be part of. And the best part being that they appeared to be just a fun and first class couple ! Take care !!!
For many reasons - I was delayed in watching until today. What an episode! Loved it. What is especially remarkable has been reading through the comments. It's amazing how many comments were about the Hamilton! It sounds like a ship at the center of a special universe. SO MANY folks who had either served on the Hamilton themselves - or had relatives who had done so. And so many Coast Guard members - both presently and veterans. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE!
Love to see fellow retired Coasties on UA-cam! Maybe someday it’ll be me? Now I’m an even bigger fan than ever lol. I’ve been watching Gone With the Wynns for about 5 years. You guys have become my favorite show.😮. Keep up the great work, stay curious.
Mini Coop I also sailed on the Hamilton 1984 to 1985 when she was stationed in Boston, MA. Spent 13 months down in the engine room as a snipe. Surprised me very much seeing it mentioned here. Thank you both for your service.
Being a Squid, I use to joke about Costies never seeing deep water. My ship (Gearing class Destroyer) was tied up in Mayport, Fl. We were putting out steel spring lays (extra steel cables) because there was a hurricane coming up the coast. I looked out and saw a Coast Guard Cutter heading out to sea because some stupid fisherman didn't get in to port and was caught in the hurricane. They steamed out and rescued them. You Guys Rock.
I am a native Cebuana and thanks to you I learned that Balamban is the ship building capital ! I learned more about my island through you, thank you for sharing your experiences.
Thank your Guest Coop and Mel for their service in keeping America safer and keeping the bad from our communities. Often times We see the Coast guard as more search and rescue. But they really fight the war on drugs which is continuous vs other branches of military have a "Declaration of War." If Mel can fly a helicopter and land it on a box then I fully and confident she can sail a boat. 🎉 Wishing you all great sailing. What a blessing of making good friends.🎉❤
After being beaten down by the North Atlantic this month, I have a new appreciation for these amazing people who stick with it and keep on keeping on. I’m throwing in the towel until spring, again, so I’ll be sailing along vicariously. Thanks for the great documentary work! Much love and respect! ❤️ 🫡
The scene around 27 minutes was beautiful. Calm seas, a few islands in the background, clouds and the occasional rain shower visible in the distance. That is the life I want.
Gotta say, my wife and I are VERY impressed with your "crew". What a background they have. And what a fit for you two. People often times can look like a great fit on paper. And then, they get on the boat out to sea when you realize "Uh-Oh". And Nikki and Jason, your video production can't be beat. Kudos to everyone. And fair seas.
Big Coop and Mini Coop seem like terrific shipmates. They make you appreciate the men and women helping to secure our borders and rescue seafarers in distress. How did they cope with cruising at 4 knots after serving on Coast Guard ships that cruise at 15 knots +? Great video, thanks.
What an excellent pick for the crew. I look forward to seeing how the coasties do. My father was a 28-year career Coast Guard officer. He graduated from the USCG Academy and served in three wars. Mini Coop, my father was the CO of the cutter Hamilton out of Boston in the early 1970s. He took her to Vietnam. He was also based in KW in the 1960s as CO of the cutter Diligent. Not a whole lot of square groupers back then. Just Castro and the Soviet Union. I am so looking forward to seeing you and the Wynns sail together. We love Nikki and Jason. Please look out for them. Semper Paratus.
Great episode. 28+ years in USCG. 3 ALPATS on USCGC CAMPBELL. Retired in Philippines. Good to see so many Coasties subscribers and well wishers and admiirers. Thanks for your service and continued duties. I can tell my generation of Coasties were replaceby some very competent people.
I have watched your videos for years. I have enjoyed all of them. Please thank these two outstanding people for their service! I was going to scroll past but they captured my attention and man I'm glad they did! This is such an interesting video in every way! Enjoyed it all and felt compelled to comment all of you! Great job!
Very cool having new crew aboard! Thank you both for your service and continuing service!! Always good to see Curiosity in the water and moving again! Hope everything was able to get done at HH!! Let's see what she can do NOW!! That was one BIG van HH had....Haha. Nice of them to let you borrow it and a driver for the market run. Until the next video....keep the sail side up!
What a great crew to bring aboard. They share your enthusiam for sailing and for life. Thank you, thank you for taking this old armchair sailor with you.
Ciao from Italy and the Ligurian coast. Again!, The Wynns delivered an excellent and interesting show. Also " Thank you" for this exceptional couple being onboard. We wish to, Thank them for their epic service to our seas. It's always so wonderful ❤️ to enjoy the Wynns 😊
Thank you for sharing your back on the water experience with all of us. I like your new crew members also, they seem like very fun people to have around and they are learning fast by the looks of it. Jason and Nikki, you both are so happy when you are back on the water and sailing, you have perma grins on your face and are so relaxed and at home out there on the water. You make it look easy but from your previous adventures I know it isn't always like that. I hope all the repairs hold up now and that most, if not all, of the initial problems with your beautiful new boat are history at this point. Have fun out there, I'll look for you again next week. Be safe! Watching from West Michigan, Lake Michigan area.
Great video. I loved the dolphins. Love your guests. My cousin was a Coast Guard Commander for many years before he retired. I have great regard and appreciation for all they do.❤
One of your best videos yet! I’m retired Canadian Navy, and have worked with the USCGC Hamilton many times back in the 80’s. Good to see some awesome coasters aboard!
You see? Military people are just like regular people! My cacao comes from Peru! A heaping spoonful blended into a 20 oz of whole organic milk is absolutely low-carb heaven. :)
First off, a HUGE thank you to the Coopers(Big Coop, and Mini Coop, I love those nicknames!LOL) for your service in the Coast Guard!! WOW! What a sight! I have NEVER seen a pod of dolphins that huge!! There must have been close to a hundred? Fascinating, smart and sometimes bratty animals! But, even at their 'brattiest' you can't help but love them! And such beautiful coral! And before I knew it another episode is done, eagerly awaiting further adventures of the Wynnes and Coopers! Y'all have fun and be safe!!
I also enjoyed this video. Now that you have been Using your new dinghy for sometime. What are some of your likes and dislikes with this dinghy. Maybe you could ask the Coopers about some safety tips on operating a dinghy. Such as life jackets And attaching emergency kill switch To the operator.
I liked the free water segment. On a boat there is such a thing as free. The only thing is rain. Whenever we would get into some rain we would break out a mop or a rag and clean clean clean. One of the areas that we always had trouble with were the windows. The drains were frequently plugged so keeping them clear was a big part of rain cleaning. Modern boats are so much better at everything than they were 50 plus years ago when I was transporting boats for clients. It was a great opportunity to learn an incredible amount about being prepared for all conditions. My dad was a master on that subject. Kindest Regards, Your Pal Al
Once again a great start to a new experience. To the Coops" thanks for your service to the U.S. Coast Guard....to the Wynn's thank you for for sharing your oh so interesting journeys through this life. Your channel is so educational and inspiring!
Thank you to the Coop’s to their decades of service 🥂 It is greatly appreciated 💞 That was a very large pod of dolphins! Was it a superpod? Absolutely love them!!
great video! i love to hear the stories of your guests and all the people you encounter on your journeys. it feels inspirational. also its very cool what Starlink can do in remote locations like the sea, enabling to coordinate rescues from anywhere
Jason, I still have no idea 🤷🏼 how you had HH design the never ending closet where Nikki keeps all her clothes!?!? I mean she’s just like my wife, never the same outfit! And I KNOW how big my closet is! 😂😂😂 Great episode yawl! 🎉🎉🎉 Glad to see yawl give’n back 🎉🎉🎉😊
Coop and Mini: I am a medically retired Coastie that served 5 years. Cutter Sweetbrier, Sta Portsmouth, VA and finished as an AD3 at Air Sta Sitka, AK in 87. So jealous of your new adventure with the Wynns. In 83, we sailed from Cordova, AK to Hono on a 180 for REFTRA in 50-70 ft seas which took 10 days in very rough conditions. Had only been in the Guard 4 months. Wishing you both following seas and lots of fun sailing!
It’s so good to see you two back where you belong ! It’s also great that you have some fabulous crew members too. I envy everyone there, as you are going to have a super time ENJOY!!!!!!!
I’m always wishing for more video because I can’t believe how fast 32 minutes goes by when watching these videos. It’s so beautiful and amazing what you see snorkeling the reef. The Coops seem like lovely people and I thank them for their service. Should make for a fun and interesting experience. Safe travels
All the armed services want to give the Coast guard a hard time. " Coastie " Is just many of the derogatory terms I've heard. If you've ever seen them winch rescue a person at sea, you'll never speak ill of them again. Coast Guard personnel are the unsung heroes of everyday America. They patrol and protect all our waters from all sorts of evil. Respect from a Son, nephew, grandson, great grandson, cousin, half-brothers ( you get the picture )of Veterans past and present. Semper Fi
I disagree with you about derogatory terms Coastie is no different from calling Army personnel soldiers, Marine Corps personnel marines (they also use jar heads and leathernecks and devil dogs). Marines have a magazine that they chose to call Leatherneck Magazine. Marine personnel call their Gunnery Sergeants “gunny.” Naval enlisted personnel are sailors, swabbies, SeaBees. Apparently Air Force personnel use Fly boys. There are all terms within each military community and unless the person using the term has had one too many beers and is just looking for a fight I don’t think any of the branches take these terms to be derogatory. Besides, using the term Coast Guardsman or Coast Guardswoman is quite a bit. So if you find it offensive that’s on you. I’ve never heard of any military personnel getting upset over what they are. Soldiers, sailors , airmen, marines and coasties.
Oh I didn’t realize the term Coastie was derogatory. Pardon me, no offense from me. They’re angels from the sea or sky is all I know. Since I’ve retired from the hospital operating room I have missed the excitement of serving people in all kinds of situations, so I’ve definitely used You Tube to check out all the amazing rescues world wide. The Coast Guard tops the list, then the alpine search and rescue and mountaineering adventures have given me a broad range of seeing service among humanity around the world. Heros they are and they risk their lives for others. I can’t think of a more honorable activity for occupation or avocation. Just saying: no flies on them.
This is one of your best videos and you have a lot of good ones to choose from over the years. It was nice to see two of our veterans enjoying their 'retirement". Thank you for providing them with the opportunity to experience catamaran sailing.
so Wise , Thank You . I Bet those Coasties , have Been There and done so many things and have so many skills . We Must Also Remember the Serious Watch standing Skills.. Now the will know Sail too
Love these HQ videos! Always some fun stuff😂We have the worlds best Chocolate producents here in Denmark! Loads of Gold medals!!! Silver medals are hanging in the Company restroom 😂
FWIW, i read that when you set the fishing line, it shouldn't be too far from the boat. The fish are attracted to the bubbles from the wake, they think its a bait ball [not sure which fish was asked to confirm that] , so have the lure just a little bit past it. Some sport fishing boats now have hulls with built in air 'vents' in the hull - they pump air out of the holes to create a bubble bath, so to speak! and great vid as always
Hi there Jason and Nikki! I have been looking at the map on your site, and I am a bit confused. I understand there is a delay in the video, but the last entry on the map is dated July 16th, and it shows the last update with you all in Davao as of Sept 11th. Just out of "Curiosity" how far behind are the videos? Also, and more importantly, I want to say thank you for your wonderful videos, and sharing your life with us, the viewer! You all provide motivation and inspiration for this firefighter, USAF airman, and former Marine to move forward in my life for the things I want to achieve. Also, please tell Coop thank you for showing us the fire engines! As a firefighter who will be possibly retiring soon, I enjoyed that part :) ~Blake@Islandvibesforlife
Thank you for another terrific video. The Coops seem very nice and that is some amazing experience and history they have. Wow! I wish I would have gone into the Coast Guard or any part of the service after high school. I didn't know what I wanted then. Nothing stood out and nothing was offered or presented to me, so I just went to a party for the next 20 years. Over the years the education you have acquired identifying fish seems to be paying off as I enjoyed you identifying what I was looking at under the waves. Thank you for all your continuous work editing these weekly videos. Since I have been typing this your views have really jumped up 2 to 300 points. Congrats. 👍😎
Good-hearted people are the best. They know how to make the best out of a bad situation. You two are always in my prayers, follow your dreams, and stay strong. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I saved this to watch on my big screen - I just can’t comment that way. Lovely to see you both back on water again, and having interesting crew. We had some very knowledgeable Coast Guard visitors a few years ago to Dublin. And as I get closer to retirement, seeing people who have dedicated their work lives to public service is really interesting - as well as the reality of sailing with the boat more on track with design ideals. I’m looking forward to seeing your future adventures this season as the boat really becomes home and transport in one. (Still having my own, on land, adventure - but I need to challenge myself just a bit more!).

As a 30 year veteran of the US Coast Guard, I certainly appreciate your positive portrayal of my favorite Armed Service.
In my experience, only the most determined idiots among sailors would disrespect coastal policing forces and others involved with marine safety.

Rescuing a butterfly? That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about Jason and his compassion for all things.
I just want to know that the photographer in Jason could ID that butterfly in a line up? He’s got the eye that could do it.
I love that you've started putting names of the sea critters in your diving/snorkeling footage! 🙃

A lot of positive energy on this trip. I loved the underwater shots.
What a lovely and lighthearted couple and they are incredibly well qualified! You sure know how to pick them. Have a fantastic time together.
Great video! The Coopers are awesome. Thanks Nikki for sitting out the snorkel so that we can enjoy watching today 💖
Thank you coops and mini cooper for your service!
❤
Nikki and Jason are enjoying the boat life with guests on board. Nice sailing. Nikki, your hair is growing out nicely!
Semper Fi
Damn tootin!
"Coasty" is insulting?
This is one of your best videos and you have a lot of good ones to choose from over the years. It was nice to see two of our veterans enjoying their 'retirement". Thank you for providing them with the opportunity to experience catamaran sailing.
Sunday morning with the Wynns. It is a great life.
so Wise , Thank You .
Fun, gotta love those Coasties. lol, They have put together an amazing, life. The short one is scary 😱!
🤣
What great experiences for everyone!!! Thank you all for sharing in such a beautiful way!
Awesome crew and thank them for their service to our country. Good stuff.
Nikki, you are such a precious person and an Aquaian to top it off. I always enjoy your venture posts. Keep smiling.
Congrats. 👍😎
Ahoy Cost Guard, retired Navy!! Hope you guys are having a great time!! Thanks guys, great content as always!!
That USCG Hamilton class boat was snatched up by the Philippine Navy. They are not in Subic anymore.
Good-hearted people are the best. They know how to make the best out of a bad situation. You two are always in my prayers, follow your dreams, and stay strong.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My Tony did 20- BM. Nice vid 🫡
I feel like these guests are going to be fun! Looking forward to future vids and experiences.
