Except it would be doing 160mph while theoretically weighing almost nothing. If it generated twice it's downforce then it would be as if it where doing 160mph with all of it's aerodynamics disabled and having no downforce beyond it's own weight. So you really need somewhere in excess of 2x it's own weight in downforce for it to be viable, then all you need is the tunnel. We have the car, any modern f1 car will do, it's just the tunnel that's missing.

I never signed a non disclosure agreement, but I don't wanna push my luck. Apparently there is one Shelby Mustang GT500 Saleen. So the story goes there is one customer who had a new GT500 and he took it to Saleen and ask if he can modified it. The word spreads and apparently Caroll Shelby contact Saleen about it. Both man eventually agree that after this car, Saleen won't tuned another Shelby badged vehicle but both parties allowed the finished car to carry both legends name and remains the only official Shelby-Saleen.
Recently met Steve. He signed my car and talked with me about it for a few minutes. Really nice guy and its awesome that at 73 he still races. Also got to see the 3rd Saleen ever built
Back in the day when the S7 twin turbo first came out, it was said it created enough downforce & power to complete a real life hot wheels loop, this useless fact has stuck with me for the better part of 17 years, and now you know it too.

You can techincally still buy a brand new Saleen S7. Back in 2016, Saleen announced it will produce limited edition S7 LM for $1 million. For that you will get slightly updated S7 with 1300hp engine and centerlock wheels among others. At first the project was mocked especially by one of the US based car site. With evidence suggest that Saleen had badly photoshopped old S7 publicity photos and claimed it as new S7. But in 2017 they unveiled the first S7 LM and interestingly it didn't have S7 Comp pack wings and it did not have facelift of SS7 that I mentioned in other comments of this video. At the best of my knowledge I haven't seen another S7 LM being produced and sold.
Great guy. Met him in 1999 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway at the 35th Anniversary of the Mustang. Got a pic of him with my daughter in the infield. Thank you Mr Saleen.
The end of this video was heart warming ... its amazing for me as a car guy to see someone creating opportunities for future race car drivers who aren't rich... I remember a few Saleens in my community back in the early 90s and I always thought they were the coolest Mustangs ever. They had this beautiful "flip flop" (as we called it lol) paint job that changed color as Sun light hit the car from different angles. They were also the coolest sounding cars "period". The sound that came out of those Dynomax mufflers were eargasmic. It's interesting to note that my lightly modified 08 Mazdaspeed 3 now has as much power as those old Saleens!? lol
YOU FORGOT THE COOLEST DETAILS OF THE SALEEN S7! All the suspension underneath the car is tucked up and out of the way and replaced with a flat carbon fibre underbody which creates a low pressure zone under the car sucking it to the road and creating enough downforce that this car can literally drive upside down if it was going fast enough. HOW CAN YOU LEAVE THAT OUT?

Up to Speed Renault Sport? Including Alpine . The smaller Clio RS and bigger Megane RS depending on generation (Clio II and Megane III); known for being the best hot hatch's around in their time and class. Might be a bit hard to relate considering you never got them. Edit: Now that they have the fastest FWD car around the Nurburgring again. I feel like a video on Renault Sport at this time would be fitting.
The Saleen Manufacturing plant/dealership isn't too far from where I live, every so often I drive out when the have an open house or something similar to see them still making those legendary mustangs and sports trucks.
You guys forget to mention that Saleen also tuned electric cars in form of Tesla. At first it was called Foursixteen because that's the most powerful Tesla at that time but since there are new model such as P95 and P100. Now they were badged as GTX. You can choose which model of Tesla you want since Saleen doesn't actually add more power. What they do is add a new bodykits, they tweak the engine delivery and also makes the motors more noisy somehow. I'm not sure if they still offer it since that was like 4-5 years ago.

You guys forget to mention that Saleen also tuned electric cars in form of Tesla. At first it was called Foursixteen because that's the most powerful Tesla at that time but since there are new model such as P95 and P100. Now they were badged as GTX. You can choose which model of Tesla you want since Saleen doesn't actually add more power. What they do is add a new bodykits, they tweak the engine delivery and also makes the motors more noisy somehow. I'm not sure if they still offer it since that was like 4-5 years ago.
