thanks for sharing your skill/technique. this tutorial is way better than another i watched- polished and pleasant. i recently found a kit my friend was discarding and was super excited b/c i learned latch-hook in middle school home economics. it's a fairly EZ craft, esp since i failed miserably at attempts to learn knitting. LOL. crafts are therapeutic and relaxing for me.... looking forward to creating

These kits seem alot nicer. Maybe ne always came with bundles and patterns that had colors but hard to distinguish which color is which on pattern with similar shades.

I ahve the Fire Drake kit. I measured in 1 inch from the side to know where to start. I have now finished the first row--to within 1 inch on the other side. However, that row is now 31 and a half inches long. The rug is only supposed to be 30 inches. Do I remove some of the knots so the row is only 30 inches?
Well i'm sure it was slower than usual for INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES. Have a heart...this person was nice enough to do this and show it for people who aren't as much of an expert as you may be. Why don't you go do a video for the intermediate people...and stop complaining.

Great video. I got a kit from M.C.G. Textiles. All the colors are mixed and cut, but I have to figure out the names of each color of yarn. I got 5 bowls and separated the colors 2 to a bowl and looked the colors up on google. Can you give me advise about the better kind of kit to order. Because this one doesn't separate the colors and doesn't show where to start.

why don"t all the kits come with the yarn already separated by color? having to sepa.rate the yarns is extremely frustrating at times and takes up unnecessary time. i enjoy latching the rug but the having to do this with the yarn would possibly keep me from making another one

A good rule of tumb is that the instructions for a "kids" version are always next to impossible to understand

There's another method of doing the hooking. I prefer the other method for the size of my hands.

Latch hooking is really easy but it takes forver to finish because you need to do the knots so many times.
